A great place! Worth the Stars. I have at 84 been here 6+ months. Very good food and social life. During the recent storm ( 2024 ) we did very well. Having staff stay overnight. Breakfast and lights on as we awoke. Felt safe thanks to a smart hard working Management team. Pets allowed, a family style always present.

My Dad has been at Heron House for 2 months and he has had a smooth adjustment thanks to the staff!!!! Everyone has been attentive helpful and patient! Well it has now been over 16 months and Dad is happy living at Heron House. The staff is still very attentive, personable and patient with him. When he lost his glasses some of them noticed right away and helped look for them. These are the little things that matter. He also loves the food!

Heron House is a great community that truly cares. Their Activity Director is always engaging the residents even bringing them to sister communities to make new friends, their ED is transparent and compassionate with excellent communication and a team that shows their passion in the care that they give to their residents.

Our mother Anna, has been a resident of Heron House for a couple of years. She went in as an independent resident with the knowledge of available in house assistance, dependent on her arising needs as she ages. Anna is very happy with the surroundings and her interaction with the residents and the team at Heron House. As a resident, she is greeted and checked on regularly and especially if she doesn't show up for an activity she normally loves. Emma and the housekeeping team also check in on our mother and the team really cares! Anna has recently has had some aging obstacles since her independent stage moved in. As a family this has been challenging as we didn't know anything but a strong independent mother. Marni, the Occupational Therapist at Heron House has been invaluable to our mother's safety and our peace of mind as a family. Marni comes to Anna and works with her one on one in Anna's apartment to determine not only her cognitive health, (so beneficial to our family's understanding of how best to interact with our changing mother), but to help her function independently and safely in her apartment. Anna feels so empowered when she can be independent. There are external professionals (physician, podiatrist, etc.) who come in to provide direct care to Anna and we are grateful for this convenience and the great care received. Our interaction as family members at Heron House has been very positive! We appreciate the team's patience and caring in such an important position to care for our loved one!

For a large Assisted Living home, heron house is the best run in the area. It is organized and well run, the nursing staff goes the extra mile and converses with the physicians and ancillary staff as a team. Little is left to chance or forgotten. Nothing shady goes on behind the scenes. Caregivers and outside help r chosen because they r the best fit for the patient, not somebodies friend or kickback buddy. The patients are given the best practitioners, even a top , very experienced geriatric physician who cares for the patients like family and treats the staff like colleagues. By far, the Heron House on Fruitville in Sarasota is top in ALF care in the area

My Parents love The Heron House. They love All the Staff. They say the food is good also. It's clean , neat & lots to do. My father said if there had to be a person of the month for the Heron House and he had to choose he could not choose anyone because they're all excellent ..

Heron House has been wonderful to my mother. She was on the ALF side initially and recently moved into memory care. Tara and the staff made the transition seamless. I highly recommend Heron House.

The Staff are wonderful, caring people. Betty, Earla, Ashleigh and Dan are outstanding, very friendly and very responsive. I can't say enough about them. Our housekeeping person, Juria is very pleasant and thorough. Crystal and Beverly at the front desk, are genuinely nice people, are knowledgeable and very helpful . Moms transition went well with the cooperation of all parties and with the oversight of Rosie and Tara.

We had to move my father out of both another Assisted Living place that couldn't help him anymore, and also out of a rehab that he was at after hospital. I had to do this remotely with the help of a relative in Florida. The staff we dealt with at Heron House, Alexis and Lee in particular, went above and beyond the call of duty in helping us out. After working with them my family was assured that he would get the care and live a good life at the Heron House. He is thrilled to be there.

My mom moved into the Heron House about ten days ago and so far my impression is very favorable. The staff are wonderful ... very friendly and professional. The facility is very well maintained and my moms room is spacious and comfortable. They have been taking Covid seriously and are very strict on the protocol to protect the residents. So...if its good enough for my mom its good enough for anyones mother 🙂

Heron House has been a staple in our senior living community and upheld a high, respectful reputation for great care and friendliness. When you walk through the doors you are greeted by the amazing Betty at the front and the smiling residents - some with adorable and well behaved dogs. I have worked with this community and recommended this charming community for years. Thank you for serving our local seniors by providing an upbeat and cheerful atmosphere!!

I would like to rebuttal the previous review from "anonymous ". My mother and dad both moved into Heron house in 2013. My dad passed away seven months ago and my mother remains living at Heron House til this day. First the staff are the hardest working individuals I have ever known. Being a caretaker is not easy. Its physical as well emotional. These folks do not get the credit or thanks they deserve. Second to put out there that meds are given incorrectly and housekeeping is not up to snuff sound like a disgruntled individual that does not have the spine or guts to disclose who is making such unfounded allegations. Since you do not have a family member here you do not have the right to put out such statements of defamation to a facility that I call my mothers home filled with staff I consider family. Lastly, this industry has turnover more so because of competition. Its not uncommon to see turnover is staff as well as management. My personal experiences with Barry have always been an open door policy with an absolute willingness to to listen and do the right thing for all residents. Family members must be hands on. You must be present in your loved ones life. This helps for a successful and happy life in their home. I would not have my mother living at Heron House for 4 years if any part pf that review were true. Grow a spine and move on. Diane G Adams

This is a very nice assisted living home in Sarasota. There are a ton of activities for residents such as Trivial Pursuit, pool, bridge, poker, happy hour, puzzles, ice cream socials etc. Jude gave us a great tour. We are looking at places for my father in law. The offerings in the dining room are appealing. We were very impressed with the entire place!

My mother has now lived at the Heron House for 2 months. So far I'm happy and grateful for the care she has been given. We moved her here from another facility that neglected her and treated family members awlful. Here at The Heron House I love the open door policy, I love that the staff can and will communicate with family members, I love no matter what my requests are the staff here strives to provide in a very timely fashion. So far I give this place an A+

Let me say during HURRICANE IRMA I stayed with my mom Anita and the staff and team of the HERON HOUSE was amazing and caring and very hospitable!! So good to see such caring and understanding people in our world and in Sarasota where we have called home since 1998! LOVE YOU HERON HOUSE AND SARASOTA

The people are friendly. Facilities are nice. Could use some more outdoor activities and perhaps a small pool. Nurses are good. There are some real issues with billing. They will try to squeeze every penny out that they can. Also their hygiene aid (help with bathing, etc.) is rarely on time and offers very little assistance, especially for an extra $600 per month.
