Started out ok last year, but went quickly downhill the last 6 months or so. Just moved Mom out to a nicer place where the ameneties are nicer. This place got rid of the wonderful massage therapist and also the professional hairdressers, and replaced them with Bag Lady Lookalikes. My mother refused use them anymore, so we then had to go to outside services. She also felt the food has gone downhill quite a bit. There were plenty of other options, so we've moved on. They are LUCKY to get two stars.

Serenity and Beauty. The water is calm and mesmerising with beautiful vistas wherever you look. Gorgeous sky meeting water and huge birds swooping and diving into the water. The water looks magical and it is so peaceful and inviting. Beauty and peace.

Bay Village staff highly impressed my siblings and me. We moved our folks from New England to BV 6 months ago, mother with a disease that progressively rendered her unable to move or swallow, father with dementia. It took years of research and visits to find a place that met all my requirements for each of their needs and Bay Village lived up to everything we had hoped for. Exceedingly kind and professional staff. Friendly smiles from every employee. Cheery and Clean!! Clean smelling! Personalized awareness and attention to individual needs. Frequent communication. Accommodating with my requests. Left hand talked with right hand -meaning, I didn't need to repeat myself. Billing, social work, companion care, all were easy to communicate with. We knew many of the staff by name because we saw the same faces there repeatedly these past months which gave us a sense of stability. My parents and brother, sister and I strolled around the turtle pond, admired the orchids, played shuffleboard, and my mom watched her grandchildren play in the lovely pool. My folks listened to music, played Bingo and made pumpkin pie concoctions. I frequently stayed in the immaculate and hotel-spacious guest rooms with kitchens upstairs and dined in the onsite cafe next to the pool. Also easy to walk nearby for food and other things if I stayed without a car. My sister and I loved the gift shop for its inexpensive fun items. Knowing my parents loved to sit and hold hands and be a part of everything despite my mother's inability to talk, the nursing staff on Hibiscus wing placed my parents right in the center of activity at the nurses' station. Oh our parents loved it, seeing the friendly faces and hearing the banter, and staff made sure to talk with them. Our parents were at the end of their lives. And they had a wonderful send off at lovely Bay Village, for which we are grateful. Pastor Chuck was incredibly flexible with his time and meaningful support. Staff and aides made time to say personal goodbyes and hug my father and mother as they each were dying, without knowing that my siblings and I were there, we just came upon them or happened to be in the room when staff came in. We highly recommend Bay Village. The aides and nurses are hardworking, warm and kind. My brother, sister and I think of them all fondly and know that B & B send their love as well.

I would give Bay Village a 6 Star rating if I could. My dad spent the best years of his life their. The welcoming friendships,music ,activities,staff and accommodations meet his needs perfectly! 🙂

I am two weeks post op of total knee replacement and have since recommended my excellent Bay VIllage of Sarasota rehab success and experience to numerous others. If one has a CHOICE where they can go for caring and motivating rehab CHOOSE Bay Village of Sarasota. Of course the accommodations are ABOVE average in comfort and cleanliness: the food--more like a tasty cuisine and the nursing and rehab staff some of the most caring I have ever encountered. (No, this was not my first surgery but this facility would definitely be my FIRST choice should I ever need a rehab facility again.) Kudos to a wonderful staff all round! Thank you .... Those negative reviews are B--S. My wife and I have been living at Bay Village about 4 years. It is one of the best decisions we've made. Living here is wonderful... not perfect.. but wonderful. We live in the Independent living area. (They also have assisted living and a nursing home... all in the same building) We've found the other residents AND employees like family. There's a reason that there is usually a occupancy of 90 to 95 percent. I don't think there are many, if any other retirement communities that can boast that. AND we are one of the only, if not the only, retirement community that is DEPT FREE. We looked at 7 other retirement communities before chosing Bay Village. We liked, and liked that everything is in one building served by 4 elevators and had all the facilities we wanted. If you were to see the building you'd think it was newly built... as a Non-Profit community, all the profits that would have gone out have been reinvested in the facility.. I understand it has been somewhere around $50,000,000 in the last 18 years. (and we're still dept free). The building is beautiful. When you come here, you have a LIFE CONTRACT.. that if you LEGITIMATELY run out of money, there is a large fund to take care of you. We've residents who pretty much live on social security to some who are VERY, VERY wealthy. THIS IS A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE!

My mother has been there since having a stroke two years ago. Bay Village has been a blessing for me and my family, and I appreciate everything they do. No nursing home is perfect, but they do a great job.

My Dad spent nearly a year in the nursing home on the second floor as his advanced Alzheimer's progressed to conclusion. I can only speak in depth to this aspect of the care at Bay Village. We found the staff to be dedicated, professional, caring and patient. I cannot imagine a tougher job than CNA at such a facility but the care we received was consistently first rate. The head of nursing at the time (2011, maybe still) was also excellent. The occasional contact we had with residents and staff from the independent living sections was always pleasant. The whole place was clean, bright, well-designed and well maintained. Our overall impression was very favorable.

The executive director was caught and outed in a major news publication for making his employees (and residents) write favorable reviews about Bay Village. Residents are even intimidated to sign Affidavits (which are not admissible). It is still unknown why this CEO has not been arrested, prosecuted, and incarcerated for his actions. In an ongoing lawsuit he was recently guilty of "Spoliation of Evidence" where he is being sued for reneging on communications contracts. Did illegal renovations compromise the communications systems so contracts were reneged upon and new providers were called to install new systems? Would the illegal renovations being done be discovered when the original provider would most likely discover them when repairing the compromised original systems?
