We have been glad to find Ashton Place for my mother. Her physical needs are more extensive than a larger corporate assisted living facility would be able to provide for and Ashton Place staff and administration have all been willing to give her that extra care she needs. Everyone has been kind to all of us and willing to answer our questions and meet all of our requests and her needs. The facility is very home like and the food has been what she is accustomed to and she seems to enjoy it.

We are so pleased with the care that my parents receive at Ashton Place Assisted Living. The owner, Paul, is very attentive and responsive to our questions and requests. Karen and the rest of the staff are so caring and supportive. My parents are treated with kindness and respect. We have been so thankful to find such a comfortable and safe place for them when we could no longer care for them at home.

I have been a caregiver to Kenny Morton for thirteen years . Seven at his private home and six at Ashton Place . The transition was very smooth due to the attentive and caring staff . Kenny continues to thrive in part because there is an extreme effort by owners and staff to provide stimulating activity's and a sense of community and health care that I truly belief has contributed to the extension of his well being and quality of life .

I can't describe how happy my family is since moving our parents to Ashton Place assisted living. The attention given to the residents is everything we hoped for. The owner and staff are so friendly and professional and the residents and rooms are kept clean. Special attention is given to those who need it. Personally my stress level has gone way down knowing that they are well cared for.

I am so thankful we found Ashton Place for my mother. We have been in a few other facilities as my parents have progressed and I can honestly say Ashton Place has been the best ! The people, all the people, care about their residents . They take their time to get to know them . The way they work with them in every way is like they are family. Thank you Ashton Place for all you do

Ashton Place is a unique and special place, because the people who work there are both unique and special. Paul, the owner, is an amazingly compassionate individual who is almost always at the facility and can often be found in the midst of the busiest area. Also, he is a nurse and can, therefore, relate to physical limitations and special needs. The staff at Ashton Place is made up of some of the most dedicated individuals I have ever met. They are never too busy to stop and answer a question or address a need, and they always step up to help even when an issue is outside their particular area. A front office administrator often can be seen putting down paperwork and running to assist a resident trying to walk to the front patio. A nurse can be seen having a warm chat with a patient. Housekeeping is outstanding and makes the effort to be nurturing and sweet. Everyone cares! When I asked our family member to name something he liked besides all the special people, he said, " The food is really, really good!" Another thing that meant a lot in our situation is knowing that our family member will be able to remain in the same room in the same facility even as his health declines and his needs increase. He will not have to go to a different "unit" or have different caretakers but can remain where he is comfortable with all things familiar. I could not be more grateful for Ashton Place.

I would HIGHLY recommend Ashton Place to anyone seeking a facility that truly goes above and beyond for their residents. After several stays at other rehabs and assisted living facilities, we needed to find a facility which could provide a higher level of care for my dad as his health continues to decline. After several recommendations, we were so unbelievably delighted and happy to find Ashton Place. The level of care and compassion my dad receives from the owner, Paul, and his entire staff is truly unmatched. They are so kind and patient with him and we could not have dreamt of a better match. The facility is bright, cheery and clean and simply a wonderful place for my Dad. We are so thankful and grateful to know he's receiving such excellent care.

I just cannot say enough in praise of Ashton Place. The quality of care that my mother received, the attentive and friendly manner of the staff, and the personal involvement of the owner-manager, Paul Finerty, all exceeded expectations. Over the past 15 years my mother had been in two assisted living residences and three other assisted living/long term care facilities for rehabilitation stays after falls or surgery. All of those were fine facilities that provided good care for my mother, but Ashton Place was a level above all of them in the quality of care, the personal attentiveness, and the overall compassion that my mother received. When my wife and I were considering moving from Atlanta to Sarasota, a major consideration was finding a residence for my mother, who was elderly and had been confined to a wheelchair for several years. She did not need a full skilled nursing facility, but by being confined to a wheelchair she required an extra level of care that most assisted living facilities don't provide. For her Ashton Place was the perfect place; she received the care that she needed in a friendly, homey environment. I should note that Ashton Place is not large, nor is it new or fancy. There are about 44 residents, so it is relatively small by today's standards, and correspondingly it does not have elaborate common areas and upscale entertainment and exercise facilities (none of which would have really mattered to my mother had they been there). The common areas, dining rooms, entertainment spaces and porches are appropriately spacious and comfortable. Perhaps because of its moderate size, the staff members were both professional and friendly; it seemed that most knew my mother by name and always seemed to be concerned about her welfare and comfort. Ashton Place was a wonderful home for my mother, and I would recommend it highly to anyone wishing for similar care for their loved one.

Grandma was well taken care of at Ashton Place. Ashton Place has a (well-deserved) reputation throughout the local assisted living community - hospice nurses, private caregivers, pharmacists, visiting clergy - for being a uniquely exceptional place of care for those who require assisted living. Most attribute this to its family ownership/presence and the conscientiousness of all of its staff, who perform their work in a manner suggestive of it being as much of a calling as it is a job. In short, the culture is one in which all personally care for the residents, which is very obviously reflected in the care that each receives.

I've worked at this place a few times as I'm a technician in the service industry. I've always been impressed with how cleanly organized this facility is and all the staff is always very helpful and friendly. Also the owner Paul is always on site which is a huge Plus. I'd have no problem referring people to this facility if they're looking for a quality Assisted Living place.

My father-in -law has gotten extremely good care here. The staff show so much compassion to him. They help in so many ways. I highly recommend this this place!
April 2020
My mother was a resident of Ashton Place from April 2018 until her passing in November 2019. When it became obvious that mom needed more care than we could give her we checked into Ashton Place after hearing several recommendations. It was bright, cheery and a very pleasant atmosphere. Mom quickly adjusted as she was treated like family and enjoyed the meals and deserts. The owners and staff always demonstrated great care and concern toward all the residents. Mom stayed active and enjoyed the many activities, outings, and celebrations of Holidays and birthdays. We would like to thank Paul, Ewa, Nurses, Aides and all the staff for the care and love they showed my mother. Don and Nina Larg

Ashton Place Submitted by: Sally Morgan, Resident As my daughter and I drove down this quiet country road we saw a sign saying "Family Owned, Assisted Living, since 1996." I was previously living in an ALF in Downtown Sarasota. I lived at this ALF for two years and ownership changed three times compared to here where the owner has been here for 23 years. When I arrived here at Ashton's Place you first notice the serenity of the surroundings. Cows next door grazing, trees blowing in the wind, birds chirping, and just the overall beauty of living here. We went over to the fence where the cows were, and I called out, "MOOOO!" and sure enough they came right over. We weren't sure if they were the "Welcoming Committee" or if they were just hungry. When we entered the building we couldn't help but notice the cleanliness and that it was all on one floor. Living somewhere with one floor is a huge safety factor since where I used to live always had an 'Elevator out of order'. "Use Stairs." (Easy for you to say) The thing I miss most at my age is my family, and I always ask myself, "Where do I belong?". When I met Paul I soon realized that Paul, the caregivers, and his faculty are caring and compassionate people, and the caregivers are not just out for a quick buck. I've been here for about 5 months and I finally have a place to call home, somewhere I fit in, and the feeling of belonging. Living with a severe disability is like playing cards, you play with the hand that you're dealt or you fold. Unlike cards, you cannot be dealt another hand. I'm at ease knowing that my future lies here and I'll be able to continue with the hand I was dealt until my last card is played. Amen.

I want to personally thank Ashton Place and its staff. They took excellent care of my mom. Since I am not local I needed to feel that she was safe and in good hands. Ashton Place is family owned. They limit the amount of residents so that everyone can have the best care. I like that. Staff Leader Harry, Nurse Rena and owner Paul are very accessible. I can always reach someone if need be and they can always reach me. If you are looking for a solid facility I recommend Ashton Place in Sarasota. This photo was taken by Rena at Ashton and texted to me. Great place!

I am so happy that I found Ashton Place for my mother's last years. The capable, friendly, caring, helpful and welcoming staff were fantastic and this was always much appreciated. The level of care they provide is tops in all respects and I would recommend it to everyone without hesitation. Thank you Paul, Ewa and staff. You made my mother's last 4 years comfortable and peaceful.

My father has been at Ashton Place for 6 months. He loves the friendly staff , enjoys his spacious single room, and likes the healthy meals. Ashton is family owned and operated and feels like "home" . The owner and staff are responsive to our requests and always willing to help our Dad. Thank you ashton staff for being so kind and considerate to our loved ones. Tim

This place is truly exceptional!!! After a bad experience at another facility my mother placed my daddy here... what a refreshing change! From the owner on down they work as a team!! The employees are WONDERFUL!! What a blessing to know that my daddy is being taken care of and that they do so with such a great attitude! No more hunting down an aide or wondering when someone will be in to take care of his basic needs... even the owner, Paul, is hands on with the residents instead of cooped up in some stuffy corporate office! He makes himself available to anyone who needs him and the rest of the staff is just as amazing! The peace and comfort this provides for the family is priceless! Thank you Paul and your staff!! You've given our family a peace of mind that we haven't had before!! The facility feels like a great big home... not an institution!! So very very grateful for this place and the staff that keeps it going!

Great staff and privately owned which means you can save quite a bit as compared to other facilities. My father has been here over a year after being asked to leave another facility as he's half paralyzed and was too much for them to handle. Immediately I noticed better care for him. For example, he now gets a shower twice a week where as his previous place they would just wipe him down. The owner is very nice as is the rest of the staff.

Ashton Place is the story of a different assisted living facility. The first word that comes to mind is family. Paul started out with family and Ashton Place is based on the most important word- family. Every resident is taken care of like family. I have had my wife at two rehab facilities and two other assisted living facilities. The difference is like day and night. They are the most caring and compassionate people I've met. The only thing I can say is the I will be forever grateful, thank you Paul Jeno Sumegi

Three years ago today I placed my mother into this beautiful family-owned home, which I always find friendly, clean and well maintained. Owners Paul and Ewa Finerty interact personally with the residents, treating each with dignity and respect, providing a very home-like environment. They welcomed me also as part of the 'family' and are always, along with their staff, available for questions or 'tweaks' regarding her care, and handle her 'senior moments' (there are many!) with patience and humor. Daily schedules are orderly and maintained, and the many (family included!) holiday and other special events are delightful. Many thanks to Harry and Barbara for being so patient with my many visits and questions in that first year, to Vickie for the 'updates', and the rest of the staff for providing the level of care that you do...Mom is always clean and neat when I 'pop in' for a visit! Ashton Place is truly a 'gem' ..!!

What a wonderful facility. Kind, compassionate, caring owner (Paul Finerty) and staff! Clean, lovely dining rooms and good food. Many parties for family and residents if you want to participate.
