We moved my mother from OH in December 2024. I was concerned that she would not be happy and I was pleasantly surprised. She’s made friends, participates in the activities and is treated like a queen by the staff. It’s a smaller community so the caregivers quickly learn the residents routines. The nursing staff is wonderful. I would love to name everyone but afraid I would inadvertently forget someone. If you are looking for an assisted living facility you need to look no further. I wanted to share my experience with Brookdale at Punta Gorda Isles. As a local senior care advisor, I am in and out of communities every week and I must say that I was so impressed with this community. I had a client who was looking for a community for this wife. We met with Wendy and what a caring and compassionate woman she is. She was not sitting with us to "sell" an apartment but had genuine concern, compassion, and sympathy for his situation and his struggles he is experiencing with his loved one's Alzheimer's diagnosis. As we left her office and went on our tour of the community, EVERY single staff member smiled, said hello, and you could feel their happiness they have in their job and workplace. It is small and quaint and gives you a feeling of true home from the staff to the residents.

When I think of Brookdale Punta Gorda Isles, I can't help but hear the theme song from CHEERS: "You wanna go where everybody knows your name...and they're always glad you came." I live out of state, and while visiting last week, Mom and I spent a wonderful day shopping and noshing around town. That evening, we returned to her home at Brookdale and rang the bell to be let in. A staff member greeted her with, "Where have you been? We missed you! Tell me all about it!" I absolutely melted---and Mom lit up. That's the kind of thing that happens every day. Entrusting Mom's care to someone else isn't something I took lightly. But for the past two years, the entire staff has been nothing short of exemplary---qualified, competent, and most importantly, incredibly compassionate and loving. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for keeping Mom safe, healthy, and happy.

Highly recommend Brookdale of PGI! We are so thankful we found Brookdale of PGI for our mom! After trying a few other places, we wish we had found it sooner. From the minute you walk in, it feels like home, bright, welcoming, and comfortable. There’s even a cozy family room with a fireplace where the residents can hang out for movies, music, or visit with friends. One of the things we love most is that it’s a small community, not one of those big facilities where you feel lost in the shuffle. It feels personal, like everyone truly knows and cares about each other, and they do! Mom’s one-bedroom apartment is perfect for her. She’s got a big bathroom, a nice walk-in closet, and even a little kitchen with a sink, fridge/freezer, microwave, and cupboards, just enough to feel like her own space while still having help nearby when she needs it. But what really makes this place special is the people. From day one, Wendy made us feel right at home. Jessica and the nursing staff are excellent and stay on top of Mom’s health. The caregivers, especially Mikey, are so kind and patient”you can tell they really care about the residents. Kandie keeps the activities fun and meaningful, and Donna is always ready with a smile. Scott, the director, knows every resident and family by name and always takes time to check in with everyone. There might be bigger or fancier places out there, but none of them compare to Brookdale of PGI. We have total peace of mind knowing Mom is safe, happy, and surrounded by people who treat her like family. We highly recommend Brookdale of PGI!

I am a professional companion and do my best to keep my clients safe and happy in their own homes for as long as possible. I haven't been a big proponent of assisted living facilities. When my client's family told me that they were starting to look for assisted living communities, I was not sure that this was a good idea. When they asked me to tour Brookdale Punta Gorda Isles, I went reluctantly but with an open mind. I was pleasantly surprised. The facility was such a happy, warm, and loving place! I got to meet several of the staff and residents. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I saw that there were many activities daily to keep the residents occupied and happy. Needless to say , I was very happy to endorse the move. My client has been at Brookdale PGI for six months now and he LOVES it!! The care my client receives is top notch. His favorite activity is Monday Matinee. He loves learning about the history of each movie shown along with facts about the making of the movie and bios of the stars. Brookdale also has lots of live entertainment weekly. The family and I were especially impressed how Brookdale PGI handled both Helene and Milton hurricanes. The evacuation was seamless and my client thought it was a wonderful vacation/adventure. I would highly recommend Brookdale PGI to anyone looking for an assisted community. It feels more like home than any assisted living I have been visited.

The caregivers, nurses, maintenance, marketing folks, and administration are like family. Their turnover is slight as they all consider this Brookdale facility to be a great place to work. They treat all of the senior residents like family, offering cheerful assistance at every opportunity. They genuinely care and take pride in their reputation. My wife's mother is 95 years young and though it was a struggle getting her to give up her condo and move close to us a year ago, she now considers it to be a great move. She enjoys the staff and the other residents, and she is busy as ever with activities.

Brookdale Assisted Living, Punta Gorda Isles Review August 22, 2024 After being a widow for eight years, in October 2021 at the age of eighty-eight, my mother-in-law Emma Volk, moved into her newly redecorated home at Brookdale Assisted Living in Punta Gorda Isles, Florida. Once there, she soon became involved with daily activities such as morning exercise, crafts, themed monthly gatherings, and church service on Sunday. She was able to bring into the facility her two-tiered electric organ and enjoys playing for the residents. She was paired in the dining room with two ladies that were hard of hearing. My mother-in-law felt she was placed with these ladies to help them. Living at Brookdale has brought new life into her because now she has a purpose for living! Currently she is “91 years-young” and is helpful to the staff as she assists in giving visitors tours of the facility! As her family, we have peace of mind and feel extremely fortunate that she can live in such a wonderful facility that cares for her! We all know that she is being fed three healthy meals per day, her housekeeping needs are met, attends weekly hairdresser appointments, and that she can enjoy the company of all her new friends. The dedicated and professional staff are very kind and caring to my mother-in-law and she loves them all, too! Our family gives Brookdale Assisted Living of Punta Gorda Isles a high rating and greatly recommends it for your loved ones! Another reason my mother-in-law loves Brookdale is the size of the facility. After stays at 3 other facilities, my 94-year-old Mom is at the home she loves the best! This is a small community where everyone knows everyone and the staff is so compassionate and caring. Management is very friendly, professional and responsive. The nursing staff is amazing. They monitor the health of the residents ongoing and partner with my Mom's medical professionals to address any concerns. They keep me apprised of any issues (no matter how small) and we work together to ensure my Mom's wellbeing. At other facilities, I felt they resented my close oversight of my Mom's care and daily visits when I am in town. But I feel like everyone at Brookdale welcomes my involvement and keeping her happy and healthy is their Number 1 goal too. There are plenty of activities to keep my Mom busy and feel she has really flourished in this environment. It provides such peace of mind for me to know she is part of the Brookdale family.

My sister lived alone in Punta Gorda, FL and her family all live in Maine so when she became unable to care for herself she was put into a nursing/ assisted living place close to her home. I flew down to check it out and was not comfortable with the living situation so I went in search for another place for her. The real estate person who I found to sell her condo highly recommended Brookdale. I went to check it out and I was immediately blown away by how beautiful the place was and and how the entire staff was so welcoming and informative about Brookdale, they even fed me a couple of times when I was going through the process of getting my sister admitted and the food, in my opinion, was as good as it gets. I feel there is no way there could be a better place for my sister to be living and I feel that I have nothing to worry about with the family being able to visit with her I know all of and her care and needs are being taken care of than we could than we could do ourselves.

I stopped by Brookdale PGI last November to donate some jigsaw puzzles; while handing over the donation, I asked if they needed volunteers. The team was extremely friendly and made me feel so welcome that I became a volunteer a week later. It is now the next summer and the residents have become so dear to me that I consider them my friends! If I do not get to visit them for a week or two, I truly miss them. They have so many diverse backgrounds and interests - we keep each other entertained by simply enjoying conversations or joining in on planned activities. I treasure my time at Brookdale and can honestly say the folks that work there truly care about these residents. It is a beautiful thing! If and when my mom needs to move to an assisted living facility, I can only hope we find her a place like Brookdale PGI!

I am a snowbird from Rochester, New York. I came to Brookdale PGI five months ago. My stay has been so exciting! The activities have been fun and interesting. You can choose to participate in any or none of the activities. I usually go to one or two of the six choices a day. The staff are welcoming, friendly, caring and helpful. They are lots of fun to be with! I have also been impressed with the quality of the food. I am a vegetarian and have been happy with the variety I have been served. I love the warm and loving atmosphere at my new home. It's like a big happy family. I am sad to be leaving, but am happy for all the new friends- both staff and residents, I have made. I am so impressed by the staff’s attitude of kindness and compassion, it is remarkable! The environment is lovely and the activity director is great. It is now the next summer and the residents have become so dear to me that I consider them my friends! If I do not get to visit them for a week or two, I truly miss them. They have so many diverse backgrounds and interests - we keep each other entertained by simply enjoying conversations or joining in on planned activities. I treasure my time at Brookdale and can honestly say the folks that work there truly care about these residents. It is a beautiful thing! If and when my mom needs to move to an assisted living facility, I can only hope we find her a place like Brookdale PGI!

My mother has been at Brookdale PGI for 3 months and loves it. She has always been very independent and was very reluctant to go into any type of facility, but after a serious fall it was obvious she could not live by herself any longer. She quickly made friends with several residents and was thrilled by the attention she receives from all of the staff. We attended an event there yesterday where they invite the families to come in and meet with the staff and residents. It was wonderful to see 40+ residents sitting around eating (the food was delicious), laughing, and genuinely having a great time. Their chef Al came over to talk with my mom and her face lit up. I was afraid she would "give up" when she got to Brookdale, but she is in better spirits now than she has been for quite awhile.

When looking for a home for your loved ones the best advise I can give is GO SMALL! Don't get pulled in by the fancy furniture, linen tablecloths etc...that many of the large facilities offer. I did that and my mom was just another number. There was no continuity of care and the staff changed so much that they didn't know who she was. Then I found Brookdale Punta Gorda and my mother has been there for almost 8 years. She is part of their family and they are part of ours. I can rest easy knowing that she is with friends who know her so well. Thanks to the current management and CNA's she is getting the best care and attention that I have seen in a long time. Thanks Brookdale for all you do to insure that my mother is well cared for!! Also, when researching facilities, look at the tenure of the staff - especially the Health & Wellness Director, nursing and key CNA's (certified nursing assistants). It's tough to keep staff for long in this industry but Brookdale Punta Gorda has done a great job and created an environment that makes staff enjoy where they work.

My 86 year mother has been at Brookdale Punta Gorda for several months. I visit her every day so I have a very good idea of how the place is managed and the type of care that she receives. All I can say is that the gals that take care of her are exceptional. They are very sweet and professional. The way they interact with her demonstrates that they really care about her well being. The nurses are fantastic as well. I have to give a shout out to the staff, Cristina, Faith, Sarah, Wee, Brittany, Jessica and all the other folks that take great care of her. The director, Scott, is very personable and accommodating. Any maintenance request is quickly handled, thanks Virgil!! Last but certainly not least, Wendy their sales rep. always inquires about mom and has been very helpful if I have any questions. I'm very grateful for the care that the Brookdale Punta Gorda team provides my mom. Thank you!!

I was desperately looking for a respite for my 95 year old Mom who is in pretty good shape for her age. She lived with me and I was having surgery and unable to be with her for a few weeks. I contacted A Place for Mom who found Brookdale at Punta Gorda Isles. I looked at their respite with Mom, and it was perfect. It was furnished nicely, but to my surprise when she moved in the respite, the Marketing Director had refurnished it with brand new furniture, and even found a great TV as well. I was very nervous about her transition to a respite. But, a very strange thing happened. After about 3 days my Mom began telling staff she loved it, and wondered if her daughter would let her live there permanently. She told me on the phone that everyone knew her name and they were so kind. She loved the food. She stood up in the dining room and sang. She had people her own age to socialize with. For 10 years during my career I held positions at several assisted living, memory care and independent living facilities in Sarasota. Never did I see what I saw at Brookdale. The Nurses are above excellent, the Activity Director helps everyone tirelessly, the Executive Director is very hands on and caring, the Marketing Director goes above and beyond. All staff are a team who love their job. The safety of the residents is incredible during these difficult times. I never thought I'd be so fortunate to find this place. Five Stars!!

I was initially hesitant about having my 91 year old father reside in any senior living facility. Especially when I’m a snow bird and Dad didn’t want to go back to snow. Luckily we visited Brookdale Assisted Living in Punta Gorda, Florida. After meeting with the staff and taking a tour, Dad and I felt we’d found the perfect place to meet our needs. I’m so glad we did. Brookdale is a small community with a family atmosphere. All of the staff go above and beyond. They even assist Dad making FaceTime calls to me. Jessica, who is the Health and Wellness director, calls me regularly with updates on Dad. I can’t offer enough praises of Brookdale Assisted living in Punta Gorda, Florida.

My mom has been living at this facility since August 2017 and my family and I can't be more pleased. The entire staff (from management to maintenance) is great. Everyone chips in to make sure the residents are happy and well cared for. The size of this community is ideal and my mom feels both safe and well cared for. The residents are very friendly and welcoming to new residents and Pam the Activities Manager does a super job incorporating everyone into the various activities. The food is really good and there are several choices available at both lunch and dinner. The nurses and caregivers are both kind and very understanding of my moms needs and desires. They treat her like the individual she is. I visit my mom everyday and see how much effort is put in to making this a safe environment during this COVID crisis. They have done a ridiculously good job during an extremely difficult year and a half. I sleep better every night because I know my mom is living safely at Brookdale PGI.

It should be noted that the lighting at night was a problem after daylight savings began in the fall of 2018. My mother-in-law loves it there and the staff chips in everywhere to create a family atmosphere. They even brought out ice cream for my brother and I to share with my mother-in-law in the garden. The nursing staff is excellent and Jenny V. continues to go above and beyond.

However, after being there just six months they raised the rent $260. The roof is in disrepair and looks like its ready to cave in over the carport. At night you cant see in the front parking lot. There are low voltage lights but they dont work. New director was told about it and has done nothing. Its a huge liability especially with the elderly population as they are prone to falling. New director is slow to respond to complaints but good at putting you on hold. Other issues involve getting things done in a timely fashion such as repairs. Cleaning crew is short handed and needs to be reminded and retrained. The facility shows well and there are activities along with a van for transportation. Residents have to hook up their own cable with Comcast.
