My Mom has dementia, and Dad was able to take care of her at home for quite a while. When he got sick, we looked into options for Mom. After touring Canterfield with Jessica, I called my sister and said that this was the place for Mom, if we needed to make a change. Very quickly Dad's condition deteriorated and I called Jessica to see about respite care. It was the morning of Good Friday. She said Mom could stay that night if I could fill out paperwork. By mid-afternoon, paperwork was filled out, Joanna had evaluated Mom, and we were settling her in her new room. We were told to prepare for an adjustment period, and are happy to say that Mom acclimated very quickly, and her respite care stay has transitioned into permanent resident. We love that there is always something going on. All the staff genuinely care about their residents, and their families.

Jessica was an amazing support for me and for my mother during my dad's illness. Though we never made it into Canterbury as my dad passed as we were making arrangements to move him there, Jessica supported us by calling and checking in for many months leading up to my dad's passing. She is the best and we are so grateful for her!

Thank you to the Canterfield Team for a seamless transition for our mother from assisted living to memory care. It went smoother than we ever expected. Chuck and Bob were very helpful and I appreciated both of them asking how I was doing. Showed true empathy for our situation. We met Marie, the activities director and she too was amazing. Ana and Cirene at the front desk are always fabulous but also went the extra mile to ask if we needed anything, to let us in MC, and also to lend moral support. When mom walked into her new room she said she loved it and didn't want to leave. Jessica did a fabulous job speaking with mom too. Pamela, thank you for giving us the appropriate words and plan to make this work. A heartfelt thank you from the family and mom. We couldn't have done it without the Canterfield Team.

My father was a guest at Canterfield for a week of respite care. I was very impressed with the facility as well as the staff. They took very good care of dad and I will definitely have him stay with them again. Thank you for excellent care!!!

So far so good!! Mom and I looked at many different places for assisted living. We chose Canterfield mainly because the staff seemed to really care for their residents. We were greeted warmly when we entered, (they had a sign with our names on it as we came in!) They also had many activities for the residents. The facility itself was very clean, which was important to me. I'm encouraged that when mom moves in, the experience will be really good.

Absolutely the best facility. I have had many family members that have been in assisted living and memory care facilities. By far Canterfield is the best. The entire staff is amazing. They truly make the resident feel like family. The staff goes the extra mile to make sure the residents are properly cared for and have everything they need to be happy. They will drive the residences to their doctor visits and other health related visits. The administration does a fantastic job in keeping family involved with all the activities and events in the facility. They truly are the best facility in the area. The staff is amazing.

We use their respite apartments every few months and it has been a lifesaver for me. The people are caring, friendly and accommodating. I'm so grateful to have this wonderful place available to help me on this journey.

My mom has now been here at Canterfield for a little over 2 years and me and my family are very happy that we brought her here. It is a beautiful place the staff are wonderful. The care is wonderful. They really look out for your loved ones I would highly recommend this place.

Updated: I came to visit my mother unannounced. The memory care unit was clean and the staff were attentive. My mother was looking great and had her routine down. I've seen pictures of actives that she also has joined. We had extended family join us who also agreed the place was amazing. I honestly am so happy to have found this place. This is a 'just moved in and settled' review. I had to take over my mother's care due to her dementia. It has been nothing but emotional and stressful. Canterfield wasn't on my list as a placement (only because I didn't know of them) and found them last minute. They went out of their way to answer all my questions and explain their process. I never felt ignored or that any questions I had were ridiculous. My mother just moved in. The first day she was nervous so I asked staff if they could take her to be socialized with others while I unpacked her things. When I walked out she was watching TV with a group of people. She settled in quickly and seemed ok. Later that night I received a phone call - the staff said they wanted me to have an update because it was her first night and knew I'd be worried. She ate dinner, made friends, and even asked to go to bed. They checked on her every hour and she was sound asleep. There is nothing easy about making this choice but there are things that can make it better - for me I needed someone to just do the little things. I was (am) so emotionally and physically drained that I needed someone to just help with keeping her busy, talking with her, letting me move her things in before she even got there, etc. That is what helped me and made the difference. They have tons of activities but right now I have no report on them. My mother is tired and a bit confused, but hopefully I can update this review later to give feedback. I can see that right now at least she is doing the best that one can in this situation.

I am the marketing director here at Canterfield of Fort Myers. A little biased but also more insightful to the daily routine of the facility I review Canterfield as not only a place I would let my parents live but also somewhere I would be happy to live in my senior years as well. I love this place. The staff is wonderful. The residents are wonderful. The building is wonderful. Everything is truly wonderful. Never have I ever worked somewhere I have loved so deeply. I enjoy coming in Monday through Friday to see my residents and help other seniors find a place to age with true comfort and happiness.

Canterfield has provided assisted living and memory care services for both my mother and father. This new facility is attuned to each resident's needs, and provides them with the comfort and care they deserve. I am advised of my mom and dad's status and wellbeing on my weekly visits, and have provided me with their educated guidance on teaching me how to engage with them as we reach different levels of dementia. Lovely dining area in assisted living, and open congregation/dining/activity area in memory care. Delicious meals! Thank you Canterfield for being there for us all!

We vetted over two dozen assisted living communities and toured 11 before choosing Canterfield. It absolutely sparkles. Resident suites have tray ceilings, beautiful crown molding, and bright lighting. Each suite has its own temperature control. The dining room is elegant, and the food is delicious. Staff is professional and attentive, and pricing is competitive. Canterfield actively encourages residents to join its many activities. This is in stark contrast to other communities we toured. Many simply passively allow their residents to languish in front of a TV. The quality of life at Canterfield is truly wonderful. Mom is delighted to be here.
