I have been here for two weeks. They take great care of all your needs. I ask for help and they are at my apartment before the end of the day (if they can). The people who work here are the so nice. The people who live here are very friendly. Any person who is looking for an independent place to live look here first. Don't look at the other place in Delray.

I enjoyed the tour and felt right at home. The staff were very accommodating and knowledgeable. The couple of residents I came across were welcoming as well. The Casino and pool area really got my attention. I am seriously considering the move into the Verena.

Warm, Welcoming, and Beautiful Community! I recently visited Verena at Delray, and I was so impressed by the entire experience. From the moment I walked in, the staff greeted me with genuine warmth and professionalism. The community has such a positive and vibrant atmosphere ” residents were smiling, chatting, and clearly enjoying the many activities available. The grounds and common areas are spotless and beautifully designed, giving the whole place a resort-like feel while still feeling homey and comfortable. I also loved how engaged the residents were ” it’s clear that Verena at Delray fosters a true sense of community and connection. My brother lived at the Verena for four years. There were periods when the services were erratic. With the new ownership, management, and upgrades to the facility, I would now say that, with the current pricing, this is a great value if you are looking for an independent living situation in Florida.

I can’t say enough good things about Verena at Delray! From the moment you walk in, you feel the warmth and friendliness from both the residents and the staff. The community is always clean, beautifully maintained, and full of life. The activities are well planned and keep everyone engaged, from fitness classes and outings to special events that make every day enjoyable.

We recently toured the Verena. The apartments and building were beautiful. We spoke with many residents and they were warm and welcoming. The problem was the management staff! I had a very difficult time getting the sales director to return my calls- often leaving 2 to 3 voicemails and never receiving a response . During our tour she seemed preoccupied constantly checking her watch/phone . We stopped to talk with residents and she went to her office. I was so disappointed with the tour I spoke with the facility director who did NOT apologize or even acknowledge my concerns. He proceeded to tell me they would get back to me with a price. I did receive 2 messages after our visit from the sales director regarding price and availability- unfortunately the lack of respect and communication with a potential resident led us to go elsewhere.

A couple of years ago this residence was purchased by an equity group based in Chicago. My mother has lived here for six years. Before the change of hands, the residence had a food service manager and a chef, both pros, who turned out simple but nutritionally balanced and appealing meals for over five years. The new management has done an admirable job of renovating and remodeling the facility, but they immediately began gutting the food service budget. Things bottomed out in late 2022 when a spate of food poisoning affected a significant percentage of the residents. Shortly after, they attempted to pass off pressed, processed meat products as chicken cordon bleu and beef brisket. The turnover in the kitchen has been constant, with no chef or sous chef lasting more than a few months, most of them unqualified. Last summer they found a chef who was truly committed to quality, but he left in frustration, since food sourcing and menus are dictated by corporate. In my recent visit I was served a salad in which most of the lettuce was browning, and the vegetables were overcooked to the point of being tasteless mush. Recently, the dish of the day has become increasingly unhealthy : sausage, pork fried rice, and cheese blintzes. There seems to be little consideration for the dietary needs of an aged demographic. Starting a year ago, many residents have resorted to ordering hamburgers every night, as they perceive this as the only safe option. When confronted with meal-related concerns, local management are condescending and dismissive, and while the corporate VP offers assurances, nothing fundamentally changes. It’s clear that they just don’t care. What should be a moment of conviviality with friends, has now become a source of apprehension. If you’re considering living here, or placing your loved one here, please forgo the private lunch that is offered, and instead ask to eat in the late afternoon with the residents, so that you can see what they are being served for dinner. An update, responding to Verena’s post on 1/12/24: Their corporate officers always sincerely express their regrets regarding any disappointments concerning food service, reassert their commitment to quality, and promise to make improvements. This has been their MO for the past two years. Yet, what matters are results. Here’s excerpts from reviews posted online by family members of residents in recent months: The food offered is horrible, The food is of very poor quality with no options to choose from. Many residents are skipping meals, The choices, quality and portion sizes of the dinners are unacceptable - I am so disappointed in the way the dining room is run. And an excerpt of a post from a recent director: The corporate office does not support the staff - This is "Independent Living" at its worst - I would NEVER recommend it as a place to live. If the well-being and satisfaction of the residents were really a top priority for Verena, they would hire a qualified chef, source reasonable quality foodstuffs, and serve well prepared, nutritious meals. They could turn the situation around in a week’s time..if they wanted to.

My mom has lives there. She is happy, with the people and her friends which is why I gave 3 stars. However, since the new ownership, they seem to be doing a lot of renovations to attract new residents and are not taking care of the loyal residents they already have. The food is of very poor quality with no options to choose from. Many residents are skipping meals. Offering Tacos to the elderly is not appropriate when there are no other options. They need to do better.

Wonderful experience! Haven't yet been here one full week and I feel like its been home forever. Food is excellent along with the service. I came with my dog and she is being treated wonderfully. Perfect for anyone of any lifestyle. And very important to me swimming pool is just right temperature and I can do laps. Join us at the Phoenix!! Alvin

Finding oneself in the position to have to seek out a comfortable place for a loved one in need of an Independent Living environment is a difficult one. My family researched, visited and compared several options in the Delray area and are so grateful to have found The Phoenix. The staff is extraordinary! My first contact was with Nadja in sales, who was incredibly helpful and gracious. She so impressed me by her ability to assess my brother’s individual needs. The communication with Olivia in the business office has also been friendly and efficient. Makes paying bills a bit easier... Their Executive Director, Andee Hasbrook is accessible, flexible and compassionate - attributes that serve to enhance the reputability of The Phoenix. The sensitivity shown to his circumstances and their resources to create a comfortable, lovely environment for him to thrive physically and emotionally has definitely made this transition easier. Maintaining one’s independence but feeling secure that there is always staff there for an emergency situation was a priority. The right price range with onsite PT, excellent amenities, delicious meals and being able to bring his feline buddy was equally important. He’s been there for over a month now and has benefitted from the Physical Therapy, pool, housekeeping... and he enjoys communicating with the chef who tries to accommodate his tastes. While we hope this will be temporary, he has been able to adapt to this new situation. With this move, we are hopeful that he will have less stress, become stronger and more able to take care of himself in his own apartment in the future. I need to add that it is even a pleasure to call over there as the receptionist Amy's ebullient greeting always makes me smile!

I have been very impressed with the overall environment and Team at The Phoenix at Delray. The Phoenix at Delray is not just a place that my Father lives in it is a place that he has made many friends and calls his home. I think Andee, the Executive Director, and the entire Team has done a wonderful job at ensuring that the entire Community at The Phoenix has been able to navigate successfully during the Coronavirus Environment that the entire World has been facing for the past year. The Phoenix at Delray is an outstanding Independent Living Environment for Individuals that are looking to maintain their Independence while having the knowledge that their is a Team available 24/7 to assist them if they so desire. It appears that every one that works at The Phoenix are kind, helpful and dependable. I am so very happy that my Father found The Phoenix and decided to make it his home for the past year and a half.

Looking for an Independent Living Facility, l have been impressed with The Phoenix at Delray. The Staff is cordial, helpful and caring and it is reassuring that they are concerned with the wellbeing of the residents specially regarding their health, their safety , their nutritional needs. Visiting a friend for the first time with my mother-in-law and we were very impressed! A lovely, modern, very clean and well-maintained environment. The staff is very friendly, accommodating and caring and places it's residents first. My mother-in law absolutely loved it and couldn't stop commenting on how comfortable it seemed and how she could see herself living there some day. It was like resort living with the comforts of home! The residents seemed very happy and that was a pleasure to see.

My Mom moved into The Phoenix almost a year ago, and it has been an exceptional experience. She's constantly busy with all the new friends she has made (and old friends she discovered also lived there). The leadership and staff could not be nicer, more cooperative or responsive. If I could give them more stars, I would. They have also done an exceptional job of keeping the residents safe and engaged since Covid-19 hit. Every day I give thanks that she is not living alone during this difficult time, and that she is well taken care of and happy. Particular kudos to the leadership and staff for pulling off a small miracle yesterday when the county health department gave them less than three hours notice that they were coming to The Phoenix to give residents the first dose of the Covid vaccine. Everyone pulled out all the stops, and managed to pull it off. By the time dinner was served, everyone who wanted it had been vaccinated. What a relief to know they all ended the day safer than they started out. If you or a family member are thinking about independent living, I highly recommend looking at The Phoenix.

The Phoenix was my mother’s home! She lived at The Phoenix for over 2 years and even though an independent living facility, if I needed help or someone to guide me, the staff was always willing to help me from afar! I am so pleased with my decision to move to the Phoenix. The entire staff including administrators, chefs, waitstaff, housekeeping and maintenance team address all our concerns with care, and dignity. During this time of social distancing and quarantine they have done an excellent job of implementing steps to protect us all.

Continual assistance with my personal problems as I'm totally alone here. Meals, here, are as good as most professional restaurants. Prior to the need to restrict our leaving here, I had facility bus transportation to the Veteran Affairs building for my doctor appointments along with my hearing aid tests and supplies. I also had access, here, to exercise rooms, movies, live entertainment, lectures, etc.

I was here 1/6-2/4/2020 to visit my mom. She moved in 6 months earlier after selling her condo. I booked one of the guest suits, which is the same as a 1 bedroom apt. It was more convenient than staying at a local hotel and gave me the opportunity to really see what is going on here. I received nothing for this review although you might think I have. All the staff I met (administrative, maintenance, food services and cleaning) were friendly. While each apt. comes with a full kitchen, the monthly rent includes breakfast and dinner. I had several dinners with my mom at her table in the main dining hall. There were also 5 other women there. After the 2nd dinner I quietly commented to the waitress that she had the patience of a saint. From what I experienced, all of the wait staff were friendly. The food is VERY good with varied menus each day. The white linen table cloths pass my mom's high standards. There is the aptly named "happy hour" daily at 4:00pm when wine and snacks are served. Since moving in my mom has begun to socialize again, having made new friends and leaving her apt. to participate in the various activities offered within the community. I am happy my mom moved here.

The Phoenix is a wonderful independent living facility! I can't say enough wonderful things about each and every person that works at The Phoenix...they all have a great attitude and go out of their way to make you feel at home! Our aunt recently moved in...she has a lovely apartment with a balcony and couldn't be happier! The food is fantastic and Scott and his staff make sure the residents are happy. Our aunt met the mayor and the vice mayor of The Phoenix and they are amazing! They immediately welcomed her, introduced her to the other residents, and made her feel very comfortable. Ivey is wonderful...has the answers to any question you have regarding The Phoenix. Also, The Phoenix has a great location, close to malls, restaurants, food shopping and anywhere else you want to go! And they have transportation! It doesn't get any better!!

I moved into The Phoenix 2 months ago and have not stopped smiling. It is the first time in a very long time I could say I felt at home somewhere. The other people who live here have been so nice not to mention the staff, from the people in the front office to the Chefs that make the most delicious food I have ever had. I just couldn't be happier anywhere else just don't tell my children.

My Mom loves it there!! The staff is warmi and caring and very professional. When Mom wasn't feeling well they called her to check up on her and let the family know. The apartments are beautiful and the facilities are top notch! Meals are great and there are more and more activities added regularly. Now there is entertainment on Saturday night. Great choice for a senior single or couple and a terrific alternative to living in your home or considering assisted living.
