Solid and decent. Not fancy, this is not-for-profit low-income housing, but it's sound. Thick walls, no neighbor noises. Good water pressure and always plenty of hot water. The community room has vending machines, a small library, and a share area where residents swap useful things they don't want anymore. Card night, bingo night. The parking lot was just re-done, looks sharp. Nice shrubs and plants, outdoor seating. Centrally located, near stores and restaurants, and two bus lines. Parking is scarce because the lot is small relative to the building, but there's a free public lot right across Palmetto. Affordable, water and electric are included, and there's a roof antenna for television. Good value for the price. Update 12-10-25 For some reason they are not turning on the heat when it gets cold. The heat is centrally generated, so we don't get heat unless they chose to turn it on. No explanation has been offered.

The administrator [name removed] may be the most unkind person I've ever met. She has no heart and shouldn't even be near the elderly. She mistreat and bull's the residents to the point of moving out. Many residents have applications elsewhere only because of her rudeness and talking down to the residents.

Taking a tour with a nice representative and seeing an efficiency apt I wanted convinced me that I should apply for the next availablity. I got a call that my application was accepted and so, I was ready to gather my belongings and buy some furniture...then, a family member called to let me know my niece and grand-niece are ill and they need me for several weeks. Although I have to pass on the apartment now, I sure hope I will be accepted again. (So sad)

We were here only two weeks when what they thought was the air conditioning was flooding everywhere. This was a very traumatic thing for us. The ac workers came 3x which should have led management to realize it wasn't the problem. Budget, I think, is a problem here and the poor administrator has to apply many bandages. But I recommend it if you can handle the prompt workers coming often.

I didn't visit, I live here now. I am a stone's throw away from the beach, which makes this place worthwhile. A lot of the residents are friendly, yet those who don't want to be involved aren't. The staff is small, but generally pleasant. Must be 62 to move in but at least we are all in the same age range of baby boomers for the most part, which makes communication easier. If you are over 62 and need a new place to live, come check it out. Additional comments: We just went through Hurricane Ian. This hurricane put a great strain on an otherwise pleasant community of senior citizens. The power went out around 11:30 AM on Thursday, September 29, 2022 and left the entire building in the dark because apparently the generator wasn't checked ahead of the scheduled arrival time for Ian to strike. The generator was eventually fixed, by the next day, but in the meantime we senior citizens were told we were on our own. This was said to us by the bldg administrator as she hiked up and down 7 floors in the dark stairwells. The elevators also were not working, and they continued to not work until 5 days later, 2 days after power was restored to the area surrounding our bldg. It seems there was a misstep by the admin and maintenance here at the bldg in helping to restore the power to people's apartments. Because of a 5-day power outage all of our food in our refrigerators/freezers had to be disposed of. People came from other WC communities to do a cook-out for the people here and some of us were told that as soon as they left the electrical workers parked across the street from our bldg would be coming over to restore power. That never happened and, in fact, across the street was a staging area and resting spot only for some of the power company crews. The seniors who live here are not stupid or ignorant and need to be treated with more respect than was dished out with the pasta salad. The equipment, i.e. generator and elevators should have been tested well in advance of the impending hurricane. Shame on whoever did not do their jobs. I like living here, but I would like to have someone working in the bldg who cared even the slightest bit for us seniors.

DESANTIS posted today: I’m pleased to announce that I’ve directed FDEM to update Florida’s emergency order on long-term care facility visitation. The updated order has four main provisions: 1. Removes the current prohibition on children visitation. 2. Eases restrictions on outdoor visitation. 3. Clarifies that there are no social distancing requirements for compassionate caregivers. 4. Eliminates the 5-person maximum number of general visitors. This update will provide residents in long-term care facilities with greater opportunities to safely visit with their loved ones.

It was home due to my low income for 10+yrs; I saw 2, then 3rd Manager appear in 2020; the maintenance staff is strongly short staffed, the housekeeping engineer Patty can't keep up with the spotless cleaning in the building she's been there for 10 years and counting, lots of cleaning is being neglected etc; the meeting room on the ground floor has newer furniture donated thanks to Gina Mora; there are nice everyday. Tenants but also very rude, crude, loud and lying individuals. The state needs to overlook the handling of their section 8 caseloads from mid to late 2020 with a new Inspector, preferably. The building is strong [perhaps the windows could use replacing sometime soon. Thank you

KUDOS to Gina Mora, Westminster Daytona Manager and your competent staff for managing the air conditioning outage with finesse. I'd also like to commend Alex Mookerjee and visiting Westminster staffers for their help. You all did a tremendous job getting the air conditioning system back in working order. Your decision to provide comfort to the residents in the form of a pizza party with lots of pizza, cold drinks with ice, chips, and cookies were greatly appreciated. Not only by myself but by many other residents as well. The portable A/C units were a BIG hit - the cool breeze was so refreshing to us all - not only the ones placed in the community room but on each floor as well. Last, but not least, our evening culminated when the staff knocked on each door to let us know the A/C was back on...well before 6:00 pm as anticipated. We may not have had much to cheer about these past 6 months but this effort was certainly one of them. ‘ Thanks again!
