Recently, me and my grandmother toured the facility, and we were VERY impressed with the community! The staff were very friendly and personable, and treated my grandmother as family. The rooms were very spacious and cozy, our dining experience was phenomenal, and there was an abundance of activities for the residents. We are planning on moving her in as soon as we can. Thank you for the great experience!

Many thanks to the entire staff but especially to the maintenance crew for their assistance with hand trucks, Dollies, and garbage bins as we moved our Father/Grandfather's belongings from his apartment. During an already difficult time for us, they stepped up with tireless help so that we could efficiently take care of our task at hand.

Kudos to the culinary staff for their above-and-beyond preparation for the winter storm this past weekend! Staff gave up time with families to be onsite so that all of the residents had seamless support.

I accompanied my parents on their tour of Forwood Manor. Brian Abraham provided an informative yet not overwhelming experience. It was clearly evident that he has established a rapport with many staff and residents. The facility was clean and furnished beautifully. Forwood Manor has created a very homey and positive environment. Residents made it a point to welcome us and tell us how much they enjoyed their experiences there.

Brian - thank you SO much to you and your staff and FM community for going above and beyond to welcome our father and all of us to the 'Forwood family'. We felt your genuine interest and concern for our father's well being and we appreciate all of your patience with our seemingly never-ending questions about his move. He initially resisted the idea of 'going to a home' (his words) but once he visited and met all of you and saw your wonderful facilities and talked with many of your staff he was very impressed, comfortable and 'ready to go' for the 30 day trial, but my brothers and I truly believe he will love it and will hopefully decide to make it his permanent residence. We will do everything in our power over the next 30 days to make him as comfortable as possible and know that all of you will do the same. We are so thankful for all that you have done. Again, we appreciate all that you and your team are doing to make his transition from his 60 year home where we all grew up (two blocks away from FM, which gives him 'neighborhood comfort') and where he shared all but the last 8 with our wonderful mother who passed away in 2015. As a local realtor for over 10 years I have gotten the opportunity to work with a few different communities. I have to say that Forewood Manor has an absolutely beautiful campus, 5 star food options and top class staff. They recent renovated many of their apartments. The apartments are well equipped and have quality finishes. If you are considering independent/assisted living in the north Wilmington area, you need to stop in at Forewood for a tour.

Amy Ghebrehiwot is a rock star! Adter touring the community with my mom she remembered every little detail of of needs and likes and interests. When I went to visit the community and the residence unit my mom was highly I interested in, Amy knew exactly all the things that were important to my mom. She demonstrated her caring approach and was not just selling a unit - she was helping mom to envision a whole new lifestyle.

Big shout out to the staff at Forwood Manor! Only 5 days after my Mom and her partner moved to Independent Living she had a medical emergency and spent a few days in the hospital. Her partner is disabled and needed care. The Forwood team sprang into action. Brian, Tia, Pat, Jubian worked together to arrange for a quick transfer to assisted living until my Mom recovers. Their extra efforts helped our family navigate through a very difficult and stressful time. I would like to add that the facility is well maintained with lovely common areas, always clean and inviting. The apartments are the best we saw after touring many retirement communities. The entire staff are caring and responsive. I expect in another 20 years I too will call Forwood Manor my home!

We visited Forwood Manor to see if it was the right fit for my 92-yr old Mom. Everyone we met was friendly and welcoming. Bryan and Amy were so caring and gentle and helped to allay her fears and concerns about such a big life change.

My mother has been in Forwood Manor for more than 5 years and she has received excellent care throughout her time there, both in independent living and, now, assisted living. The caregivers treat her with love and kindness and they treat me like a prince when I come to visit. Mom loves the food! And I never feel guilty about not having her at home because she’s every bit as happy - and much more professionally cared for - than she would be at home.

My mother has been at Forwood Manor for several years, first in Independent Living and more recently in Assisted Living. Her experience in both areas has been exceptional. She loves the food and the activities are wonderful. But most important is the care she gets from the nurses in Assisted Living. They truly care about her comfort and well-being, and my mother appreciates that enormously. And so do I.

My mother has been at Forwood Manor for 3 years as an independent liver (IL). She has a very nice light filled 1br apartment. Plenty of space and 2 nice big closets. All of her needs are being met. Plenty of options for activities. The staff is kind and attentive.

Although my 96 year old mother recently passed, our whole family has nothing to say but the highest praise for the staff of Forwood Manor. She spent 4 years there, first in independent living and finally in assisted living. The entire staff, from the director, to the whole back office staff, to all the receptionists and security officers, to the physical therapy center, the hair salon, and to all the housekeepers and maintenance staff, the behind the scenes cooks, and the darling high school kids who work in the dining room (when there’s not a pandemic), we did not experience one person working there who wasn’t lovely. The residents themselves are also lovely and mother had many friends. Before the pandemic, the place was beautifully maintained and activities were wonderful. They have handled the pandemic with grace and good common sense, to the best of their ability keeping people as safe as possible in a dreadful situation. Although we’re in a strange time in history, presumably when we have this disease under control, for those who are no longer able to live on their own, Forwood Manor is a perfect place.

A letter to future families of Forwood Manor, My brother and I are writing this so that anyone considering Forwood Manor Senior Living knows that they and/or their loves ones will not be disappointed. With that being said, we wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Executive Director, management and all the staff, along with the residents, as they made our parents feel at home since the day we walked in the door almost six years ago. Over the years, both of our parents transitioned multiple times from short-term rehab, to Independent Living, and then Assisted Living, all while never having to leave the community. With each move, they were properly cared for, treated with dignity and given the utmost respect - right up until their recent passing. From the beginning, we have been delighted with their experience, as Forwood has always considered our parents (and us as their children) part of the Forwood Family. We had, and continue to have, the ultimate confidence in how they have been handling the COVID-19 situation. We were always satisfied with their genuine compassion to do right by the residents, but to have full trust in this team was always the most comforting. Having someone that makes you feel welcome and comfortable, especially when it involves my mother's care and security, is a wonderful feeling. This is a beautiful place to live. The grounds are lovely and well-maintained, the staff members are considerate and helpful, and the residents quickly become friends with each other. Individual apartments are large and comfortable, and residents enjoy decorating them with their own favorite furnishings. There are beautiful guest rooms as well, so that out-of-town visitors can be conveniently housed while they are here. The calendar is filled with activities for everyone, according to each person's interests. This is a great place to continue to grow in spirit and to enjoy Life!

My grandmother was a resident there while she was still alive and always spoke so highly of Forwood Manor. Specifically she mentioned the friendliness of the staff, the delicious meals (soup in particular), cleanthiness of the facilities, and all of the wonderful daily activities that were planned to bring the Manor community together. Upon entering the dining room I spotted my friend Brad with a group of his friends in happy conversation and enjoying lunch. Their server could not have been more accommodating to the group. After a diagnosis of COPD, my siblings and I had to move our father to a more "assisted" facility, although he was still able to move around on his own. He lived there for about a year and a half before passing, but he loved it. He continually raved about the staff, the meals and his new-found friends. We would highly recommend Forwood Manor that feels more like "home" than a "facility".

Old Middle School converted into Senior Community. Hallways very dark and long in the Independent side. Staff seems very caring and a good price for the accommodations for elderly love one.
