I have a sister who is struggling with health issues.And yet wanted to maintain her independence. Aviva has been the perfect place for her and we have been very , very pleased with the facility. The staff is constantly checking on her welfare.and everybody knows my sister by her first name. Everyone is remarkably friendly. She cnsiders her beautiful apartment her home now. Special Kudos to marketing director William Whaley for his personal attention at important times of need. have doing careful research too many places in the area, Aviva is my top choice and we are truly appreciative for the care they have given my sister at this very difficult time of her life.

My dad has been at Aviva for a year. The staff has been very attentive and responsive whenever he has needed something. My mother also resided there before passing away. She too, received amazing care and that is the reason there was no other place for my dad other than Aviva. The reason I give them four stars instead of 5 is I believe they need to improve on their wait staff in the dining room. I have spoken with management and they have indicated they are working on the issue. Other than that, I highly recommend.

Aviva has been such a welcoming place for my Mom. The staff has been awesome from the moment we walked in. William took care of all the details to get settled. He was so patient and thorough showing me all the available rooms. Kevin was a huge help with furniture and maintenance to get my Mom’s place together. Also a huge shout out to Larry the van driver for getting her to Dr appointments. She has been truly happy there and has made some great friends. I knew it would be a perfect fit for her with all the music and fun trips, not to mention the beautiful building and proximity to things.

The building itself is absolutely beautiful”spacious yet cozy, charming, and welcoming. Knowing it began as a Catholic school for girls gives it a sense of legacy and purpose, and its later stewardship by Marriott is reflected in the elegant, classic touches found throughout the property. It feels like a place built with intention, dignity, and heart. A major part of what makes Aviva shine is the people who care for it. Kathleen, Romecca, and Linda at the front desk always offer a warm greeting and assistance when needed. Kevin, the Director of Facilities Operations, deserves the highest praise. He and his team keep every corner of the building clean, tidy, and running smoothly. What impressed us most was the way Kevin made our parents’ needs a priority. He put everything on hold so he could focus his staff on expediting the renovations of their new apartment to meet a very tight deadline of the move. His level of commitment and professionalism is extraordinary, and our family is deeply grateful. The clinical care is equally exceptional. Nicole, the Nursing Director, is incredibly kind and attentive, and her nursing staff and APRNs mirror her compassion and professionalism. They are present, patient, and reassuring”exactly the kind of team you hope to find when entrusting loved ones to assisted living. And then there is William, the Marketing Director, who was truly the heart of our journey. Wonderful barely captures what he has been for our family. For more than six months, he stayed in regular contact”checking on my parents’ health, answering questions, easing concerns, and offering any assistance he could. His patience is remarkable. He treated me like a brother and my parents as if they were his own, providing comfort, guidance, and behind-the-scenes support that made everything fall into place. He helped my parents feel confident and at peace with a difficult decision”especially meaningful since they had moved three times in the last three years and were saying goodbye to dear friends. My wife and I had a very pleasant experience when we visited a few days ago to determine if an elderly family member might benefit from Aviva services. The marketing director, William Whaley, took us for a tour and couldn’t have been any more gracious. The facility and grounds are gorgeous and the rooms for residents were very nice.

Last spring, I visited eight different assisted living communities in the greater Hartford area and beyond, and Aviva was the last stop on my itinerary. The moment I walked through the doors of Aviva, and was greeted by their warm, gracious, and bright Executive Director, La'Shell, I knew this was the place for my mom. The facility itself is a gorgeous, elegant, vintage building that was originally a Catholic girls' boarding school. (My mother was a life-long school teacher). The building is surrounded by lush grounds full of old-growth trees and is located in one of West Hartford's most beautiful old residential neighborhoods. The facility has beautiful indoor and outdoor common spaces where a wide variety of activities and social events take place for the residents. The apartments, designed for safety and accessibility, have all the modern amenities and feel homey and not at all institutional. But even more so then the unique historic building and grounds, what makes Aviva truly stand out is the caring and responsive staff and engaging community of residents. We knew the process of moving my mom from her home of 55 years”with her carrying much grief about the loss of her ability to live independently after several significant health setbacks”was going to be extremely difficult. La'Shell and her associate, Will; Nicole (head of nursing), Agathe and Vinetta (the aides on my mom's corridor), Christina (director of activities), Treya (in the business office) and so many others on staff, along with a circle of kind residents, welcomed my mom with authentic care and compassion. It's now been four months since my mom has moved to Aviva, and she has truly flourished there. The improvement in her physical, cognitive, and emotional health has been absolutely remarkable, and I attribute this to the restorative power of living in a caring community.

Situations come and go. This one came on pretty quickly. My brother had to move from a nine-home to a facility that would offer him independent living for the time being and assisted living when needed. We looked at several places in the West Hartford area, as his wife was a patient at St. Mary's Home. One of our stops was Avia on Hamilton Heights Rd. There we met William Whaley. We spent quite a bit of time touring with William. And he took his time. On this visit were my brother, his son, and Delly, along with me. This facility as old as it is, had everything needed to help my brother get adjusted to the downsizing. The CHARACTER of the building is something to behold. Old but still HOMEY!!! A must-visit if you are considering alternative living. William is the right person to help with that decision, along with the staff. Thank you William.

I moved to Aviva about 6 weeks ago. It is a lovely community. Residents and staff are friendly. Residents come from a variety of interesting backgrounds. Will is the Marketing Director. He is very helpful, reliable, and does much more than his job description covers because he puts residents’ needs first.

Aviva West Hartford has exceeded our family’s expectations. The staff is attentive, friendly, responsive, caring, and goes out of their way to make the residents feel at home, engaged, and comfortable ” all that you can ask for. The facility is clean, spacious, and offers many social opportunities for residents. The location near WH Center and Bishop’s Corner can’t be beat. Anyone looking for the next step in senior living would be hard pressed to find something better.

I felt compelled to take a moment to share my experience with Aviva West Hartford. Both of my parents have been residents and in the care of the Aviva team. William Whaley and staff take the utmost care in every detail-from the initial tour to assisting with a smooth transition and of course regular updates on care and well being. Our family takes comfort in knowing that Aviva can provide a safe, comfortable, beautiful environment (it’s a gorgeous colonial revival former school listed on the national register of historic places) with a caring team that can provide virtually every level of care for seniors. I can not say enough positive things about Aviva! William, the Marketing Director, was extremely responsive and found the perfect apartment for my Dad. He responded to all my messages right away, took me to see almost all the open units and was so patient and nice through the whole process. I am so thankful for him and his team. I am currently a resident. I just came up from dinner with nothing to eat. People are waiting for over an hour just to place their order. This is not new. It's been this way for several days. The staff is not to blame. Today the only person in the the kitchen was the chef. People are elderly, using canes, walking with the assistance of a walker or in wheelchairs. They have no other way to get to eat. This is not the way you want a parent to live out their last days. They promise you a great deal but it's a disaster. Also few nurses.

As we searched to find a place for our dad, Aviva really stood out from the rest. The physical location is exceptionally beautiful, but that’s not all! The staff is welcoming and kind. The activities planned go above and beyond what’s typical. And, while we ultimately were unable to choose Aviva, for reasons unrelated to the care available there, it remains on my short list to recommend to friends and family who are looking for a uniquely wonderful home for their loved one. I’m especially grateful to have met and worked with William, whose infinite patience and generous hospitality shone through in every communication. His attention to detail in considering the needs and interests of residents is evidence of the importance he places on making Aviva a great place to live.

I appreciate Shamar from maintenance for his assistance with the heating issue, as he visited twice to address our concerns. He stayed until the issue was fixed. The staff consistently demonstrate kindness and genuine care for the residents. However, I would like to suggest that the hallways could benefit from some vacuuming to enhance the overall ambiance.

My sister-in-law just moved from assisted living to memory care. Staff made the transition so easy. Because she was on a waiting list, they brought her to several memory care programs several weeks before the move. On moving day, she was brought to Memory Care first thing in the morning while staff moved her furniture. In the succeeding days she always had a smile on her face.
