Pomperaug Woods Health Center for Rehabilitative Care - (from my Thank You Letter to the Staff) - You, each of you, were polite, courteous, professional, caring and, above all else, empathetic to my wife's situation and at every opportunity you made her feel welcome and at ease, no matter what the task you were performing. I do not remember a frowning or scowling face, an unhappy attitude, a grumpy disposition. Although this may sound like an old clich©, together you acted and performed as intricate pieces of a well oiled machine “ functioning seamlessly as one as you provided your part in her care. Since our very first visit to Pomperaug, we have been impressed with the physicality of the property, but more importantly Amanda has been a great ambassador. We have visited with her several times for walkthroughs and apartment visits, and had lunches as well. We are looking forward to being able get the floor plan that we desire.

My wife and I have recently decided to move to Pomperaug Woods. We have decided to make this commitment, instead of to another senior living community, for several reasons: (1) The staff are highly qualified, exceptionally personable, well-organized, and highly rated by residents and family members; (2) The facility is well-appointed and maintained, with multiple unit residence options, beautiful grounds, and available storage and covered parking; (3) The contract fees are highly competitive with other high-quality senior community residences; (4) The assisted living and skilled nursing care continuum levels are well-coordinated with independent living; (5) The residents are clearly happy, friendly, engaged with one another, staff, and multiple activities, and well-cared-for; and (6) Pomperaug Woods has a local non-profit history and culture, is owned by a highly respected national non-profit senior living company, and consistently receives high federal, state, and independent accreditation ratings. In looking for our next phase of life residence, Pomperaug Woods not only met all of our criteria, but it far exceeded them. We and our family members are now at peace that we have found our last home -- a community where we can be fully engaged with others, as independent as possible, and supported in our physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.

Even though my mother was only there for a month, and unfortunately her terminal cancer took its toll. I can't say enough about this establishment. I reviewed and walked the premises of six different facilities and by far this establishment was the best in my opinion. There's a few reasons why, and I will explain. First off the staff, starting from Janelle and Courtney to the nurse Erin including all the aids made our family feel as though we were part of their family. It's a small establishment which I really appreciated. It made Mom feels though she was actually at home. In closing I want to give thanks to everybody at this establishment that made my mother's final days very peaceful.

Pomperaug Woods is a wonderful retirement community, with an outstanding and deeply caring staff. We recently celebrated my father’s 100th birthday, and I was particularly impressed by the food service team. They put together a wonderful party, with delicious food and thoughtful decorations worthy of a fine caterer. It was a wonderful party made extra special by a staff that truly goes the extra mile. Kudos to Carol Koty for putting it all together!

First time at PW and had a very good experience with the staff and the ease with getting my mother settled for a rehab stay. All of the staff were very helpful and Mary the speech therapist went above and beyond in making my mother feel welcome.

My father had 2 stays at Pomperaug Woods. The first after a stroke several years ago. We were so impressed with every department from nursing, to rehab, to dietary, and housekeeping. Everyone was professional and the place was spotless. We were lucky enough to place him at PW under Hospice services this past year. All of his caregivers were kind and compassionate to not just my Dad but to my entire family during such a difficult time. Wonderful people, wonderful facility.

It is clear the residents are treated with compassion, understanding and dignity. Lisa, the life services director, runs a great art program! My Uncle has been a resident of Pomperaug Woods for over 6 years. In the past year, we have become more involved in his care and day to day activities. From the front desk to the dining room staff to the executive director, they are caring and supportive of my uncle and his needs. There are a lot of support services available to the residents that are easy to access. From shuttle rides to doctor appointments/grocery store, to help with medications, to physical therapy, Pomperaug Woods has a capable staff. I appreciate all they do for my uncle and all the residents.

Wonderful compassionate dedicated staff who helped my mom during a difficult recovery. Everyone from the maintenance department, laundry, the chef with daily creative healthy meals, Social services, the CNAs and nursing staff they treated my family with dignity and compassion. It was a pleasure to visit a friend and see the wonderful care she was receiving. They truly accommodate everyone to the highest levels. I would recommend this facility anytime, my mother in law lived here for 8 years and I can tell you they were some of the best years of her life! She was so happy here.
