The Ivy at Ellington has made a huge difference to my family. My mother moved into her apartment here a year ago. The building is quite lovely and the apartments are compact but really well designed to be both functional and pleasant. High ceilings and huge windows make them feel airy and full of light. But most important is the people. My Mom had lived in an independent retirement community an hour away where pandemic restrictions made it feel like she was in prison. Just trying to meet her basic needs (groceries, etc.) while keeping her safe in a place with no support system was scary and enormously stressful. It took me a while to fully realize and adjust to the fact that The Ivy is proactively looking out for the safety and well-being of the people who live there---physical and emotional. It’s well managed, but most important, it’s the caring and warmth of the people who work there that stands out. From reception to resident care, activities, business office, maintenance, to the director herself, people are warm, friendly, accessible and open to problem-solving. That’s been so important in these extra-challenging times. They’ve really embraced my mom and our whole family. The decision to make the move to assisted living is hard. Then you have to find the right community. We’re grateful we found The Ivy, where our mom is safe and genuinely cared about as a person. That’s made a profound difference for us.

The worst place you could ever put your loved one, especially in the Dementia unit. The nursing staff and aids are far from educated or trained in this area of elderly care, they hire help that has no experience nor caring needed to help these elderly . I had a camera in my moms room and I saw the most neglect and unsafe actions and abuse!! I actually saw my mom get hurt and needed called the health dept to investigate. They found falsified records and lack of help and human treatment as did I thru the camera I had installed . Please Do not put your loved one in this facility you will regret doing so, they will tell you all is well and everything is fine when in reality your loved one can be suffering as did mine. The head nurse has no knowledge about meds or treatment for dimensia sll she does is fit in her office and avoid phone calls . Be smart and really check out any facility for dimensia , the care is so bad it’s scary !!

My wife and I moved into the Ivy At Ellington about 10 months ago after evaluating several assisted living facilities. She has Alzheimers but I was allowed to move in with her at a small additional cost. The goal was to provide a safe and pleasant environment. After a few months I moved out knowing she was being cared for in the best possible ways. Everyone is friendly and caring which I attribute to this being a family owned facility rather than a large corporate operation. Our children visit regularly and we are very happy with everything here.

My husbands Aunt Marlene is one the first residents in the memory care unit. She is very happy and we are very pleased with the accommodations and prices. The staff is well trained and caring. The receptionist, Cindy, is very warm, caring and respectful with an outgoing personality. We would recommend The Ivy to anyone looking for a special place for a loved one.

Five years ago my sister moved to an assisted living facility in Florida. Over the years, she had steadily deteriorated which we thought was just a normal part of aging. Four months ago we moved her to the Ivy at Ellington. The entire staff has been outstanding in creating a plan to improve her health, decrease her pain and increase her safety and happiness. Today, when we stop in to see her, she is smiling and enjoying life once again. We could not have chosen a better facility in which to put our trust. Thank you to everyone at the Ivy for all that you do to care for those who need a little help or a lot of help.

I can not begin to express my gratitude to each and every staff member at The Ivy. I was so happy to have found this wonderful place for my mom a year ago, but these past weeks have really driven home how truly blessed we are. Not being able to see my mom in this crazy new world has been so difficult, but knowing that she is in a place where she is not just safe and well cared FOR, but also loved and cared ABOUT has made all the difference. I hope to get back to lunches out with my mom soon, but in the meantime I know she is surrounded by extremely competent and capable professionals who treat her and her fellow residents like family.

We moved my mom into the Ivy a year ago in June.rom the very beginning when My brother made the first call and I then went to the facility with my MotherTo look at the place! We were both pleasantly surprised to see how beautiful and accommodating that The Ivy was. I was so impressed with how the staff and Management was so friendly to is upon our first meeting. My mom was excited then to sell her house that she lived in by herself and to get New Furniture for her New home. With some belongings from her house and her New things she made her apt.cute and cozy..Her New home. My mom has had her ups and downs and has been through alot but I have to say a Big Thank You to all of the staff ..the nurses..the receptionists ..and management. You ALLgo Above and Beyond and are kind and Sweet to her!I highly recommend The Ivy @Ellington...Its a good feeling to know that at the end of the day my Mother is in a safe and homelike Environment that we know she is being taken care of!!Thank You Sincerely for all your hard work!!

Moving Mom and Dad into assisted living at was a difficult decision, but the transithion to The Ivy was anything but difficult. The outstanding staff, nurses, therapists, recreation directors, maintenance staff, and, particulary the receptionists, welcomed them with warmth, compassion, and a wealth of knowledge in the care of all residents, and in our case, the memory care program. The moment you walk in you are greeted by the receptionists with a smile and an enthusiastic hello. From that moment on you just know that you have made the best decision for your loved ones. One of the most impressive things about the staff, and I mean every single one of them, is that they know all of the residents by name and are so sincere in all the their interactions with them. The facility is beautiful, perfectly maintained, and filled with homey touches. In fact, it feels like a home away from home, and you instantly know that you are part of the family as well. The activites, entainment, excercise, social hours, parties, and excursions are well thought out and planned to include all residents and their families. In my mind, there is no better place to have your loved ones. Thanks to everyone at The Ivy for providing an opportunity for the residents to enjoy a high quality of living.
