My husband had 2 rehab stays here. I would have to say, they are severely understaffed, especially nights and weekends. Most nurses were compassionate and caring, with exceptions. One nurse consistently told me what he could not do, not what he could do. But waits after calling for assistance were unacceptably long. Some aides were not at all caring and treated patients carelessly. I saw nurses and aides sitting at the station playing with their phones. They do not allow family members access to the small kitchen on the floor, which I'm sure is for liability reasons. But this results in long waits for staff members to bring needed items, or rewarm cold food, or even bring coffee or a beverage to family members. This is ridiculous. Nurses should not be warming food or bringing beverages to family or visitors. It takes up valuable time they could be tending to patients. There should be a small refreshment area with coffee, beverages and snacks, and a microwave available to visitors at all times. The PT person was good, she was consistent and worked quite hard trying to get him ambulatory. Unfortunately my husband did not thrive and wound up back in the hospital.

Castle Peak is incredible. I was there in rehab for 41 days. The staff and the food is 5 star. I did not visit the other sections of the building but they share the staff and the kitchen so I assume it is just as nice.

I am a veteran of two stays at Castle Peak, a year apart. Were it possible to give 10 stars of excellence, I would do so. Every member of the staff is professional, encouraging, and friendly. The Director stops in every day or so simply to say hello; Chef Marty Topor goes out of his way to prepare appealing, well balanced meals and even does special requests. I honestly believe that one of the hiring criteria must be a sunny, empathetic personality - this covers everyone from skilled nursing, physical therapists, to housekeeping, and everyone in between. The staff genuinely cares about you as an individual. They like to make you laugh! Our valley is blessed to have this facility. When I am recovered, I plan to volunteer there - that should say it all!
