The Variel . . . Can you spare a square. My Dad has lived at the Variel for 2.5 years. Unfortunately, it has changed. Staff are great and care about the residents. Management not so much . . . Like my Dad many of the residents can't leave. Dad asked for a roll of toilet paper and was told no . . . Apparently this is the latest management rule. Kinda petty for a "luxury" facility where a single resident is paying 13k a month to live there.

We perform music for Memory Care every month. We would like to perform music for AL too. Sometimes residents stop us as we are leaving in the elevator and they ask if they missed a concert; and how they could join us. We explain that we are booked only in memory care. Music brings joy for everyone. We play live stringed instruments and perform Americana style tunes. Sympatico Music.

Really nice place, except the DRAG RACING on the streets at night! I nearly crocked when I heard the loud noise. Why is the street not patrolled at night? My elderly friend lives on that side of the complex and said that she has to deal with that noise nearly EVERY NIGHT. MY GOD! Oher than that, I had a pretty good time.

Hello “ My name is Kim Guzinski, and I am one of the Territory Managers with the therapy dog organization called Paws-to-Share. We have had a partnership with the Variel for at least a year now and I wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation for Rashon’s support, as he has been a constant presence at our Saturday visits now for several months. Rashon is always so kind and speaks softly with all the Variel residents and visiting family. The Variel is one of the only senior living facilities that I have visited that the family members hug Rashon as a thank you for just listening, answering questions, or just being a calm caring companion to their family member living at the Variel. Viewing Rashon’s interactions with both residents and family members I am impressed with his compassion and ability to remember all their names, quirks, and histories. He also is so patient and thoughtful as he does the Newsletter review, plays interactive games, and puzzles, and even shows educational shows about dogs to entertain residents while our dogs are visiting. This makes our visits so much more rewarding. His great leadership in the Memory Care unit along with excellent communication skills ensures our visits are successful and meaningful for the residents. If I had an extra star or 2 , I would use them! I was so happy and impressed with everything about The Variel: Staff is better than great; they all need a raise! The chef was super cordial. i was in the food biz for years, and it is clear, the residents are very happy. The entire property is miraculously clean! Brovo. we moved in August , 2024, Apt was great , Assisted living well operated , however the food very poor , now after three chef changes the chef is very good , some meals are excell , others are good , hope he stays !!! Most services are well run ,dining room service needs improvement . All in all its a nice place to live Hope this helps you make your decision ., MARTY

Thank goodness I found The Variel. My 2 bedroom apartment is spacious and cleaned weekly by caring and well trained staff. Every staff member, server and worker has made me feel welcome and called me by my name since my first day. Smiles accompany greetings, and you know they are happy you're here. The food is delicious and the amenities excellent. Entertainment has included both jazz and classical concerts, monthly in-house opera and daily movie opportunities, card games, art projects, jewelry making, lectures, and more. The welcoming committee ensured that I could navigate where to go, and even driven me to lunch and shopping in Calabasas. The assisted living services are kind and helpful. Thank you all! My in-laws were promised major amenities that were not provided: induction stove tops (electric stoves are not safe enough for seniors), bathtubs, height conscious design that could accommodate residents of shorter stature, etc. The move-in was repeatedly delayed for months due to permit and construction delays. The executive staff are inexperienced and operating with questionable attention to resident safety. Residents were not given adequate support during emergency announcements and evacuation procedures. This company is not delivering on what it promises based on the outrageous rents they charge. ---- Response to the "owner" response: So the PR managers want me to out my in-laws -- so that they get special perks? Or to target them for harassment? If this company already has made many promises in bad faith (especially now relating to rent increases) I don't trust anything they could promise. Additionally if they are offering special perks, then all residents should be entitled to these. Everyone is entitled to an emergency and safety plan and they haven't had one for 2 years. Increasingly long waits at the cafeteria. Any illusions that this place is some kind of utopia is completely a sham. There's now petitions and threats of lawsuits. Get everything in writing.

Moved my mother in today and couldn’t be happier with the building, property, amenities and amazing staff. This is definitely equivalent to a 5 star hotel experience and will no doubt be the place to be for seniors looking for a luxury experience in the valley. We were fortunate enough to be referred to the variel pre-opening and immediately fell in love with the promise of a four seasons type of community for our mom. A senior community that didn’t previously exist is the west valley was just what we were looking for. While we were a bit reluctant to commit almost 8 months in advance of the opening, the variel made it simple with a money back guarantee if we wanted to cancel. We signed up our 78 year old mother and have been completely thrilled. Laney, who is the director of sales is effervescent, knowledgeable and a true dynamo. It is extremely rare when a business promises the moon and stars and actually exceeds expectations. We moved our Mom’s contents in today (although she won’t physically be moving in for a few weeks) and the staff and services couldn’t be any better. We truly felt that we were moving into a 5 star hotel. Numerous teams (including: engineering, housekeeping, maintenance and concierge) all stopped by to see if we needed any assistance. We met with the big wigs: Josh and Jim and they were as lovely as we could expect, making sure that our move in was flawless. It is so rare that a business overdelivers on what they promise. Variel did just that and more!! Thank you to all involved in making a seamless day for our family (Even lourdes who was my point person but unfortunately was out sick today called and texted throughout the day to make sure that we were being properly attended to!!) all in all an amazing experience!!! Looking forward to my mom moving in and for the variel to help her create som terrific memories.

We can't wait to move in to The Variel. The staff have been very professional, friendly, and fun to be around. We've enjoyed regularly-scheduled events that allow us to meet our new neighbors and to sample what programs we'll have when we move in. It will be great to be freed from the responsibilities of home ownership and to be in a beautiful environment with great amenities.
