Thank goodness I found The Variel. My 2 bedroom apartment is spacious and cleaned weekly by caring and well trained staff. Every staff member, server and worker has made me feel welcome and called me by my name since my first day. Smiles accompany greetings, and you know they are happy you're here. The food is delicious and the amenities excellent. Entertainment has included both jazz and classical concerts, monthly in-house opera and daily movie opportunities, card games, art projects, jewelry making, lectures, and more. The welcoming committee ensured that I could navigate where to go, and even driven me to lunch and shopping in Calabasas. The assisted living services are kind and helpful. Thank you all! My in-laws were promised major amenities that were not provided: induction stove tops (electric stoves are not safe enough for seniors), bathtubs, height conscious design that could accommodate residents of shorter stature, etc. The move-in was repeatedly delayed for months due to permit and construction delays. The executive staff are inexperienced and operating with questionable attention to resident safety. Residents were not given adequate support during emergency announcements and evacuation procedures. This company is not delivering on what it promises based on the outrageous rents they charge. ---- Response to the "owner" response: So the PR managers want me to out my in-laws -- so that they get special perks? Or to target them for harassment? If this company already has made many promises in bad faith (especially now relating to rent increases) I don't trust anything they could promise. Additionally if they are offering special perks, then all residents should be entitled to these. Everyone is entitled to an emergency and safety plan and they haven't had one for 2 years. Increasingly long waits at the cafeteria. Any illusions that this place is some kind of utopia is completely a sham. There's now petitions and threats of lawsuits. Get everything in writing.

We were fortunate enough to be referred to the variel pre-opening and immediately fell in love with the promise of a "four seasons" type of community for our mom. A senior community that didn't previously exist is the west valley was just what we were looking for. While we were a bit reluctant to commit almost 8 months in advance of the opening, the variel made it simple with a money back guarantee if we wanted to cancel. We signed up our 78 year old mother and have been completely thrilled. Laney, who is the director of sales is effervescent, knowledgeable and a true dynamo. It is extremely rare when a business promises the moon and stars and actually exceeds expectations. We moved our Mom's contents in today (although she won't physically be moving in for a few weeks) and the staff and services couldn't be any better. We truly felt that we were moving into a 5 star hotel. Numerous teams (including: engineering, housekeeping, maintenance and concierge) all stopped by to see if we needed any assistance. We met with the big wigs: Josh and Jim and they were as lovely as we could expect, making sure that our move in was flawless. It is so rare that a business overdelivers on what they promise. Variel did just that and more!! Thank you to all involved in making a seamless day for our family (Even lourdes who was my point person but unfortunately was out sick today called and texted throughout the day to make sure that we were being properly attended to!!) all in all an amazing experience!!! Looking forward to my mom moving in and for the variel to help her create som terrific memories.

The Variel is new & growing. The people are really nice and helpful, the administration, the residents, the rehab staff... It is costly but it is a beautiful environment

We can't wait to move in to The Variel. The staff have been very professional, friendly, and fun to be around. We've enjoyed regularly-scheduled events that allow us to meet our new neighbors and to sample what programs we'll have when we move in. It will be great to be freed from the responsibilities of home ownership and to be in a beautiful environment with great amenities.

Moved my mother in today and couldn't be happier with the building, property, amenities and amazing staff. This is definitely equivalent to a 5 star hotel experience and will no doubt be "the" place to be for seniors looking for a luxury experience in the valley. Hurry and check it out before it is sold out!!
