My late husband was a resident at Shalom for over a year until his passing in 2019. I was completely satisfied with his care at this lovely home in Woodland Hills. The caregivers hired by the owner, Dina, were always kind, friendly and most importantly competent. I am thankful that I was able to give my husband this care in his last days.

My father suffered with dementia for quite some time. He stayed at home as long as it was possible and safe. When the time came for placement we searched all over Los Angeles. Most of the homes were similar in that they seemed to lack attention, smelled, food looked bad, were not clean and just did not feel like a true HOME. When we met Dina of Shalom we were enticed with her manner and confidence. We listened to her 'story' of how she found herself in this business and she also listened to our 'story' of who dad was, who he is and what was important to us. Then upon visiting the home we were sold. Dad was at Shalom for over a year. Each time a family member would visit (unannounced) we were completely pleased with our findings. Dad was clean, his clothing was clean, he was shaved...the home was clean and just felt like a HOME! The employees are remarkably kind, attentive, compassionate, personable, light and professional. Dina runs a VERY tight ship with a very high standard. Food is freshly prepared DAILY and I am not talking about a microwave! They truly make all attempts to engage the residents. The home is in a lovely area, safe, clean and the back yard is actually quite relaxing. I could not have found a better place for my father and could not have asked Shalom to provide any more than they did for my father and for the family. They keep constant communication with us and were totally responsive to our concerns and requests! It was a very positive experience leaving me with one final word to describe Dina and her team...RESPECT and that is the bottom line!

My husband showed symptoms of Early Onset Alzheimer's at about 58 years old. At around 64, once the disease had progressed to a point where full-time care was necessary, he entered Shalom Elderly Care under Dina's direction. Whenever we would visit we found him dressed, well groomed, cologned and, seemingly, content in his surroundings. The care he was given by Erikhe, in particular, as well as all caregivers, was very good. I was aware of the many issues that seemed to plague families facing caregiving of their elderly/ill family members--never was there an issue with any level of my husband's care at Shalom and the facility itself is kept up very nicely, indeed. We were most grateful for our ability to provide this level of care for my husband, Steve, and just as grateful that Shalom was brought to our attention by Sue Pomerantz at Concepts for Living. Thank you, Dina, to you and your family and staff for your assistance and your support with this horrible disease.

My husband spent the last year and a half of his life at Shalom Elderly Care and I am convinced that he would not have lived even that long without the loving care he experienced at Shalom. As much as we had tried to care for him at home, he actually got a little stronger at Shalom, until the disease eventually took its inevitable course. I am so grateful to Dina for giving us that time together in a beautiful, light filled, spotlessly clean environment that he loved so much. I am grateful also to the loving care givers, especially Angelo, Ochie and Ike who treated my husband like family and who, I might add, were excellent cooks, often adding my husband's favorites to the daily menu. As a minister for 33 years I have visited elderly and chronically ill parishioners in all kinds of facilities. In my opinion, none can hold a candle to Shalom Elderly care.
