Things have changed quite a bit at the facility in the past few months (not for good) and if you don't visit frequently or talk to the residents then you are sadly misinformed. I posted a one star review on Pinnacle Senior Living because they are the ones that own the Whittier Glen Assisted Living facility, along with several others in CA and other states, and I believe they NOT the Whittier Glen staff are responsible for the negative changes at the facility. I hope Pinnacle Senior Living can get their act together. The residents deserve better and so do the employees. UPDATE: this was previously categorized as an assisted living facility on yelp. It is now categorized as a rehabilitation center. I'm not sure what type of rehabilitation they are offering, but it certainly isn't from alcohol because when you arrive and park in the parking lot, you will see a group of men at tables that have umbrellas who are imbibing with open containers. these men also dominate the area and others that live there are intimidated to smoke in that area even though that area is supposed to be for all residents. "Management" needs to step up to the plate and do something about these bullies that are controlling everybody else's enjoyment of the facility. all residents pay some type of rent, whether they are on state assistance or whether they full pay and if you are fully paying, you should be appalled at what is happening at Whittier Glen. do better Whittier Glen!!!!! I can say the maintenance director and crew are helpful. I had some big items to move and they responded quickly to lend a hand. So good job!

My brother suffered a stroke over five years ago and he is paralyzed on his left side. He needs a lot of care. He has been in several different care facilities over the years. He was verbally and physically abused at two facilities which made an already difficult situation very difficult for our family to have to deal with. He has been at Whittier Glen assisted living for over a year now and from what I've observed over the past year is that the people who work there and care for the residents are very kind and caring and take good care of my brother as well as the other residents. They hold fun functions and events for the residents and their families. They do their best to make it a loving and caring environment . Itzi the director, Jaelyn the administrative coordinator , Michelle the receptionist, Liz in accounting, Anthony a caregiver to my brother is an Angel and Scott the maintenance man have been friendly and always willing to help. No facility is perfect but these people definitely do their best. Living an hour away from my brother makes it hard to be there to make sure he is ok and having to trust other people to give him the kindness, compassion and care he needs isn't easy either especially given our past experiences but the people I mentioned definitely help put my heart at ease. And for that I am grateful.

My first impression of the place was "Ok" (Not the newest but certainly CLEAN, BRIGHT and WELCOMING ) but as I have been working in the healthcare industry for almost 20 years, I always know its never about the "LOOK" of the place but rather the "PEOPLE" who cares for the residents. The staff's level of care and compassion is truly heartwarming. From the moment you step through the doors, you can feel the genuine concern and dedication they have for each resident's well-being. Not only that, you will be welcomed by their mainstay residents who happen to love and thrive at Whittier Glenn! The staff at Whittier Glenn go above and beyond to create a supportive and nurturing environment for seniors. Their attentiveness to individual needs and their willingness to listen and adapt to each resident's preferences is truly remarkable. It's clear that they view each resident as a unique individual and treat them with the utmost respect and kindness. The impact of the programs offered at Whittier Glenn is profound. The range of activities available is impressive and designed to cater to a variety of interests (From Luau, Arcades, Summer Olympics, Exercise Programs... etc) These programs not only keep residents engaged and active but also foster a strong sense of community. The staff is always friendly and they go above and beyond to help my father. They are always available 24/7.

The nursing staff are lazy,mike the director allows violence among residents and has a the place needs to be mopped and sanitizer thier food is high in carbohydrates/sugar So diabetic staff suffer basically they do the bare minimum neccessary in order to collect a check.

The happy staff at Whittier and the long-time residents truly are the charm of the community. When reviewing the old & dated negative reviews, please don't believe them. They are a complete contrast to what you will find at Whittier Glen today.The administrator and caring staff have such an optimistic disposition. They hire the right employees who strive to make a positive contribution every single day. You can feel the comfort and freedom of the residents and staff as they move around daily. Though there is organization and schedules, you don't feel the restrictions of strict rules that one sometimes expects with senior communities. There are many activities to choose from, but flexible schedule options without pressure to attend. Great food menu and snack options, but overall the most enlightening is the freedom to move around freely and be yourself. There is a lovely and down-to-earth element to this place! 🙂

I am not surprised that the other reviewers have posted 5 stars. Whittier Glen Assisted Living employees are not just workers; they CARE about the residents and everyone is treated as family. If your relative is ready for the next level of care do not hesitate to speak with a member of this great ‘team’! Sofia is a very kind and helpful Administrator. The facility itself was very clean and there were a lot of smiling faces from the staff and residents.

I walked in here a month ago and in 10 minutes decided this is where my grandma needed to be. Its a small location which actually adds to the charm. You can drive by it and never realize it was there and I found it when my referral guy told me about it. The director was super sweet and toured me around. She showed me the rooms she had available, explained what I needed to get signed, and it was clear why there were only 2 spots available. Call them before coming through because she clearly had other people waiting for rooms. It figures that you can tell a lot by a community like this by how many spots are free. Staff are super nice, it smelt clean, and Im excited to have grandma in a boutique spot close to me in Whittier.
