My mom moved in June 2022. She had a flood in her home and was convinced she’d be going back. Well, four months later, she decided to stay at Merrill Gardens. She said there’s lots of activities, and the food is excellent. She has made friends there, and enjoys having people to talk to. I visited several times and the staff are all nice but not intrusive. Perfect. The people who live there are sweet and friendly. This place is head and shoulders above the rest, even more expensive places. I’ve been in and out and out of many of them for three other elderly relatives. The positive reviews before me are true! The other thing that impresses me is, we had a small issue and the Executive Director, Sherry, personally helped me solve the problem. They are indeed like a family.

I am super excited to write this review on such an exceptional senior living facility as Merrill Gardens located in West Covina. I have been blessed help advocate for a 91 year old Marine veteran who was my mentor 40 years ago. When he decided to move from Alabama to Southern California, I helped take him around to visit and consider several senior living facilities. When we contacted and met with Ms. Sherry Fischer who is the General Manager, we were first impressed with her professionalism and even more impressed with the genuine care, concern and compassion she displayed while providing us with a presentation and a comprehensive tour of Merrill Gardens. It was such a great first impression that it didn’t take my mentor long to decide to make this place his home. Now that he has been a resident for three weeks, words cannot convey just what a wonderful facility Merrill Gardens really is. It is a super clean, well maintained and smooth-running facility. The many wonderful amenities include a movie theater, roof-top terrace with a resident maintained garden, game room, fitness center and spa just to name a few. The daily highlight of my mentor (and seemingly all the residents) is breakfast, lunch or dinner in the facility restaurant. In visiting my mentor, I have eaten five meals there myself and have to say that the food is well prepared, healthy, tasty and perfectly proportioned It is obvious that every person selected to be on staff are screened and meticiously vetted to ensure that only the highest quality personnel are hired to serve the residents. Each staff member seem to know all residents by their first names and truly to go out of their way to show residents that they are valued family members. What separates this facility residents from all the other ones we visited, is just how well all the residents interact and get along with each other. There is a universal joy and happiness that is shared between all the residents which one of the things that make Merrill Gardens such a great facility for both residents and their guests. Ms. Fischer and her staff have created an award winning climate and culture which is producing an award winning facility.

Merrill Gardens is a great community for a loved one. I have been in the senior care business for a number of years and decided to place my mother there when it was time. The staff treats my mom extremely well with dignity and respect. Because of her memory loss my mom needs prompting to go to meals and activities. After being there for a few months, I knew that I made the right decision. Every body knows my mom by name and she now knows that Merrill Gardens West Covina is her home.

My 84 year old grandma has been staying here for the past 6 months she loves everything about it! From the food, activities, and friends! But, Most importantly the staff! So many places to chose from since we are always so busy. But I will forever choose this place! A great place to live!

My 98 year old Mom moved here in early February and is very pleased with MG. It is new, clean, contemporary and has a very friendly staff. Other residents are friendly and reach out to newcomers.She does enjoy her bingo! She is ambulatory with a walker and walks daily. Staff have been very responsive to her needs across the board. Happy she is here.

My mother, Rose, was a memory care resident at a Merrill Gardens location for about 17 months. The monthly cost for her to live there was indeed a good value when compared to alternative assisted living facilities in the region. The premises was beautiful and immaculate and she was fortunate to have been the first resident ever to occupy her apartment. During her stay, she was looked after by many dedicated staff, several of which were angels who approached their duties with extraordinary caring and effort. That said, working with and caring for people with dementia presents its own challenges that really require professional medical assessment and treatment beyond the scope of any assisted living facility. So, my takeaways from the perspective of hindsight include the need for getting a thorough diagnosis from a neurologist prior to taking residency and deferring to the medical providers contracted with Merrill Gardens (or any assisted living facility for that matter). Even with this caveat, day to day caretaking and service provision in all probability exceeded what other assisted living facilities were offering, providing. As far as my experience with the local management of the Merrill Gardens where my mother was at, Id rate the lower level supervisors, managers as exceptional whilst the general manager of the facility was more in the ballpark of borderline adequate overall insofar as the memory care unit was concerned, in my opinion. Notwithstanding my less than ideal rating of the general manager, Id be remiss to not say that Tana Gall, President of Merrill Gardens, whom I had occasion to speak with, was everything one could hope for as a leader of a company providing residential services to the senior population.

My Mother moved into Merrill Gardens (champions gate) in the fall. We are all so happy with everything. Basically my Mother lives in an upscale resort. The staff is more like family to us not just staff. I highly recommend Merrill Gardens. Its a dream and blessing.

I moved into Merrill Gardens with my husband and brought my little dog to be with him and help take care of him. Everyone was so nice to us and always there when I needed them. He was happy there which was so important and I would recommend Merrill Gardens in Renton to anyone because not only everyone was friendly, always knew our name and made us feel welcome staying there. I love them all very much. After he died I stayed for a few weeks because I needed there love. Ann Duby

The care, concern and helpfulness shown my mother and all of us, her family, including the out of towners, (me) has really been extraordinary. Mom had deteriorated at her previous facility and we had to make a fast move which was stressful for everyone but the outcome has been better than we could have ever anticipated. Mom has regained strength and function, she is now out socializing and we can finally relax a bit. Choosing a care facility is hard but we are certainly feeling like we made the right choice.

These activities are all the doing and planning of my very talented and amazing cousin, Laura Newkirk Cardoza! She loves planning these activities for her other family! My Mother-in- law lives in Merrill Gardens Siena Hills Memory Care. She has always been my mother (and not "in law") since the day we met, and I love her dearly. She originally moved into their Assisted Living in 2009, but was already showing signs of dementia, and my husband and I chose Siena Hills because they had a beautiful memory care building to move into when the time came. For the almost 9 years that Mom has lived at Siena Hills, I have lived far away in Chicago and now Minnesota, but I have never once worried that she was not completely cared for while I was gone. She has been in memory care for several years now and I fly out and visit her quite often (we always share our birthday celebrations there) and each time I visit she is happy and healthy and the staff are so wonderful. The most important thing to me is that I know it is the same way when I am not there thanks to activities director, Julie, staying in communication with me to share happy stories, videos and photos. I receive hand written and decorated notes in the mail from my Mother-in-law for holidays thanks to Julie. When I visit, I am surprised to see how varied and lively and personally targeted their time is spent in activity. They are always so busy. I would be worn out living there! But I have never felt guilty to have her living states away knowing that I chose the VERY BEST for her in Siena Hills. Thanks to them, she has a whole quality of life and daily purpose in her twilight years. She is happy and laughs and I never have to miss a single minute of it thanks to family communication! Thank you to all of the dedicated and loving staff at Siena Hills for the love you give all your residents!

Merrill Gardens, I loved this company since day one. They go above & beyond for their residents. They have a bunch of different activities & do what they can to make their residents happy & feel loved. They also truly value their employees & treat them with respect & kindness.
