My mom lived at Cogir for 5+ years in their independent living section and it was nothing but exceptional. Despite having many residents, the staff know the names of everyone and incredibly friendly and helpful and patient. The activity options are varied and fun. The community is stunning. Everything is clean and beautiful. The residents have food option choices that are sure to meet the needs of even a picky eater. For every holiday Cogir decorates and has theme activities and food. There isn't anything negative or critical I can say. I highly recommend Cogir.

My parents have lived here for many years. The staff are amazing. Though there are changes that have occured over the years- for the most part the transitions are seamless. There is comfort in knowing that the residents continue to be their priority. I do need to give a shout out to Ashley and Zeah, the dining room waitresses. They are fabulous! With the changes happening with the new chef- these two are honoring the comfort of the residents as well as honoring the changes. Ashley should be acknowledged for her advocacy and mentoring position she has taken on. It's hard to find people who have a true calling for this work. Please hold on to them- they are diamonds! Every time I visit- I leave reassured my mom is receiving the best care and oversight. She is extremely happy. At 91 she gets up every morning looking forward to the days activities. Thank you Cogir!

When it came time to put my aunt in hospice care, the team was helpful. We were looking for a retirement community for a family member and I'm so glad we were referred to Cogir of Vallejo Hills. It was the best in so many ways. Elisa was great, we were sold immediately. The grounds are beautiful, full of trees and greenery. It's tucked away up on the hill. The units are updated and very spacious. All the employees are friendly and helpful. It's a very welcoming diverse community filled with great people. I'd highly recommend.

When I was searching for the right senior living facility, I visited twenty different places. My criteria were simple but essential: spacious apartments, good food, and most importantly, trustworthy staff with genuine attitudes. At most facilities, I encountered the same overly cheerful, scripted welcomes and flashy greetings. While pleasant enough, something crucial was missing that I found with Elisa, Community Relations Director. She did what she said she would do. This might sound like basic customer service, but it was remarkably rare. When Elisa promised to send apartment configurations, she sent them. When I asked questions she couldn't answer immediately, she said honestly, "I don't know, but I'll find out and email you the answer." And she did “ every single time. You'd think this would be Marketing 101, but most other facilities either ignored my questions entirely or only answered the ones that served their sales pitch. Elisa's reliability and honesty became a deciding factor in my choice. I needed to know I could trust the people who would be part of my daily life. Even after I moved in and signed my lease, Elisa continued advocating for me, ensuring that Cogir followed through on everything they had promised before I committed to living here. The apartments are indeed spacious as promised, and while the food is acceptable compared to other facilities I visited, what truly matters is having staff you can depend on. I'm not sure I would have chosen Cogir of Vallejo Hills without encountering Elisa's exceptional integrity. Since moving here, I've observed that Elisa brings this same genuine approach to her interactions with all residents. She listens “ really listens “ and when she says she'll take care of something within her power, it gets done. She makes time for residents even when she's busy showing prospective families around the facility. In my experience, Elisa embodies the qualities that make a senior living community feel like home: reliability, honesty, and genuine care for the residents.

Cogir at Vallejo Hills is a great active senior community! Our Mom moved in at the end of last year. She has a cousin there and they hang out all the time. It was a great decision to move there because I haven’t seen her this happy in years. I have to say that Leslie Waters Zarco is sure a bright light for all who meet her and have a chance to do excursions with her. She also busses people to the stores, appointments and whatever else is needed. She is such a kindhearted lady and perfect for the job she has. She brightens your day and makes life fun! She’s truly an asset to Cogir!

Came to Cogir today to do 3D scanning for virtual tours and was blown away by how delightful this place was. It smelled nice and was clean. The employees that I interacted with were insanely friendly, nice and helpful. The units were spacious and updated. The grounds were well kept. They had tons of activities and trips. To me the facility was coming and serene and seemed like a great place to live retired life.

My parents are moving in to Cogir of Vallejo Hills next week. I went there to drop off some heavy items for them before they arrive. I was pulling up to the front entrance and a car pulled up behind me. A woman got out of the car and immediately approached me to ask if i needed any help. Her name is Leslie and she was absolutely an angel! She is Cogir's driver. She drives the residents to appts, etc.. She was so incredibly helpful and friendly and so kind to me! She went out of her way to help me and I was so grateful!! The person at the front desk was also so friendly and welcoming and helpful. And the General Manager is wonderful too! She drove 45 minutes to see my parents recently before they move in. I feel so confident this will be a wonderful experience for them!

I have a family member staying at this residence and was very impressed when I saw that they now have a security guard standing at the driveway entrance to the facility and once I drove up to the main building entrance there was another security guard in a security vehicle with its security lights on. Really made me feel good knowing my family member was living in a secure environment. I have always thought this living community was a good choice and this just makes it that much better. I also noticed that the shrubbery was being replaced and making the outside more appealing. The staff is also very helpful.

My sister needed to come out to west coast to be near family as she was getting up in age. I was told of Cogir Vallejo Hills by a longtime friend whose mother lived there . My sister has been here a while and loves it. The residents are so friendly and we often say most could teach young people about their great outlook on life. The staff are highly motivated and seem to enjoy their jobs.

From the moment my sister and I stepped into the facility, the staff was so friendly and helpful! The grounds are absolutely lovely and it is apparent that the residents are very happy. My parents finally made the decision to sell their home and move into something that was all one level and Elisa was extremely helpful in calming their fears. Hello, my name is Nelson. I've lived in Cogir of Vallejo Hills Senior Living since August 2023. Cogir has a welcoming staff and friendly residents. It is a caring community and has support groups. It is also pet friendly. In a short period of time since living I have been pleasantly surprised!There are so many activities such bingo, dominoes, craft classes, card games, poker, movie nights and groups for body & fitness, Christian fellowship, gardening etc. There is a special filet mignon birthday to celebrate all the bday celebrants of the month. There is a community party every Friday afternoon with live music, drinks and refreshments. They serve delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared by chef Saverio and the kitchen staff. I don't have to be concerned about remembering to pay the electricity and water bills separately since everything is included in one monthly price, which is a plus. There is even a van that takes residents to field trips and errands, shopping and doctors' appointments. Leslie, the van driver, graciously and safely takes us to various places. Living here is like living in a vacation resort where there are beautiful trees, plants, benches and comfortable seats everywhere to relax and enjoy the surrounding atmosphere, indoors and outdoor. This retirement facility has provided me what I needed and exceeded my expectations. I cannot ask for anything more. In short, I highly recommend Cogir of Vallejo Hills Senior Living. I found my perfect place to retire peacefully and happily!

My mom recently moved in last month and we both couldn’t be happier. She was living alone in poor health down in Los Angeles about to hit the big 80 and just feeling lonely. She finally gave me the green light to find her a place closer to me and I jumped on it. I knew the minute I stepped into Cogir that this was the place. The grounds are beautiful and well cared for, the staff are all amazing going out of their way to make sure not only my mom feels happy but me as well. The food is great, they have many activities, spiritual service on Sundays, social hours, a nice library, hair dresser, you can have a pet cat or small dog, and nice views from the apartments, some even have bay views. . My mom’s old apartment in LA had a view of a wall. Now she can look out her window and see birds hanging out in the trees and bushes. She and I both feel she is safe and well cared for.

I’ve lived at Vallejo Hills for over ten + years now. What immediately attracted me to this facility was the grounds. The vegetation in the trees are absolutely beautiful and in spring the grounds are covered in all varieties of roses. We also have a grape arbor here. Another attraction is the staff here. Every employee goes out of their way to ensure that residents are happy. It’s nice to know when you retire that you can come to a place and be welcomed and be able to enjoy the amenities that are offered.

It is very secure, using COVID precautions and has closed building precautions. Monthly fees include food currently delivered from cafeteria, once weekly housekeeping, weekly linens washing, emergency pull cord in bathrooms and apartments have a small patio big enough for seating and small table. Pets are also allowed with security deposit. Grounds have walking paths as well.

My old friend, Ward was on chemotherapy; he'd been having problems with daily tasks, shopping, cooking, cleaning, etc.. He lived lone, 130 miles away, and as time went on, I grew more apprehensive about his ability to care for himself. He was in a rural area, about 1 1/2 hrs from Modesto, and quite a distance from even a general store. I finally sent him boxes of food from Amazon and Costco, and contacted him daily. Finally, with his doctor's help, he contacted an agency and caregivers came in daily. He asked me to check out condos or small apartments in this area, which would be a bit less expensive than Contra Costa county, where he used to live. I suggested an assisted-living facility, and checked out a few in this (Vallejo) area. This seemed the nicest; it's a woodland setting, and there are interesting activities for residents. I attended a few, and felt this would be perfect fit for his needs and personality. The logistics were complicated. Jim Tubridy at Brookdale Hills suggested that Ward could come from Modesto by Amtrak. Then he could tour this facility (and another one) and stay overnight. That solved THAT problem! Jim also arranged for his tickets on Amtrak, and a ride afterward from Amtrak to his home by Lyft! I picked Ward up at the Amtrak station in Martinez, and took him to Brookdale where he had dinner and stayed in guest quarters. I drove him to another facility the next day, then on to Amtrak. He arrived back home by Lyft. Everyone was so helpful, even though at that point it wasn't certain that this would be the place he would choose. He's been in Brookdale Hills about 2 weeks, and I've visited several times. They do a 5-point check on residents in the assisted living quarters, (making sure that he is o.k. 5 times a day) and supervise his medications. He even got his legs rubbed down one morning (he has neuropathies.) The food is great, (I've eaten there twice.) The best part of this place are the people. They know each person by name, and are very involved with them. Without Jim Tubridy's help, I don't know how we would have managed! There is also an independent-living building. I've been at this Brookdale often enough, and it's a great alternative to in-home care. I am 79. This is a place I would choose for myself. Betty Chypre
