A Community Defined by Exceptional People: Our Cogir of Vallejo Hills Experience When searching for the right independent living facility for my parents, I quickly learned that beautiful amenities and well-maintained buildings can be found at many places. What truly sets a community apart is its people—and this is where Cogir of Vallejo Hills shines brightest. Elisa Graber: A Trusted Partner in Our Journey! From my very first conversation with Elisa Graber, I knew I had found more than just a sales professional—I had found a trusted advisor. Over the course of our five-month search, Elisa became an invaluable guide, offering insights that helped me ask better questions at all facilities, not just Cogir. Her knowledge and genuine care elevated my entire search process across more than a dozen Bay Area communities. What distinguished Elisa was her unwavering dedication that extended far beyond typical business hours and job responsibilities. She patiently answered hundreds of questions—not only from me but also from my parents, who were calling from New York, often at inconvenient times. She never made us feel rushed or burdensome. Instead, she acted as a connector, referring us to local services and vendors that smoothed our transition in countless ways. Elisa’s professionalism, paired with her authentic kindness, made what could have been an overwhelming process feel manageable and even comforting. When we finally moved my parents to Cogir, we discovered that Elisa wasn’t an exception—she was a reflection of the community’s culture. From the chef who personally delivered my parents’ first meal, to the front desk staff who patiently helped them navigate transportation services, to the responsive facilities team who addressed every concern promptly, we encountered the same spirit of hospitality and genuine care at every turn. The facility itself is stunning—a true hidden gem nestled in the Vallejo Hills. But what makes it truly special is the community that thrives within it. The residents clearly love living there, and after visiting weekly, I understand why. My parents are safe, cared for, and surrounded by warmth. As the family member who conducted the research and continues to visit regularly, I can wholeheartedly recommend Cogir of Vallejo Hills. When you’re entrusting a community with your loved ones’ well-being, the people matter most—and Cogir’s people are truly exceptional.

I have a family member staying at this residence and was very impressed when I saw that they now have a security guard standing at the driveway entrance to the facility and once I drove up to the main building entrance there was another security guard in a security vehicle with its security lights on. Really made me feel good knowing my family member was living in a secure environment. I have always thought this living community was a good choice and this just makes it that much better. I also noticed that the shrubbery was being replaced and making the outside more appealing. The staff is also very helpful.

My sister needed to come out to west coast to be near family as she was getting up in age. I was told of Cogir Vallejo Hills by a longtime friend whose mother lived there . My sister has been here a while and loves it. The residents are so friendly and we often say most could teach young people about their great outlook on life. The staff are highly motivated and seem to enjoy their jobs.

From the moment my sister and I stepped into the facility, the staff was so friendly and helpful! The grounds are absolutely lovely and it is apparent that the residents are very happy. My parents finally made the decision to sell their home and move into something that was all one level and Elisa was extremely helpful in calming their fears. They moved in the first part of March and wished they would have decided MUCH earlier to move into Cogir Vallejo Hills. My sister and I are so grateful that they are in such a supportive community now as we both live in the midwest and are only able to get out there once a year. Thanks again, Elisa, for all your help!

Cogir is the best! On a recommendation from a friend I came for a tour. I was not disappointed. Life is grand, here at Cogir. I lost my husband and then my mom. I did not want to live alone. At Cogir I have a comfortable one bedroom apartment. I have friends, activities to keep my mind occupied plus wonderful meals served in a dinning room with servers, table cloths and smiling faces. I'm delighted. I'm not sad. I feel blessed!! Thank you, Cogir of Vallejo of Vallejo Hills.

My mom recently moved in last month and we both couldn't be happier. She was living alone in poor health down in Los Angeles about to hit the big 80 and just feeling lonely. She finally gave me the green light to find her a place closer to me and I jumped on it. I knew the minute I stepped into Cogir that this was the place. The grounds are beautiful and well cared for, the staff are all amazing going out of their way to make sure not only my mom feels happy but me as well. The food is great, they have many activities, spiritual service on Sundays, social hours, a nice library, hair dresser, you can have a pet cat or small dog, and nice views from the apartments, some even have bay views. . My mom's old apartment in LA had a view of a wall. Now she can look out her window and see birds hanging out in the trees and bushes. She and I both feel she is safe and well cared for.

I’ve lived at Vallejo Hills for over ten + years now. What immediately attracted me to this facility was the grounds. The vegetation in the trees are absolutely beautiful and in spring the grounds are covered in all varieties of roses. We also have a grape arbor here. Another attraction is the staff here. Every employee goes out of their way to ensure that residents are happy. It’s nice to know when you retire that you can come to a place and be welcomed and be able to enjoy the amenities that are offered.

Great staff, food, activity director being replaced so activities are hit or miss right now. Helen, the nursing director goes above and beyond! Beautiful setting with ample gardens and ocean views from some of the rooms..if you can get one it’s a bonus!!

It is very secure, using COVID precautions and has closed building precautions. Monthly fees include food currently delivered from cafeteria, once weekly housekeeping, weekly linens washing, emergency pull cord in bathrooms and apartments have a small patio big enough for seating and small table. Pets are also allowed with security deposit. Grounds have walking paths as well.

Premium location for a premium retirement community! We offer Independent and Assisted Living with resort style service and amenities along with highly qualified support staff. Our award-winning Chef, Saverio, uses only fresh meats and fish while sourcing all of his produce from the Vallejo Farmers Market IF he didnt grow it himself in our on-site garden!

My old friend, Ward was on chemotherapy; he'd been having problems with daily tasks, shopping, cooking, cleaning, etc.. He lived lone, 130 miles away, and as time went on, I grew more apprehensive about his ability to care for himself. He was in a rural area, about 1 1/2 hrs from Modesto, and quite a distance from even a general store. I finally sent him boxes of food from Amazon and Costco, and contacted him daily. Finally, with his doctor's help, he contacted an agency and caregivers came in daily. The logistics were complicated. Jim Tubridy at Brookdale Hills suggested that Ward could come from Modesto by Amtrak. Then he could tour this facility (and another one) and stay overnight. That solved THAT problem! Jim also arranged for his tickets on Amtrak, and a ride afterward from Amtrak to his home by Lyft! I picked Ward up at the Amtrak station in Martinez, and took him to Brookdale where he had dinner and stayed in guest quarters. I drove him to another facility the next day, then on to Amtrak. He arrived back home by Lyft.Everyone was so helpful, even though at that point it wasn't certain that this would be the place he would choose. He's been in Brookdale Hills about 2 weeks, and I've visited several times. They do a 5-point check on residents in the assisted living quarters, (making sure that he is o.k. 5 times a day) and supervise his medications. He even got his legs rubbed down one morning (he has neuropathies.) The food is great, (I've eaten there twice.) The best part of this place are the people. They know each person by name, and are very involved with them. Without Jim Tubridy's help, I don't know how we would have managed! There is also an independent-living building. I've been at this Brookdale often enough, and it's a great alternative to in-home care. I am 79. This is a place I would choose for myself. Betty Chypre
