I rarely write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience with Silverado. When it was time for me to move my mom from assisted living to memory care, I did a thorough search of many if not most memory care facilities in south Orange County. I chose Silverado and here's why: 1. The staff truly stands out. This is their vocation, not their 9-5 job. They know just how to handle the residents, and do so with care, love, dignity & respect. They "meet people where they are". My mom was so stressed out when she got there, trying to navigate assisted living with her decline in memory. Now she knows she is safe and feels special and doesn't have a care in the world. Sheila & Casey are always free to discuss any concerns that I have, and truly have become friends as I navigate my mom's "new normal". 2. The residents are engaged. At other facilities I saw the residents all being wheeled to sit in front of a tv set. At Silverado they are busy with staff in cooking class; trivia quiz's; art projects. 3. Silverado believes that this is the resident's "home" it's not a facility. You see it in the design of the building, it's all one floor with a big sized central courtyard. There are resident dogs throughout. (Residents can even bring their pets with them) 4. The food is exceptional. They don't cut corners, and there's an attention to detail. They say to family members, this is your home too, and we can visit, or come for a meal anytime. It's just a nice place to be! If you are in the position I was, and searching throughout Orange County for a memory care facility for your loved one, I highly recommend Silverado San Juan Capistrano.

From the greeting at the front desk, the cleanliness of every hallway and room, the care and communication that we receive if there are any changes in status or medication, the meals, the activities and crafts, the music performances and special events - all make this a wonderful place for mom.

Strictly memory care and a lockdown facility. Nice place and they take great care of their residents. I love that they have lots of music for their residents and also lots of friendly animals who roam freely among the people. Good caring atmosphere.

Outstanding, highly personalized care. Silverado makes the effort to understand each resident, and find the best of them as they go through their journey. Everyday I say a prayer gratitude that I am able to have my father in such a positive place during such a difficult time.

Silverado in San Juan Capistrano has been a fantastic community for my father! The staff love their jobs! They are patient, happy, caring, professional, knowledgeable and fun. My dad has settled in and is happy when I come to see him at all different times of the day. The residents are well cared for and clean. The food is good and the activities are creative. The entire community is always very clean. The staff regularly checks in with me. The community invites families to special events. It's great to get to know other families. Our entire family is so happy that our dad is settled at a wonderful place like Silverado. He won't have to move again. He deserves the best and we are grateful for Silverado's skilled staff that cares for him!

Silverado SJC is a fantastic home for my mom and all of the other residents. Every associate, from the cleaning staff to the main office, knows every residents' name, as well as the names of the regular family visitors. The residents and visitors are always greeted in a friendly manner. There are many fun activities to keep the residents happy and engaged. I love that the residents are free to go anywhere inside or outside the building (patio areas) freely. Everything is very open there. The food at Silverado is excellent, as they have a wonderful chef. The resident cats and dogs, which are allowed to roam freely, make the residents feel happy and at home. There are no strange smells, like at some memory care places. All in all, Silverado San Juan Capistrano feels like home to my mom, and the staff has become like a family for me. The management will bend over backward to accommodate any needs that will help the residents and their families.

When my dad entered Silverado he was not an easy resident to care for. Our lives had been turned upside down and we were at the end of our rope trying to care for my dad. The staff and family at Silverado lovingly welcomed him into the community. They were creative with helping him assimilate and even during the times where we know he was difficult, they would share with us all of the special, loving qualities that my dad would express during easier moments. We could tell that they had really engaged with him and had gotten to know him on a really personal level. We would see the staff regularly hug him and smile and connect in the most thoughtful ways. Silverado has allowed our family to just enjoy loving my dad and seeing him in a safe, caring and connected environment. We are so grateful for everyone at Silverado!

I first visited Silverado with a friend five years ago and filed it away under: If anyone I love ever needs memory care, this is where I will come. The place is magic. Freshly groomed pooches pad the hallways, overstuffed chairs cradle curling cats, and residents walk, walker, and wheelchair through the wide memory box studded homey hallways. In the winter, the courtyard is aglow with twinkling holiday lights; in the summer, bright-hued flowers wreath the grounds as music wafts through the area. Sing-a-longs, thoughtful discussions of contemporary topics, flower arranging, painting, and live entertainment allow residents to design a full, busy, productive day. Of course, some do not want a schedule and take time to enjoy the beautiful courtyard, visit and "assist" staff, or take a well-deserved nap. Menus featuring fresh salads, mouth-watering burgers, gourmet desserts, special culinary treats, and so much more demonstrate a chef and staff who know what they are doing. Flower arrangements neatly placed on white tablecloths and cloth napkins make residents feel cared for and loved. But, even with all these niceties, it's not unusual to see a resident munching on a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, just for old times' sake! Receptionists, with a thoughtful word, welcome visitors, and well-trained staff greet residents, dance, crack inside jokes, and swoop in, with so much kindness, when the instances of growing older occur. After all, they are a family. Last December, my mother entered Silverado, and I was so worried. Knowing this would be a challenging transition, the administration assigned Gilda to her for three days so she would not be lonely, scared, or lost. She now says the place is wonderful and enjoys sitting in the sun in the courtyard, visiting the staff, singing along, and those delicious meals. Thank you, Silverado. You are truly magic.

My mom has been at Silverado for almost a year and in hospice care for half of the time. I love visiting my mom in the community because I feel like her care team is literally every single person who works at Silverado. I know them all now and love that each knows my mom. Their friendliness to her and to us make us certain that she is getting the best level of care she could possibly get and even at this advanced stage of dementia, she is not forgotten but deeply loved. We feel so blessed to have stumbled upon Silverado and are thankful for the way they love and respect my mom. If I could leave 6 stars I would!

The entire staff is very knowledgeable in all aspects of memory care and truly treat everyone with kindness and respect. Having nurses on staff 24/7, social and cognitive activities available to him, and the staff regularly encouraging him to do his best, we couldn't have asked for more. My parents have received loving attentive care at Silverado. They have been treated with respect. The administrators and nursing staff take our concerns into consideration. The caregivers do their best. There have been instances in which caregivers needed further training to deal with certain situations. When I've brought those instances up with administrative staff, they were addressed immediately. Caregivers have a tough job. Love is what they give, more than anything else. That, I'm thankful for.
