I am a nearby resident of The Granada, and I am increasingly concerned and frustrated about ongoing disturbances and safety issues associated with the building. The fire alarm is triggered at least once or twice daily, often followed by responding fire trucks and ambulances with sirens. This level of disruption has become excessive and is significantly affecting the quality of life for those living nearby. In addition, the surrounding streets—particularly along Hyde and Sutter—are consistently littered with garbage, discarded items, and, daily, human and animal fecal matter. The condition of the area has noticeably deteriorated and reflects a lack of proper oversight. There are also ongoing disturbances caused by certain residents. One individual frequently stands outside in a leather coat, chain-smoking cigars and coughing loudly for extended periods, which can be heard from inside neighboring buildings. Furthermore, residents have been observed leaning or hanging out of windows and, in some cases, throwing belongings onto the street below, raising serious safety concerns. At a minimum, this property requires immediate and substantial improvements in on-site management, resident screening, and enforcement of community standards. As it stands, the situation is creating a growing negative impact on the surrounding neighborhood and long-term residents of Nob Hill. I urge you to address these issues promptly and take meaningful action to restore safety, cleanliness, and accountability at the property.

My friend has a room there. It's large with high ceilings and lots of natural light, a generous foyer and bathroom. The front desk people could definitely be a bit friendlier but for those windows and two working elevators I'd be willing to overlook live gargoyles at the door.

Cool studios. Large, vaulted ceilings complimented with vertically opening windows with a Hostel style bathroom setup. The rooms are on the smaller side and get very hot & stuffy if you have a southward facing window. No fans are provided. The current crew of "on-site staff members" are teetering between faking forced smiles, and doing the ABSOLUTE bare minimum when it comes to their job requirements. Psychologists and/or psychiatrists they are not.... Mentally abusive baby sitter's they are. Period. Point blank.

This is my new place of residence. So far so good. I haven't been there long enough to make a decision if I will stay long? Well, the Granada was not as welcoming as I had hoped. I am eternally grateful for Episcopal Sanctuary Services for giving me the opportunity to give the Granada a try. I am going to move on to a more permanent location at the end of this upcoming month. Happy Bday to me

I lived here temporarily while going through nose cancer and spinal decompression therapy. Bedbugs unfortunately happen but can be irradiated, if owners and management cared about residents. Most do not. A handful of good staff make the place tolerable. Not recommended for long term stay.

EVERY hotel has its share of problems and the Granada is no exception. Most of the staff [management could use a course in <attitude adjustment!>] is cool and the tenants/residents (for me) is like family. The monthly rent is a bit ABOVE market value!

Best retirement hotel in the City for low income and disabled folks. Rooms with private baths are available at an additional cost. A meal plan (three multi-course meals a day) is also available at an additional cost, and the food is surprisingly good and balanced nutritionally. Lots of activities to keep my 79 year old mom active and social, among the normal cast of colorful San Francisco characters she's enjoyed since she came to SF in 1953.

If low cost is your goal this is the right place 3meals a day comes with your stay. No bathroom is the minus...that's right no bathroom in your room. It is a hotel built around 1900 back then hotels had bathrooms at the end if the hall like the Granada

Granada Hotel - This place is located on the outskirts of the Tenderloin, this means there are a lot of negative elements in the area - one of the desk clerks was assaulted by a homeless person urinating on the front steps. Once you move in, you will be fed 3 meals a day - these 3 meals are prepared in a cafeteria style line, and the quality of the food is "institutionalized" think somewhere between the food in county jail and public schools. The rooms are small and have rodents, some of them have bathrooms, but you will probably share a bathroom with your floor - bring sandals! The bathrooms are often left a derelict. The residence are hit or miss, many of them are nice, but there is a good amount of mental illness in the establishment - its quite common to see someone wondering around the hotel naked urinating in the decorative plants. The staff is mostly immigrants - not many English speaking people working here aside from management who is often times to busy to handle anything beyond their desk work. I give this place 2 stars because one, its cheap and easy to move in. And two I don't HATE the place. I personally have a high resistance to filth, bad food, and crazy people - in the words of Hunter S. Thompson "It never gets weird enough for me" I highly recommend this place to anyone in a desperate situation. Its fairly easy to work out an arrangement to work to live - they will tell you 14 hours a week for room and board, but be advised those 14 hours are spread across 6 days and if you aren't careful you will be working odd hours that prevent you from making the money you need to leave the Granada. I will say my biggest personal complaint is that you aren't allowed over night guest. But one of the biggest plus sides is you can smoke in your room.
