We were so impressed with our tour of The Glen at Scripps Ranch. The amenities, the grounds, the friendliness of the staff - it was all anyone could hope for, when faced with considering a life style change. This would be a place we'd look forward to coming home to - so different than some other facilities we visited. The costs and plans were explained well, the dining rooms were first class and the library was wood paneled and beautiful. We were also given the option of spending a night there so we could see close up, what living there would be like. We look forward to doing that in the fall. If considering a move to a CCRC, put The Glen at Scripps Ranch on your list to visit.

An Exceptional Visit to The Glen at Scripps Ranch ” May 29, 2026 On May 29, 2026, we visited The Glen at Scripps Ranch to find out more about it. From the moment we arrived, accompanied by another couple equally curious about what this remarkable community had to offer, it was clear that we were in exceptionally capable hands. Our guide for the day was Michelle Lilie, a Marketing Representative whose warmth, professionalism, and encyclopedic knowledge of The Glen left all four of us genuinely impressed. Michelle began our visit by taking us to a beautifully detailed model of The Glen. She then explained each part of the model with the confidence and clarity of someone who truly loves what she does. Her descriptions of each building, its purpose, and the placement of the many recreational areas were articulate, thorough, and effortlessly easy to follow. She has a rare gift for making complex spatial information feel intuitive and accessible. We then moved into a conference room, where Michelle guided us through the range of available unit types, their sizes, and associated costs with admirable precision. She took care to explain the waitlist process ” a testament to how sought-after The Glen truly is ” and explained several financing options in a way that was comprehensive yet never overwhelming. Throughout, her answers to our many questions were models of clarity and completeness. The highlight of our visit was a guided walking tour of The Glen's magnificent facilities. We were very impressed with the beauty of the grounds, common spaces, and the overall layout. The library, fine arts center, gym, pool, and dining area each left a strong impression, and Michelle's commentary enriched every stop. The tour culminated with a delightful lunch in the dining area ” a fitting and memorable conclusion to an outstanding morning. What set Michelle apart, above and beyond her considerable knowledge, was her character. She was unfailingly professional while radiating genuine warmth and friendliness throughout our entire time together. She demonstrated remarkable intellectual honesty as well ” rather than bluffing when faced with questions she couldn't immediately answer, such as details about specific financing plans, she candidly acknowledged the limits of her knowledge. When we asked about the water treatment procedures used at The Glen, she graciously excused herself, consulted a colleague, and returned promptly with a thorough and satisfying answer. That combination of candor and initiative is rare and deeply reassuring. Michelle Lilie is, in every sense of the word, an outstanding ambassador for The Glen at Scripps Ranch. Her delightful personality, her deep and nuanced knowledge of everything the community has to offer, and her remarkable ability to anticipate questions before they are even asked made this one of the most informative and enjoyable community visits we have ever experienced. She didn't just represent The Glen ” she embodied everything that made it special. Anyone fortunate enough to be welcomed by Michelle is already off to a wonderful start.

This is a "class A" Life Plan Community. It is not inexpensive, but it has a multitude of amenities and activities. In the case of couples, there is a plan that covers almost all of the costs of one resident needing to move into an adjacent facility because of a need for assisted living, skilled nursing or memory care. Michelle provided an excellent tour of the facilities and detailed information so that it was possible to assess the value of different options. There was no pressure to make an immediate decision and there are opportunities to meet residents and to experience and evaluate living there.

My wife and I attended a presentation at the Glenn. Honestly, we had no expectations but were pleasantly surprised by the experience. My wife loved the idea of the art studio and wood shop, I loved the opportunity of Memory Care, Assisted Living and/or Long-Term Care for one or both of us if necessary as we both get older. We both also loved the beautiful grounds and wonderful restaurants. We came back for a second tour which was led by one of the Residency Counselors, Seth Limon. After a wonderful lunch which I could very easily get used to, Mr. Limon took us on a tour of the facility and then met with us in his office as we discussed the feasibility of a match. Mr. Limon really impressed us with his knowledge, kindness and understanding. He went out of his way to help us find a solution to become members of the Community at the Glenn. My wife and I walked around the grounds on our own and asked several residents about their experiences which were all very positive. One lady shared the following with us, "I feel like I'm living on a cruise ship, I love it so much". And since my wife and I love cruising you can imagine the impact that had on us. We highly recommend The Glen for a retirement community as there are so many activities to stimulate a healthy, active, energetic mind and body. The residents here have lived interesting, productive lives and certainly have longevity. We waited a long time to find our perfect sunset home. I knew when I drove into the parking lot for my first tour I knew the Glen was outstanding from everything being spotless and the wonderful attitude of the security guard. And I was correct. In every aspect. I had a tour and a complimentary lunch with two residents. I have viewed several retirement facilities in San Diego and they all fall far short of The Glen. After just four hours I was absolutely convinced I had found what I was looking for and just completed the paperwork for a move this fall. Note: the sales rep Seth is extremely competent and easy to deal with. He made the paperwork fly by.

My mom has lived here for 5 years. Her apartment is lovely with plenty of space for a single person. The kitchen is complete but she eats most of her meals in the various dining rooms because she enjoys the variety quality and social engagement that they offer. There are more hobby groups and social activities than she can possibly attend and there are several dedicated craft rooms. She had an accident and used the onsite medical facility (Ridgeview) for rehabilitation and recovery. As she improved there was a graceful transition back into her apartment with ongoing PT and OT. The staff is consistently wonderful; friendly and helpful from the front office to the dining room servers and the security team We (and she) couldn’t be happier with her decision to move here

Attended sales presentation on 10/19/23. Biggest obstacle is buy-in ranging from $500k to $2million depending on the size of the unit. You can get a refund on a sliding yearly scale with min of 75% in like 10 years. Basically you sell your current house and pay The Glen to live there. You can have visitors for up to 2 weeks, but no kids, only spouse as permanent. Bldgs and grounds are top notch, but did not take a tour yet. They have 3 dining rooms and use a point system to make menu choices very flexible. I need to understand how my long term health insurance would be of use or not. Their selling point is that they offer independent living, then when needed, assisted living, and memory care on site.

Very impressive property. As it's new, everything is bright and shiny. Food in the main restaurant was excellent. You can order in advance for take-out or you can dine-in and order like any other restaurant. Everyone, residents and staff, are friendly and very helpful to newbies. The level of personal service has amazed us! They offer tennis, pickleball, chip and putt golf course, bocce ball, swimming, large putting green, and table tennis (Ping Pong) on the property. There is a gym, with a fitness professional onsite. The villas and apartments are of a higher level of construction standards, and therefore much quieter than other CCRC's we toured in San Diego. The only negative was they forced you to sign paperwork for a 75% return vs the 0% return we wanted. We were assured we would be given paperwork to correct the terms back to the 0% option before moving in. Just feels uncomfortable. But, in the end, all was executed as promised. Note: The Google Map location (9903 Businesspark Ave, San Diego, CA 92131) was the pre-opening sales address. The correct address is: 9800 Glen Center Dr, San Diego, CA 92131. It's east of I-15, on Pomerado Rd about 2 miles--a much nicer piece of real estate than Businesspark!

My mom loves living there and it’s really beautiful with a friendly staff. My review is 3 stars only because my mother has a heart condition and they seem not to be able to accommodate her with the food selection. She has special dietary requirements and they won’t meet her needs but they say they are, by offering her the same simple salad for almost all the meals as her only option. A sort of loophole, I suppose. So she is spending money purchasing almost all of her own food outside and with no credit for the lack of cooperation to accommodate her special dietary needs because of the loophole of satisfying her need with 1 option. I know she has talked to management there many times and they don’t seem to care and are not willing to alter their ways to accommodate her which seems odd since I am sure they will have many other residents that will need special accommodations at some point during there residency there. I wonder if other residents are having the same problem.

My better half and I have moved in November 14th as the first move-in to the Glen at Scripps Ranch. The move was after 5 years of planning and wait of our part. For the preparation until actual moving in, my residential counselor Mike and other Glen staffs helped us a lot in organizing and coordinating. We have now became old time at The Glen for having lived more than two months. Here, life is good for everything. Safety is first here. When risky situation arises, safety staff appears at the door within 2 minutes. 5 star restaurants sure provide all dining choices and options. Restaurant staffs deserve good credit for the dining pleasure. There are gyms, swimming pool, outdoor activities and group exercises with excellent activities leader. I can not list all the amenities we enjoy but if you are considering a retirement place The Glen at Scripps Ranch should be one to be considered and explored. When you become resident of The Glen, you could relax !

We are new residents as of December 2nd. We have been delighted with everything: our home, the staff, the amenities, particularly the restaurants and the other residents. We became involved with the project years ago during the planning phase. From the beginning we had the support of Mike Rogers who was incredibly helpful throughout the multiyear process. He is friendly, helpful and totally committed to seeing that we got what we wanted and needed. Since then we have had friendly help from more than a dozen staff members and are very impressed by both their skill and attitude. We were able to get our first choice of living units and have been delighted with our new home. It is thoughtfully designed and beautifully decorated. Our previous home was ours for 27 years but this already seems like home. We are very pleased with the restaurant's attractive ambience, the friendly service and the quality of the food. We are looking forward to our new life here in the resort like atmosphere of the Glen.
