Reviews Cloisters of the Valley
July 2026
We had such a positive experience with Cloisters of the Valley. The community feels warm, peaceful, and welcoming, and you can tell that a lot of care goes into making residents feel comfortable, supported, and at home. A very special thank you to Tia. She is incredibly professional, organized, and knows how to take care of everything. From the beginning, she made me feel like I could stop worrying, let go, and trust that everything would be okay. That sense of peace and confidence meant so much to me. The entire process felt smooth and well managed, and everyone we encountered was kind, attentive, and helpful. I really appreciated the communication, the care, and the feeling that everything was being handled properly. I highly recommend Cloisters of the Valley, and especially Tia. She made the whole experience so much easier and gave me real peace of mind.

My stepmom has been living here for over 7 years. I can’t say enough good things about Cloisters. It’s the people who make a place excellent. The people here go above and beyond to take care of her. It is very well managed, the care is excellent, and they are all so kind. My stepmom is treated like a cherished family member. I am very grateful for the excellent care they provide. I highly recommend Cloisters! Five stars!

My mom has been in the care of Cloisters Of The Valley for Dementia for a number of years. She is a high needs and difficult resident. I have found the staff and community at Cloisters to be genuinely kind, caring, and compassionate. We love the facility.

I had a wonderful experience with everyone and all their staffs. They were all very accomodating and always ready to help. Their quality of care for their residents is phenomenal. Highly recommended.

My mom has been a resident at Cloister of the Valley Memory Care since 2022, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the care she receives. The current director, Tia Goodwin, is incredibly kind and compassionate ” my mom, who has dementia, even calls her my best friend. The facility feels warm and welcoming, the food has improved, and residents enjoy many activities like live music, celebrations, and festivals. A special thanks to all the wonderful personnel ” the kitchen staff, laundry person, activity coordinator Andrew, and everyone who helps with medications, hygiene, and showers ” for everything they do. I feel completely confident leaving my mom in their care, and the love and attention from the director and staff truly make this place feel like home.

This review is long overdue, but so well deserved. Our family is beyond grateful for the exceptional care and kindness my MIL has received at Cloisters over the past year. From the very beginning, the staff has gone above and beyond to make her feel truly at home. Tia, the director, has been outstanding, compassionate, responsive, and genuinely invested in her well-being. Any time my husband or I reach out, Tia responds quickly and thoughtfully, often sending us photos and videos that bring us so much peace of mind and keep us connected to her daily life. Suzie, the business office director, has been equally wonderful - not just helpful and kind, but someone who shares a special connection with my MIL and considers her a friend. Knowing she is surrounded by people who care for her as a person, not just a resident, means the world to us. We're also impressed by the events team, whose effort and creativity make life fun and engaging at Cloisters. My MIL truly enjoys living there, and it shows in her happiness and sense of belonging. We feel incredibly fortunate to have found a place where she is cared for, valued, and loved. Thank you to the entire Cloisters team for all you do!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Cloisters and was pleasantly surprised to discover this hidden gem in central San Diego. This assisted living community offers the ideal balance for your loved one”just the right number of activities, opportunities to connect with like-minded peers, and outstanding care. The staff is truly exceptional: warm, welcoming, and always ready with a smile to assist with any questions.

A family member was here for a short respite stay. He was very happy with his experience and enjoyed his stay at the Cloisters. Rebecca and Isaac were both very kind and helpful to us when we arrived, throughout his stay and even upon his departure. He had a great experience and would be happy to return to stay again in the future.

When I had to move my mother from a Senior Residence in Connecticut to San Diego because I needed to spend more time with her than I could give her 3000 miles away, I chose Cloisters of the Valley over ll the other places I was shown because of the caring interest of the staff in each resident, and the beauty of the facility and its grounds. She was happy there - her great grandchildren could visit, and engage in the play activities- and the staff and outside services from the administrator Bonnie Dolan on down made her feel special. This was a very good choice for us.

My grandfather received great care and lived very comfortably here. The place is beautiful and kept very clean. The staff are very sweet and caring. I highly recommend this place!

I with My Daughter & A Very Special Friend recently visited here. We were greeted with a warm welcome. This is an outstanding environment for older persons. We were there to drop off sports cards I thought the would be fun for the ladies & gentlemen to look thru or take back to their rooms to remember earlier days. I pray that all enjoyed this idea as much as we did putting the cards together. If you have a loved one, who needs special care, please come visit here.....you will not give a second thought to have your loved one live here at Cloisters of Valley. Thank You Hannah & Emily, it was a joy to meet you both! Annie

Recently we were desperately on the hunt for a assisted living home for my 90yr young grandmother and when I almost lost all hope Cloisters of the Valley was introduced to me and what a God sent. We moved my Nana in just before Christmas and she is so happy the staff is so friendly and she loves it there. And the facility itself is so beautiful and it feels so much like home better then home. Thank God this place was put in front of us it’s the best decision ever made.
