Melody (Mel) has been woking at our home about a month now and we feel like an "angel" has been sent to us. She is professional, personable, very hardworking and has such a pleasant demeanor. She has helped us tremendously with yard work, cleaning, organizing, and preparing and making us delicious and healthy meals. She just jumps right in to help with anything we need. She has a wide range of knowledge in caring for elderly people and the couple of times my husband, who is a disabled veteran, had a medical issue, she instinctively knew how to calm him and help him through the situation. We absolutely love Tresha as a companion for my mother and my sister who was at home on hospice. She is so professional, warm, kind and knowledgable about the care they both required. My brother has cerebral palsy and is autistic. Finding the right caregiver was very important to prevent anxiety. Completing the duties of light housekeeping and running errands with him is only one of the challenges. Nicole has been patient, respectful, responsible and compassionate. She communicates well with him, and with the agency and with me and is a team player. She works hard and is conscientious, cheerful and kind. I wish we could clone her.

Update: Round two. Here we are, post Covid, mom is now in memory care and 2 weeks ago, she fell again and fractured her hip. While she is receiving excellent care in her new home, she needs 1:1 supervision until she regains enough strength to walk independently again. We reached out to First Light again, and they sent CheChe to help. I have to say mom/we really lucked out with her being primary caregiver cuz so far hands down, she is the best caregiver I have ever seen. She is so attentive, kind, gentle, happy, respectful and takes really good care of mom. Just love her spirit and demeanor and genuine care with mom. (Previous review - 2 years ago) After a back injury from falling, we wanted 24 hour care for my mom. She lives independently in a retirement community which has implemented strict visitation and outside caregiver policies due to COVID-19. We dealt with several in home care agencies during mom's recovery. While the caregivers provided by all the agencies were wonderful, Firstlight stood out in terms of communication, responsiveness and professionalism when working with us. For example: Because we were unable to spend time with our mom in person, it was difficult to assess her needs and because we were new to in home care we didn't even know what to ask. Firstlight understood our challenge and initiated the partnership we needed to ensure my mom's needs were being met. After realizing that "it takes a village" to care for your mom during a pandemic, I attempted to build that village with the other agencies we dealt with, with varying levels of success. Firstlight was by far the best in partnering with clients. Most agencies respond with "this is how we do it". Firstlight responds with "what do you need and how can we help".

I wanted to highlight a caregiver named Joni who has been with my great-aunt for almost a month now. She has in that short time gained my utmost appreciation and deserves to be commended for always working from a place of excellence . She treats my aunt with kindness and respect even on the difficult days. She works hard to keep her feed nutritious meals ( prepping even for when she's not there), keeping the house cleaned and takes excellent notes so that I can be kept in the loop when not present. I'm grateful for all she does and my aunt is blessed to have her as a caregiver.

I have tried a few homecare and First Light Homecare is by far the best company I have worked with... Very professional, very attentive and very reliable. Even during sick calls, they make every effort to find a replacement and will train their new employees and orient them to your home. So far the three caregivers we have worked with has been great! It's tough finding excellent caregivers that want to work the weekends. Again, we had a last minute cancellation from another care agency and FirstLight was able to provide an excellent caregiver named Hannah. Arriving on time, she was excited to tell me she lived a few streets over, which made this job very convenient. After a quick tour of the house Hannah stepped up to the plate and cared for Mom in a kind and gentle way. Hannah has a wonderful smile and loving personality that shines through. Mom responded to Hannah immediately with a smile! Hannah has returned many times and gets bonus points for pushing Mom to the local neighborhood park for fresh air and watching the kids play and helping me out with Mom when she was not scheduled!! When losing a loved one, it is very stressful and we didn't always know what to do for our beloved mother. Kirsten spent many days into weeks with her and built a nice relationship under difficult circumstances. At some point, Kirsten knew that Mom loved music, old music, so she played Judy Garland and it really helped Mom relax and sleep more soundly.
