Stonewall Gardens Assisted Living – Reviews
March 2022
I can't express the gratitude my family has for the Stonewall Gardens. My Uncle has been a resident for over four years, and he finally found a place he could belong. They do everything they can to include my family in the day-to-day life of his life. I know if there are any health or emotional changes in real time. I hope you're lucky enough to entrust your loved one to this excellent care.

Hello great
March 2022
I’m not sure I can say enough good stuff about this place! My brother moved to Stonewall a few years ago having suffered from several health issues. As the years progressed, his issues grew. But Brian and the whole crew at Stonewall take such good care of him I don’t think I could or should take over his health care again. Recently my brother had cause to be taken in an ambulance to urgent care. I thought I’d have to bring him home to Minnesota to care for him but I realized I can’t. Stonewall is his family now. And with the amazing care he gets there I know he is in the right place. Love the entire staff at Stonewall Gardens!!!

Stonewall Gardens is one of the absolute nicest assisted living communities in Palm Springs. The apartments are spacious and have privacy. The grounds are very well kept. The community areas are wonderful. The amenities afforded to the residents are spectacular. Best of all, there really is a sense of community between all of the residents and all of the staff. Everyone is very nice and respectful. I know that living in Stonewall Gardens has improved my brothers quality of life immensely and after having rather poor experiences at two other facilities, he feels like he has his life back. The directors, Chad and Brian, as well as all of the staff truly care about the residents and really do foster a fantastic environment. We are very grateful to have found such a wonderful and caring community for our brother. I would give 10 stars if I could!!

I have been familiar with Stonewall Gardens for over five years now. I have had several friends and neighbors move there. Nobody really wants to move to assisted living... but the staff and atmosphere at Stonewall Gardens is welcoming and embracing. This has been a much needed resource to the aging LBGTQ+ community. Many staff share similar life experiences and individuality is embraced. Great care has been taken during COVID and there have not been any infections.Life has many transitions, especially as we age. If I find my self in need of assisted living services, I wouldnt go back in the closet... Id go to Stonewall Gardens instead.

Stonewall Gardens was a life saver for my brother. The staff is absolutely wonderful, so caring and responsive; a special shout- out to Brian Im just the bus driver. As a relative living far away, its been a blessing to be kept in the loop about anything to do with my brothers health, the communication has been exceptional. I love ❤Stonewall Gardens.

I live in the neighborhood, and couldnt be happier to have Stonewall in the area! What a great service they provide, and such a promising future for the growing LGBT community. Im proud for how they impact us all.

I came here to Stonewall 5 years ago after having a brain stroke in another city in Northern California . After getting out of extended rehab, I realized I could not afford the in-home care I required and started looking for assisted living, which could help begin to get me back to the independence I am looking for. I have always been closely align to the gay community so looked there. I decided Stonewall sounded good and I visited for a weeks respite.I was unfamiliar with the concept of Assisted Living and wanted to try that also. When the apartment I wanted became available, I jumped at it, putting my prior home on the market, but now assured of the income I needed to live.Yes there are times I miss my old friends, but they can visit me here, there are nice places to talk, privately, if needed.Ive made a new group of friends, we eat meals together. Have chat sessions in our patio area. The care staff watches over is. They Have learned our idiosyncratic needs, things like how I want my laundry folded, where to put it away, which drawer my socks go in , how to make my bed, things I never thought of when I was on my own, but certainly make my aging process comfortable. The way I had always visioned a facility like this would be. It was a good decision to move here, I figure its the step I need to get to my goal of independence for me. I am not done living my life but can see Stonewall is a key stepping step for me.

I came to Stonewall Gardens at a time when I was getting divorced as well as experiencing a series of falls. As such I was numb and falling down. I was not a happy camper when I sat down with the Director at the time to take care of paperwork and handed over a form from my doctor with his assessment my medical issues along list of medications I was taking at the time. I was introduced to other residents and walked around the property.I had to unpack and took a nap. Later at dinner I sat with five other strangers who are now my friends. Two years later Im the President of the Residents Council, cordial with my ex and not fallen in almost a year.I go to exercise- yoga classes three days a week. Im still using my walker but walking each day around the property. It might not happen tomorrow but I plan to regain the use of my legs and walking with a cane is fine by me. On Thursday mornings we show movies. Most afternoons some of us play Monopoly, Dominoes or other board games.I have diabetes so I try to eat sensibly but on occasion Ive been known to cheat a little after meals. Our mornings and afternoons have activities to please mostly everyone. My favorite time is after dinner when I can read or see whats offered on Netflix, PBS or Turner Classic Movies.Sometimes I feel down in the dumps so I talk with another resident or residents. When I put my head down on the pillow I fall asleep in less than ten minutes. Sometimes sooner.I was in pretty bad shape when I got here but the staff and volunteers do their best to keep us all healthy and happy.Members of the GLBTQ community have not always been treated with respect in their later years. I feel safe here at Stonewall Gardens and Im here until ??????

I cant say enough about the genuine compassion, caring and support this community of residents receives from staff and volunteers at Stonewall Gardens. As a volunteer for over 25 years and a member of the LGBTQ world myself, I have never encountered a more supportive assisted living facility for people who require help fulfilling their lives. The Executive Director, Chad, deserves the most credit for making this community run smoothly in a safe, comfortable environment - which almost has the feel of resort living - that is entertaining for residents, compassionate about their care, and COVID free!

I have visited the historic Stonewall Gardens many times even before it opened. It is historic because it focuses on the needs of the LGBTQ community. The ED, Chad, has led the residence to its potential as caring, efficient, protected, and beautiful. He issued quarantine and a lock down early in the COVID pendemic, clearly a move that kept residents safe. I dont say I cant wait to live there, but I am reassured knowing that Stonewall Gardens is where I want to be if-when I need care, either respite or long-term.

Three years ago a dear lifelong family friend was at the end of his rope, unable to adjust to assisted living facilities anywhere. Then he moved into Stonewall Gardens, and everything is now better for him in every way - medically, emotionally and socially. The care he receives is comprehensive, the staff is committed (Im ready to propose community relations manager Brian for sainthood!), and theres no safer place to be during the COVID-19 pandemic. The place is so clean and serene, I actually love visiting! I wish every gay-gay-friendly senior in need had the opportunity to consider a future at Stonewall Gardens.

Stonewall Gardens has provided care for my brother for the past year. The staff is professional and responsive. I have the luxury of feeling that my brother is safe and in good hands. They have protected their community from Covid by being vigilant and conscientious about resident safety. I recommend Stonewall Gardens to any person who seeks diligent care for their loved ones.

A dear friend of mine moved to Stonewall Gardens four years ago, and I have visited him continually, at least once a month, over that time. I am always reassured that he is in the best place he could possibly be at this stage of his life. Being in a gay-friendly environment makes all the difference to his emotional comfort, but beyond that, the staff and the other residents form a caring community that gives him every kind of support he needs.

My dog Dennis and I moved here 5 years ago from a different assisted living facility and have made Stonewall Gardens our home. I cannot begin to tell you what a difference it has made in my life. From kind, thoughtful staff to beautiful, comfortable surroundings with breathtaking mountain views, everything about this community is geared toward assisting residents to live their lives.

The staff at Stonewall Gardens are exceptional with customer service. From their executive director, Chad, their community relations director, Brian, and all front line staff, the service you receive is impeccable. The community is beautiful with awesome views for the residents. I would recommend this community to all looking for a place to call home, especially for our LGBTQ+ seniors.

Great staff, superb chef, well located. Cozy rooms, sidewalks a little challenging for the impaired walker, the landscaping is beautiful. Good value for the things you need most. Pet

A dear family friend moved into Stonewall Gardens in June 2018, and if Stonewall didn't literally save his life, it certainly made it worth living again. Everyone has the same first impression of Stonewall: "Wow, this place is nice!" Stonewall is well-designed, beautifully landscaped and perfectly maintained. But after many visits and through many interactions with Stonewall's professional staff, I've learned that the facility is fully as beautiful "on the inside." Stonewall's managers really do take sincere personal interest in the residents, and they really do work hard to make the Stonewall experience as beneficial as it can be for everyone. Before coming to Stonewall, my friend had failed to thrive anywhere, and his family was desperate. Since finding this safe haven in gorgeous, gay-friendly Palm Springs, my friend has regained not only his health but his personality and his hope for the future. Thank you, Stonewall!

I have several friends who have made the transition to assisted living and those that chose Stonewall Gardens have been by far happier. Being able to relate to other residents who shared a similar history is so much better that going "back in the closet" as is often happens. Stonewall Gardens doesn't just fly the rainbow flag and offer to respect our privacy - they embrace our diversity and participate in local events that are part of our shared LGBTQ community.
