So, I've been looking at Assisted Living (AL) and Memory Care (MC) facilities for over 3 years now. I've been doing this with a very good friend if mine for her father. At this point, despite a "dementia" diagnosis, he is way too high functioning for MC. So the challenge has been to find a AL facility that would understand our particular situation and work with us to find the right type of residence. Needless to say most have not been willing to "look deeper" and just offered us MC, but some were willing to understand that a diagnosis is a long journey that does not always start the same for everyone. Atria Hacienda is one such place and truly a gem among the offerings. If I know one thing after 3 years, it is that there exists a huge difference between CARE and CARING. Care is a service you can buy, usually outlined in a contract, overseen by the state and available at pretty much any AL/MC facility. Caring on the other hand isn't so readily available. It comes from the passion of the people who provide care. It has no contract but is written in the hearts and minds of those giving care. It comes with a smile, love, compassion, and most importantly sincerity and honesty. That is what we found at Atria Hacienda. You can look around all you want...for years. But I can guarantee that you will not find better caring than here at Atria Hacienda. Ask for Andrea...you will not be disappointed.

As someone who is new to navigating dementia care, the entire team has truly been a lifesaver throughout this whole process. Christian, the director of memory care, has been an incredible guide. Patient with the residents, knowledgeable of the disease and how to handle behaviors, and always lending a helping hand during this tough transition. It is clear that he and his team are genuinely caring and nurturing in the way their work with not only their seniors but the families as well. The staff have helped me learn new things about my mom the I hadn’t noticed before, which has been truly heartwarming. Monique, the executive director, also took the time to personally meet with us when we first moved in. She brought such warmth and reassurance to the transition. I was worried about moving my mother into memory care as no one I knew seemed to have any real answers on how to deal with the disease and now I can finally get some rest confidently knowing that my mom is getting the best care we could’ve asked for. Claudia and Marisa worked directly with us to get payments processed on time, every time each month. Because of their follow-through, we never had to worry about disruptions to Mom's care. She’s been able to stay at Hacienda with peace of mind, and that means everything to us. Stephanie the nurse has amazing care staff who physically take care of each residents. A wonderful community! Monique the executive director sets the tone for the entire building, as she is so engaging with the residents and handles her staff with respect and openness. That creates a ripple effect where you have employees who enjoy their job and are very caring with the residents. It’s a great mix of a relaxed atmosphere with the staff, yet they all have a sense of urgency to get things done timely with the residents to ensure their needs are met. . I’ve been fortunate to have many dear friends move into this community and it is the best in the valley by a long shot. Residents really love living here and are happy to call it their home. You have many outstanding staff members that go above and beyond to keep everything lighthearted . Dulce and Stephanie manage the Wellness with dignity, Don in activities has an insane variety of activities to keep residents challenged and engaged( never seen so many activities in ANY senior living community), Ramses is a master at crafting the menu, and the ladies at the front desk have a lot on their plate and cheerfully acknowledge anyone entering the building. Christian is the new Life Guidance director and has added some youthful energy and old soul calmness and wisdom to a challenging environment. He’s a great addition for sure. Hats off to the maintenance staff also, they are always looking after the building and so cordial with the residents. One thing you can say about this facility is that it has such a warm feeling. The residents really do look after one and another and are so accepting of any new residents that move into the community. So many other staff members on site that are very selfless when taking care of the residents, really appreciate all you guys do ™.

I am writing to offer my wholehearted support and praise for Jennifer Zuckerman, Director of the Memory Care Unit at Atria Hacienda Palm Desert, CA In light of some recent negative public reviews, I feel it is important to share a perspective that reflects the reality I have personally witnessed. Caring for residents with memory impairment is extraordinarily complex work, requiring not only professional skill but also patience, empathy, consistency, and steady leadership. In my experience, Jennifer Zuckerman exemplifies all of these qualities. Jennifer Zuckerman leads with compassion and accountability. She is visible, approachable, and deeply invested in both the residents and the staff who care for them. I have consistently observed her taking the time to listen to families, to caregivers, and to residents themselves even in challenging situations. Patient, family and staff concerns are acknowledged thoughtfully, not dismissed, and handled with respect and follow-through which seems to be her consistent style.

Atria Hacienda, Palm Desert, has greatly enhanced the quality of my life. I want to share life here. As an Atria Hacienda resident for over a year, I have enjoyed a nice apartment, excellent food, weekly outings, and skilled staff. This senior community sets a standard for others to follow. When the new Senior Executive Director took over, things changed. She focused first on hiring additional exceptional staff. She started a program where she meets with residents once a week, Monday mornings, to chat informally about any issues or problems, upcoming activities and improvements, and generally connecting with residents. On Thursdays, she joins residents for lunch in The Grille for relaxed chat. As a result, the connection between management and residents is strong. July 4th is a good example. The Engage Life Director brought patriotism to us with morning activities, a special holiday luncheon, a musical program in the afternoon, and an evening get-together with pizza, drinks, and games. By 8:00 PM, most of us were tired and in our apartments. The Executive Director was here with her husband and son, cleaning up napkins, paper plates, cups, and decorations. In other words, she is All In. I can almost feel the spirit here. We are happy. We all relate well and love our activities and conversations. I am tough. This is my third senior living community. Atria Hacienda, like a lighthouse, rises above the others. This is a happy place, a home. I am grateful, very thankful.

She has more friends to hang out with and more activities to do than she can handle. Her disposition is better than it has been in years. My mom is active and engaged at Atria and the Director of the Life Guidance (Mary) cares for the patients as if they were her own family. The staff have helped mom with a very difficult transition after her husband passed away last year. They have been responsive and addressed concerns or issues promptly. The food is wonderful and facilities very well maintained.

My family looked at several options for our mom and from the moment we entered Atria Hacienda, it felt like home. Our first meeting was with Brigitte who gave us a tour and answered all of our questions. While we toured, we noticed she knew every resident we encountered by name. It was obvious that she loved her job! Don, who is in charge of all activities is outstanding. The first thing our mom does daily is a quick trip to pick up the daily list of activities. Monique, the Executive Director is an excellent leader and is very easy to talk with. Our mom has lived there for close to two months now and she is so happy! She loves her apartment, the activities, the employees, and the connections she has made with residents. She told us recently that she is THRIVING. We could not be happier!

Atria Hacienda has been a great home for my Grandma. She has been at Atria for over 5 years and seen a lot of transition in those years. I feel so fortunate, that she has been able to progress through her care levels here. Two years ago, she fell, broke a hip. We thought we would loose her. She had pretty much given up. She got released from a skilled nursing facility. Got back to her apartment at Atria and has thrived, both physically and mentally. My visits twice a week are not the reason why. The entire staff (Caregivers, food service, cleaning staff, managing director of memory care and facility management) are amazing and they are making the difference. I can see her face recognize and light up, when we interact with the staff members throughout the entire facility. The real reason for this post is to say THANK YOU to the Atria Staff!! They have taken such good care of my Grandma during this Covid nightmare. I work with the general public everyday. It is difficult and painful to know your loved one is safer cared for away from you, than near you, because of your constant exposure. So THANK YOU to each of you!! Only reason not 5 stars, bring back orange sherbet everyday in the dining room and Grille.

My 100 year old father has been living in the memory care section of Atria hacienda for almost 1 year. Staff is extremely kind to him and with hospice nurse helping with his meds and showering I'm pleased with his care. My only other comment would be communication, as my phone or text messages are not always returned promptly.

My mother lived at The Atria Hacienda for about two years. first in assisted living and then in Lifestyles. She was well cared for and liked the beautiful ambiance. The food is pretty good too, giving a choice of a dining room or The Bistro. The have many activities and other entertainment such as singers, and musical groups who come in and perform, which she especially liked. another popular thing is "The Movie Theater" where every day there are two showings of movies accompanied by popcorn. The staff in Lifestyles is exceptional and the Lifestyles director, Doreen, is amazing. All in all, it is a nice bright, airy p;lace with good management and a caring staff. I would have made these all separate reviews but your inefficient program won't let me do it!! There are several flaws in it, this is only one of them. Your program is very frustrating to use. But I would like all those people to get credit as separate reviews, please! This afternoon I tried to use this program on another computer and couldn't even log in. I also tried to help 2 other residents and they couldn't get into the program either. I hope you don't have your expectations set too high, because this isn't going to work as it is set up now.
