I had a very good experience at Southland care center while I had my dad in their care . That staff was excellent and especially LVN Ayah Bakir and CNA Valerie Rosales , they would go the extra mile for my dad care and they were so respectful and kind toward the patients and family members. My Mom was a Patient at Southland Care Center. She couldn't have been placed at a better place. Staff and Nurses were very polite and Friendly. Rehabilitation Crew were Top Notch. Food was. Nothing less than excellent. Activities provided, bingo ,Church Service on Sundays, gave the kind of ambience of being at home. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone who is looking for an establishment that will gracefully them with their physical progression journey. During my moms stay in southland, my sisters and I met really good nurses and therapist that played a very important role in my mom's recovery. I want to praise nurses Marisol and Jackie, my mom's nurses were such a tremendous asset to her morning routine and recovery. Marisol consistently provided thorough care when my mom needed the most. When my mom was first admitted she had a really hard time with the afternoon and night shift, but immediately after meeting with Marisol we knew she would be in good hands. She is passionate about patient care and will forever be highly regarded by our family. I would give Southland a higher rating if it wasn't for the work needed for the other shifts. I really hope these wonderful nurses and their managger get to read all these beautiful reviews about them. Overall a very good place for rehab, thank you southland staff.(:

My 94 year old father had a 2 week stay at Southland Nursing home, all staff, nurses and physical therapists were very professional and attentive to my father’s needs. I chose this facility cause it was highly recommended and I was highly pleased with the level of care my father received. I would also highly recommend this facility.

When my husband had another bike accident we chose to go to Southland Care Center. He had been there before during COVID (another bike accident). During my husband's recent 100 days recovering, I learned so much about the caring people there from management, all the various nurses. therapists and maintenance - each knowledgeable, compassionate, caring people. It seemed that no matter where we were, they always recognize us by name and asked how we were doing. My husband 93 has dementia and this accident really accelerated it. Lucky no bones were broken but he needed a lot of good care. Through therapy they worked with him daily, physically and stimulating his brain with varies activities. I wanted to take the time to thank the staff in the second floor. My mom spent months in this facility and the care she received was exceptional. Starting with her medication nurse, Marisol always so kind and professional with her patients. My mom is so greatful for her. Irving the morning CNA was amazing to her, always very attentive and always brighting her days.

It truly takes a special kind of person to be a caregiver, and the compassion shown by everyone there meant a lot to our family. All of the nurses, staff, and administrators were kind, professional, and attentive. I would especially like to recognize Marisol (LVN), Jackie (CNA), Ayah (CNA), Lisa B. (CNA), Kelanie (LVN), and Social Worker Denise for their exceptional care and kindness. They went above and beyond and made a real difference during my husband’s stay. The physical therapy staff was also outstanding, and I want to thank Dr. Sharma as well for his care and attention. I truly appreciated that the team always took the time to explain my husband’s treatment plan and answer any questions I had. That level of communication and support means everything when you are caring for a loved one. I know I’m probably missing many wonderful people, but everyone we encountered was caring and helpful. I also want to mention how clean and well-maintained the facility is, which made us feel comfortable and confident in his care. After my father fell down & broke his hip, Southland Care Center & Assisted Living was our first choice for aftercare! My brother toured a few places before deciding this was our best option. The staff was excellent and the care and attention my father received while there was amazing! My wife, while she was a patient at Southland, found the staff to be very pleasant and professional. This applies to the WHOLE staff - from the RNs, LVNs, custodial workers, cafeteria workers, and everybody in total. The therapists were also very helpful and caring. Compared to a few other facilities she has been to in the past this was by far the best experience. My wife also thought the meals were very well prepared and tasty.

I was a patient here from Nov. 1, 2023 to mid-Dec. 2023. I'd had a cardiac arrest. I have arthritis and lost about 70% mobility in all. I was also diagnosed with C-Diff which as you know is absolutely awful. My nurses were awesome through-out it all. I had PT and OT as well. They were patient and kind, even tho I didn't feel good and would get grumpy. I gave 4 stars rather than 5 because of a couple of things that didn't have to happen. 1. I shared the room with a nice lady who was diabetic. I'm not diabetic - in fact I run low. Four times in my first four days there I had a nurse walk up to me in my bed with insulin in hand, ready to inject. Four times! I'd stop them of course and correct them. They'd look SO confused, poor things. My roomie and I thought that because our last names were oddly similar but not the same, they glanced but didn't really READ them. (mine is "Stott" and hers is "Soto".™) 2. I needed help shifting in bed. I'd call for help. Help would come ... maybe. After awhile I'd call again. And again. It was my normal. Or I'd get a promise from a nurse that they would set a timer and come in to turn me - and it might happen, might not. Anyways, I developed a bedsore. It hurt but wasn't noticed until I got home. I went up to ER that day. Got admitted. Had surgery on the wound to clean it out. Had 5-6 months home health care/wound care. Have a deep, knarly scar but it healed well. I loved my wound care nurses. At least that's a plus.

Weekday staff are usually wonderful. But as soon as management leaves the building patient care is questionable. If you try to call they hang up on you and tell you they are having phone issues. The administrator only responds to complaints about 25% of the time.

I just wanted to share my opinion about the patient care at this rehabilitation center. It's not perfect, but the majority of the care is very good. My husband was in a room on the second floor, and I have nothing but good things to say about the nurses who cared for him. Marisol is a very good nurse; I want to thank her for all the care she provided. She makes a great team with Jackie, and they are both always attentive to their patients. Maria is also a very good nurse, and her treatments were very helpful for my husband. Best of all, they spoke Spanish, since most of the nurses don't speak our language. It was a good experience; the therapists are very good and helped us a lot. The only thing we didn't like much was the food they give the patients; sometimes it's not good.

It is a disgrace that in order to post my review, I have to give higher than 2 stars, otherwise My review gets blocked. If it was for me this facility would not even get 1 satr. My dad was admitted to this facility for rehab, I was persuaded by the good reviews and nice pictures they show. But reality is this place is disgusting. Nurses here will do the minimum amount of work to care for your loved one. Came to find out the majority of the reviews here are from their own staff members. This place should be honest and not have their own staff write fake reviews. That is called false advertisement.

People r nice in the daytime and night it's different..Not so much on the patients...My Mom was left urine couple times with two diapers on her, which I felt was discussing. There was a nurse called Adora or a worker that took very good care of my Mom is the day...She worked on the 2nd floor which my my was in Room 221...She kept my Mom very comfortable and very cleaned..I wish all the workers could be like this....The phiscial therapy group was fantastic..Very caring and took there time with every patient I saw including my Mom...It's a nice place it just needs alot of improvement with their workers to be alittle more caring...

I have been admitted to this facility a few times and the last two times I have been here have been pleasant. I was in the second floor for a few weeks, and had a wonderful team. I want to thank the rehab department they do such a good job, they helped me a lot, wished I could of stayed longer. More than anything I want to thank Marisol, my beautiful and most attentive nurse. She's been my nurse the past two times I have been in Southland. I have nothing but good things to say about her, she goes above and beyond to care for her patients. Wish more nurses were just like her. The kitchen is not the best, may times the food was really bad. The only thing was that they had alternatives. Overall, I only recommend this place because of her my nurse.

My mother was recently admitted here from Kaiser, and I couldn't be more grateful for the care she received. Like many families, we were worried at first”having heard troubling stories about geriatric facilities, we weren’t sure what to expect. But this place exceeded all our hopes. The staff was truly AMAZING”compassionate, respectful, and consistently treated her with dignity. While she had to share a room, we were fortunate that her roommate was kind and considerate, which made a big difference. The environment felt safe and welcoming, and this facility provided exactly the kind of support my mother needed during her recovery.

I am impressed by Gabriela Rodriguez,CNA. Her quality of care, professionalism, and work ethic are outstanding. Gabby was my father’s CNA on his first day at the facility. She is attentive, compassionate, and caring. She genuinely cares about the well being of her patients. Her care helped my dad rest well and relax. Recently my siblings and I have had our mother In Southland rehab for a fractured hip this was her second time there and each time we've have had a great experience with the nurses, physical therapists and the aids My brother and we stayed with our mom night and day. She has altztimers dementia and would get very disoriented so we saw who was caring for her which made it easier to not have to be there at throughout the night. We got there for breakfast . When my wife got out of the hospital she went to Southland. Received excellent care. The Nurses are caring and take time to help each patient. Special kudos to nurse Bertha, and nurse Nadine and also to Occupational Therapist Jennifer for their extra attention and caring.

I visited Southland for the second time today regarding the admission of a patient for Assisted Living. All went well and I was very pleased with Zach and the other people I spoke with. I had hopes that this would work out and that my old friend would find a place at Southland. However my friend just called and said that he had been rejected because he is level 4 care. Their website says: "At Southland Care Center, our talented and focused staff will work with you, your family, and your healthcare provider, to create a comprehensive and effective care and treatment plan. Our welcoming smiles will tell you that Southland of Norwalk is a place to regain your strength and mobility and a place you can call home." and "We are proud to offer a wide variety of residential and supportive services, all created to promote the well-being of our residents “ physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and socially." Perhaps this is not true and they simply have not updated their web page. Or perhaps there is some other reason that my friend has been rejected. Keep in mind that he does need physical help, but he is not a social or psychological problem. After years of working in hospitals myself, here in Downey and Long Beach as a member of hospital staff I know that there are some patients who are very difficult. My friend is not.

Thank you Southland Living for taking care of me and the therapist to they really help me. The therapist came twice a day to help me and get me starting walking again after surgery. The nurse were all nice if I wanted a sandwich they would bring to me. The food there is great three meals a day. Your friend Lina.
