I just moved in, and they have a pipe in the hallway that's been leaking all weekend. They said it won't be fixed until Wednesday, that's a lot of water being wasted. We didn't have any hot water for a couple of days because they had to replace the hot water heater, and I hope nothing else goes wrong.

Over the years I've lived at Southern Highlands the rent has only gone up while services have been decreased. There is no security anymore like there used to be, no activities, and the general look of the place has gone downhill. The carpets are almost always dirty, the patio is grungy, and the patio furniture is rusty with no cushions for the chairs, just steel bars to sit on. The landscaping is awful to nonexistent. The laundry room almost always has broken machines, and the lighting is very bad. If the management can take advantage of you, they will.

Some laundry room washers need to be replaced. No pet pooping on the premises needs to be enforced in the outside patio areas. The outside furniture needs to be replaced. Security for the U.S.Mail as well as all delivery services are poor as i have had numerous packages stolen or undelivered.

Management was very responsive . Kindly take care of the fire alarm & have it fix or do something to avoid it ringing when it should not be.

The price is unbeatable, that much is true. However, management is terrible. Their is a very real roach problem and some of your neighbors are people you would cross the street to get away from. Oh and all units have a very loud fire alarm that is usually pulled by a neighbor several times a week. In the last 7 days the alarm has been pulled daily.

Laundry room washers and dryers are always broken or don't work properly. Elevator is always dirty, trash shoot area often disgusting and dirty. Hallway carpets old and musty.

Really nice place to live for your fisrt apartment very clean and friendly oriented! eating places and gyms all locally or in walking distance. You'll love it here!!!

They will shut the water off for hours without notice. Sometimes you get a 24hr notice... other times you just get a lady knocking on your door saying hey the waters off and gonna be off for hrs. Would be nice to know so I could run enough drinking water.

It's hard to find a place like this nowadays. You can't beat the price. All utilities are included so the rent amount is all you pay. Perfect for couples, students, young adults, newly weds or anyone trying to save a bit of money because you will save some wether you want to or not if you live here. It's a studio loft with a bathroom, a stove and fridge and a balcony or patio. Pets allowed upon approval & with a pet deposit, not sure about the pet monthly fee. There's 2 elevators, many stairways on different sides of building. Their indoor. There's a smoking area and a gated pet area in the back. A laundry room in the underground floor and a remote only accessed underground parking. Entire building is locked and it's a keyed entry. They have a few setup designs to choose from. The manager Michelle is awesome. Very helpful and nice.

My mother was living at southern highlands for approximately 8 years until she passed away recently in March 2020. My mother suffered from many medical ailments. Prior to her stay at southern highlands, my mother lived alone in a two bedroom apartment. She was isolated and was hospitalized several times through out the year. That changed when she moved to southern highlands. Over the years, the property manager Michelle Washington and support staff played an integral role in my mother's stability. The vast upgrades to the complex which included connecting residents to an array of community resources helped my mother stay engaged with the community . She began connecting with other agencies, people and getting the support she needed to complete daily tasks with as much independence as possible. I want to thoroughly thank Michelle Washington, southern highlands and associated staff for their support. My mother is resting in peace and I'm eternally grateful to you all! My husband & I lived here for over a year when we first moved to San Diego. We were broke and needed a place to live at that was good priced. This place accepted a certain amount of 21+ years who have no children. We appreciate Michelle's welcoming us to the building. This place was good to live at during that time period of our life. This place has a lot of choices for fast food, gas stations, grocery stores, etc.
