We want to thank all the staff for the excellent care you gave our Mom, Betty, the last 3 years. We so appreciate your care and kindness and the love you show for the residents of Lakeside Manor. Johanna and the staff are all angels and deserve big jewels in their heavenly crowns. It takes a very special person to do what those ladies do. They are an awesome crew. The staff took such good tender care of Mom, without complaint. We know that she was as happy as she could be in that last phase of her life. She maintained her quick wit and sweetness until the day she went to be with Jesus. I think that was partly due to the care she got at Lakeside Manor, knowing and feeling that she was loved and cared for. Thank you, Lakeside Manor. I would recommend this wonderful home to anyone looking for care for their elderly family members. Thank you again. We will miss you all. You became such a part of our lives. You will always feel like family to us.

These are the people you want caring for your loved one. My grandma, who had dementia, lived here for the last few months of her life after spending years at "luxury senior living" Lantern Crest, and my family and I are so very glad that she spent her last months in the care of the folks at Lakeside Manor. I spent a lot of hours at both places, several visits a week most weeks, and the other location had many loving and capable caretakers too, but definitely not everyone. I watched how at the high-end place they were spread much too thin and they simply did not have the time to give the care the facility was being paid for them to give. Too few people expected to do too much, good people getting burned out, and the residents suffered. This facility, this home, frankly doesn't have the finer architectural details, and the parking lot is a bit tight at first, but so what. The actual care and atmosphere at Lakeside Manor is exactly what you want - especially if you aren't able to come by frequently to check up on things like I was. It is a smaller place and they run it like a big family. They eat together and watch tv together in their living room, the staff interacts with everyone socially. They paid attention to her pain, her moods, her health, everything, and I never came in to see her sitting alone staring at an empty room like I frequently did at the other place. The two residents I saw who liked to be alone in their room had the freedom to come and go to the common areas as they wanted. When you arrange to pick them up at a certain time for outings (church, dr appt, etc) the staff consistently ensures they are ready to go, which was a problem at the other place both in the memory care and assited living. The good staff at the other place was always on the move trying to care for everyone, but rarely had moments to take time with residents and the care level was far from advertised - I can only imagine how worse it would have been if my family and I hadn't been around to notice so many things that Grandma was no longer able to voice. If two employees were needed to help someone, which is very common, the residents were sometimes left in uncomfortable or undignified conditions until a second person became available. Here at Lakeside Manor, everyone is well cared for plus the staff has time they can sit (or stand) sometimes to spend the time to interact which is so important for the mental well-being, both in terms of dementia and depression. Grandma was happier and healthier here and we remain so very, very grateful for that.

My Dad lived at Lakeside Manor for 16 months beginning shortly after displaying advanced symptoms of dementia, until his death at the age of 91 from long term cardiovascular disease. I was a desperate and skeptical person when I had no choice but to find a place for him to live. He had become a danger to himself and others in many different ways. My dad was very determined to continue living the independent lifestyle he had for so many years. Unfortunately his inability to keep time, recognize his surroundings and manage his prescription medicines left me no other choice but to find a care facility. The first few weeks were very stressful as I worried a lot about him for all the obvious reasons someone would think about when a loved one is placed into this type of care. Over time though Johanna and her staff showed me I had less to worry about than I thought possible. I eventually stopped calling the facility and the employees cell phones to check on him even though I was assured it wasn't a bother to do so. The staff and management knows what they are doing and it shows in ways that are big and small. During the entire time spent there including his final months and hours, while on hospice care, the staff was always more than attentive to my Dad and his needs. Our large and extended family visiting from out of town never ran out of compliments for me in regards to my choice of care facility. His friends that live locally and visited him praised the facility and the job they did as well. Most of all my Dad came to enjoy being there as the Manor felt like home to him. I can't imagine how I could have possibly dealt with him at home as the dementia progressed into the advanced stages. Things can get very dangerous in a short amount of time for someone in this condition when left unsupervised. The staff here was able to reason with my Dad in his moments of confusion that could be described at times as hallucinations. They seemed to do this patiently without arguing, which I lacked the ability to do as his repeating things frustrated me. Lakeside Manor turned out to be very competitively priced and a great value for the money as the care for him was plentiful.

We are so grateful for the care and compassion with which you've cared for my mom - Therese T.. I wish we could say we were prepared for this journey and chose your facility from the beginning, but we weren't. When my 7 siblings and I were at our wits end, a beloved relative guided us to Lakeside Manor. Mom's physical and mental health were challenging at best, but together with a new medical team and your remarkably compassionate, professional associates she has actually improved both mentally and physically at your exceptional facility. With her physical pain under control, your home-like atmosphere and family-style care have revived some of mom's naturally gregarious, happy personality. It's so nice to receive reports from local family members of mom laughing and joking again. Her happiness and laughter isn't always rooted in current reality, but the foundation and heart of the mom we've known for decades is clear to those of us who knew her best. Further, since we live in Texas and cannot visit personally, your exceptional staff is our direct link to mom and her daily condition. Without exception, every phone call and question is met with patience and professionalism by your staff, and punctuated with honest compassion for mom. Every person at your facility showed a clear understanding and empathy for my frustration of being her "baby boy" living so far away. What I was fearing was going to be just a long, slow, sad good-bye, has evolved into an opportunity for family and friends to garner a few more meaningful memories of mom before she makes her final journey. I am --- we are --- truly grateful for all you've done for mom, and all of us eight kids in making her sunset time with you as bright and comfortable as possible. Blessings to you, and each and every one of your caring associates. Sincerely, Jim T.
