I am so grateful to the staff of Cascade Living of Grass Valley. From start to finish, that residence felt like the perfect fit for my sister. I envisioned her moving there, and she and I going on little outings together. God had other plans. Their fearless leader, Haley Michelle Parker is incredible in both skill and diplomacy (we have a very difficult family member). I feel so close to each person on the staff, and I am forever grateful to each and every one of them for the excellent care they provided for my sister. If you have a loved one who needs independent, assisted, or memory care living, I cannot recommend Cascades highly enough. It was never a "facility," but rather, FAMILY. It's clean, well organized, well staffed, and feels like a boutique hotel. The food is great, and the activities are superb. Thank you so much to everyone who supported my sister in memory care. My life is richer for having met you.

I can’t say enough great things about Cascades! Every time I visit, I’m immediately struck by how clean and welcoming the entire facility is”it truly feels like a place where people are cared for with intention. One of my favorite things to see is the residents gathered in the lobby, laughing and enjoying each other’s company. It speaks volumes about the sense of community they’ve built there. Their dining hall is absolutely beautiful as well”warm, inviting, and a space where residents can really enjoy their meals together. You can tell a lot of thought has gone into creating an environment that feels both comfortable and elevated. Haley, the Executive Director, is incredible. She is always on top of every resident’s care and goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is supported. On top of that, she’s genuinely kind and approachable, which makes a huge difference for both residents and partners. Angela is equally amazing. She handles all new residents with such care and compassion, making sure they never feel like just a sale, but truly part of the community from day one. She even brings her service dog to work, which adds an extra layer of comfort and support for residents”it’s such a thoughtful touch. Angela also does an outstanding job networking in the community and building meaningful relationships, all while being incredibly sweet and personable. Cascades also does a fantastic job collaborating with community partners like Comfort Keepers to ensure residents can receive 1:1 support when needed. That level of teamwork really enhances the quality of care. I’m so thankful for our relationship with Cascades and the trust we’ve built together. It’s clear they are deeply committed to their residents and their families. Highly recommend!

My father had Parkinson’s and my mother Alzheimer’s. They had been married for 54 years and led a full and beautiful life together. We found Cascades of Grass Valley after a challenging few years for all of us “ with their declining health and loss of decision-making capacity and our seemingly endless struggle to find the right place to call their home. We moved them multiple times in both Washington State and California “ seeking the place where they could be happy, feel like themselves and be in good hands, but failing each time. We finally settled at Cascades of Grass Valley. From day one, we knew that we had finally found the right place. It brings me to tears now to think of how immediately I felt taken care of by Haley and her team. Of course, it took weeks (maybe months) for my parents to trust that their new home was a safe place and the right place for them. As all the care staff at Cascades will remember, they struggled deeply with accepting help. My mom still thought it was her job to take care of my dad “ and that she could take care of him. And my dad didn’t want to accept help from anyone else. Over time and with unbelievable patience from the care staff, not only did they both begin to accept the care for my dad. My mom began to accept and even desire care for herself. They actually trusted their care providers and formed beautiful relationships with them. I visited them almost daily and was always blown away to see the care and connection they experienced. I came to love the care and activities staff and looked forward to seeing all of them as much as my parents. In the week when they were both nearing the end of their lives, I slept the nights in their room. During those nights, I found that they also had great experiences and connection with care staff that I had not even met. In the past few years, given the stress of their many moves and the decline of their health, I rarely saw my parents at peace. But in the last months of their lives, my parents found peace. I feel like that peace was brought by the incredible love and care that they were receiving at Cascades. They both passed peacefully surrounded by people with big, beautiful hearts. And we, as their children, were held with so much love in those days. I am forever grateful.

Cascades of Grass Valley was truly a blessing for our family. From day one, the staff was incredibly flexible and willing to work with us through every twist and turn of my mom’s care needs. They went above and beyond to keep her engaged, active, and busy with daily activities, always encouraging her independence and giving her as much freedom as possible while still keeping her safe. What really stood out was how the staff became an extension of our family. Their kindness, patience, and consistency gave us real peace of mind. Even after my mom’s stay, we still stop by just to say hello ” that’s how meaningful the relationships became. We were well informed of the offerings and our loved-one's care needs well in advance throughout. Relatives were met with friendly care givers always as well. One differentiating item at Cascades is that the Memory Care residents are invited to various events and gatherings in the Assisted Living area. For us this enhanced our loved-one's experience meaningfully.

When I started my search for an appropriate assisted living facility for my mom and her husband, I toured many facilities in the area. We even had a deposit down on one place, but I had not yet toured Cascades of Grass Valley. Not wanting to leave any stones unturned, I booked my tour. Nestled into a forest and coupled with beautifully cared for grounds, Cascades of Grass Valley provides views from each of its rooms. And the facility is very well maintained and provides many activities and events for its residents. When I arrived for my scheduled tour, I knew at once that this was the perfect place for them. My mom needed a place where she could remain as her Parkinson’s progressed. I didn’t want to have to move her to another facility when her ailments became more advanced, which some places insist upon. And mom’s husband didn’t need assisted living care, but he was still able to join the residents. The care team cared for my mom (since passed) and her husband cared for himself while they shared a two-bedroom apartment that had a beautiful view of the forest. Now on to the care team... I was absolutely amazed at the care team! The care team, many of whom became friends to mom and her husband, truly cared about my mom’s needs “ which became extensive towards the end. They were on this journey with her... From Mom being able to walk a bit on her own when first moving in, to then needing a walker, to needing a wheelchair “ the care team was there helping her transfer and transition through all stages of her progressing disease. They helped with showers, toileting, kept their apartment clean “ beds striped and made, laundry done, etc. And they did it all while providing them the dignity that’s not often provided by care teams. They laughed together and cried together; they became extended family. The executive team keeps Cascades ticking and working like clockwork. Should your loved one need anything, talk with the executive team as they work magic. The meals are well balanced, taste great and they have a full-time chef on staff! The other residents are welcoming and friendly, and Cascades is just the right size which ensures that most of the residents know each other. That said, I highly recommend Cascades of Grass Valley for your loved ones and feel it is a safe, nurturing and loving community. Karen M.

They have helped us during this stage of our father's journey and strongly feel we made the best decision for him. The staff actually cares and we can feel that. I wanted to write a review for Angela because she was so helpful and honest when we were thinking about moving my Mother in law from another local assisted living facility. I liked the smaller environment and more personal experience at Cascades compared to the larger place where mom was currently living. Mom had dementia and Parkinsons and was requiring more and more care. Things were changing rapidly and Mom had a lot of anxiety. Angela was so kind and told me that a move could actually cause more confusion and anxiety for our Mom, and it might be best to stay where we were at. Mom was declining rapidly and she passed a few months later. I wish we would have come to cascades first. I appreciate the honesty and the best interest of my mother in law versus profit for the facility. Bravo to Angela for her kindness, honesty, and integrity. Cascades is lucky to have you.. I always recommend anyone to give Cascades a call for a tour and ask for Angela.

My mother lived out her last six months of life at Cascade's of GV as she suffered with Lewy Body dementia. She had her own sunny, garden-view room. She was not always the easiest resident, but the staff was patient and loving all the way through. We called her Gran, and that was what everyone else called her. When she died so many staff members came in crying that my sisters and I joked that we were comforting them. The staff was loving and caring, but also at times firm enough that we felt she was safe. The facility is pleasant and clean. It was a hard way to say good-bye, but Cascades eased our long goodbye with their loving care.

My Grandmother moved into Cascades about a year and a half ago. She is 93 years old and while physically still extremely healthy her memory necessitated her moving from living alone in her home nearby to the Cascades. We unfortunately have no other family in California to help with her care. The building is quite attractive from the outside, upon entering the lobby the quality of the facility continues. Frequently several residents congregating there and there is always a welcoming staff member at the front desk. Every meal I've had there has been good restaurant quality. Her apartment is fairly spacious and private with living/eating areas, kitchenette, good size bathroom and ample closet space. I have developed excellent relationships with the director and some of the nursing staff. My grandmother has a bit of a challenge for the facility but I cannot compliment them enough for bending over backward to ease her transition into the facility and deal with some of her emotional stresses of learning to live with the move. The access to and open communication between me and the staff at Cascades has been so helpful for me, my grandmother and the facility as a whole to ensure her comfort and happiness. Thankyou to the staff members there that have been so helpful, You know who you are and please forward my gratitude to everyone! The process of supporting a loved one through the aging process in general, and cognitive decline in particular, is incredibly challenging both emotionally and pragmatically. Finding an assisted living facility whose staff cares about your loved one and provides support, guidance and respect is both rare and critical. Our experience of Cascades of Grass Valley has been amazing! The staff and facility are top notch, and our mother has received amazing care. Cascades of Grass Valley is the second facility that our mother has lived in. As opposed to the first, Cascades offers her increased freedom and meets her where she is. At some point she will need memory care, but until that time, we value her ability to experience as much independence as possible. At Cascades, my mother appears more settled and engaged than she has in years. In fact, recently she said that these are the best days of her life. She can access group activities, while also creating a new structure for her days that allow for alone time and ample social interaction. We are deeply grateful for Cascades of Grass Valley. Thank you from the bottom of our heart.

I moved my Father and Mother into an Assisted Living at Cascades of Grass Valley over a year ago after an unsuccesul attempt at another large Assistd Living facility in the area. They enjoyed their generously sized and comfortable apartment until their care needs increased to the point where it was suggested they be moved into The Lodge, the memory care unit where there needs could be better met. It was a great decision and the level of care has been exactly what they need. My Father passed about six months after the move, and my Mom decided to stay in the apartment which was decorated to look similar to her family home. The leadership at Cascades has been super helpful and have helped navigate a number of care decisions that I was ill equipped to make on my own. The care staff has been super attentive, compassionate and helpful to both my Mom and my family. The food is fantastic and we take every opportunity to share meals with Mom, kudoes to the chef and his staff! The facilities are clean, the decor beautiful and the ocassional maintenance issue is addressed quickly. They have helped me move my folks in, helped me move them within the facility and even helped remove unwanted items. Cascades is not a large facility but they provide first-class amenities, care and service. The staff at every level treats us like family and exhibits the kind compassionate concern you would hope for for your loved ones.

My 89 year old mother moved into Cascades of Grass Valley over a year ago after living alone for 6 years after my dad's death, they were married 65 years. In those 6 years she was home alone and unable to drive so life was very lonely. She's a very social person so once she moved into Cascades she is constantly surrounded by friends. They stay busy with activities, field trips, musical performers, games and exercise classes. They even have church every Sunday which is important to my mom. We looked at several assisted living facilities in the area and chose Cascades of Grass Valley for several reasons. It's a smaller facility, less residents which we feel she gets more attention from the staff. The people that take care of her also serve the meals so they stay aware of how she's eating, bathing and she knows them very well. It's a great location, close to doctors, stores and family so it's easy to stop by often to visit. Their staff is always pleasant and show genuine care for my mom and her happiness. She has a private room with a small kitchenette and private bathroom with a no step entrance and plenty of grab bars. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and safe. We've been very happy with Cascades and can recommend it for your love one.

I cannot be grateful enough for the wonderful experience I had when I chose to take my dear partner to Cascades of Grass Valley about a month ago. He had been battling for his life over the last year and, just as it appeared that the surgery, chemo and radiation had resulted in remission, we learned that the cancer had spread to his brain, causing him to suddenly lose the use of the left side of his body. We went from the ER, and hospital to a rehab place that was unspeakably wrong for him. At that point, I was scrambling to find a place where he could either do rehab or face whatever was coming next. From the moment I spoke to Angela on the phone, it was clear that Cascades was a match for us. And that intuition was confirmed by the actions of Haley (Cascade’s Executive Director) and her amazing staff as they, in turn, scrambled to accommodate my partner’s arrival late on a rainy Friday night, so as to get him out of a bad situation and into one that met his needs. This dear man, who was suffering on so many levels--but cognitively alert-- was treated with enormous respect and above all, genuine heartfelt kindness. This is something you cannot pay for. It is the culture of this facility. And these warm friendly interactions with everyone on staff only expanded as they got to know their new resident. It honestly felt like we had hired family members to care for him, night and day. Cascades worked harmoniously with Hospice too. Over the remainder of his time on this earth, my partner received love, compassion and respect on a level that one would only dream of having, over the last days of one’s life. He was so grateful. And I will remember this period that was so difficult as being balanced by grace, compassion and kindness beyond measure. That is what we received from everyone at Cascades of Grass Valley. I will be forever grateful. Thank you to each of you. You are amazing as individuals and as an organization.

My Mom had Alzheimer's and lived in the independent care section of Cascades for about 4 years. Cascades was always clean and the staff was so supportive and kind. At the time my Mom lived there the director's name was Pepsi and she was amazing. Even when Pepsi and Haley knew my Mom was ready for the Memory Care Unit, they allowed her two extra months in independent care until "I" was ready for that transition. It meant more work for them but they were willing to do that for me. I would recommend Cascades to whom ever has a loved one in need of assisted living.

My Dad has lived at Cascades of Grass Valley for four years, first in Independent Living and now Memory Care. His needs have changed quite a bit over time. Last year I was happy to learn that Wellness Director, Pepsi Pittman had taken over as executive director. This was an excellent choice and natural fit. I believe her medical knowledge of age-associated cognitive decline helps to ensure the highest standard of senior care. Her staff are loving, patient and attentive. Cascades has a homey and welcoming atmosphere and I always look forward to visiting. Most importantly is peace of mind in knowing my Dad is well looked after the times I can’t be with him.

My mom had early on set dementia. We knew she needed more care than we could give her at home but weren't ready to see her live in Memory Care. Cascades allowed her to live in her own assisted living apartment but gave the extra reminders and assistance needed to someone suffering from memory loss. When she could no longer live in her own apartment, they found a home for her in the Memory Care Lodge. The staff was patient, compassionate, and became family, not only to her but also to us. During her last days we were able to stay with her. Staff members came by, even on their days off to say their goodbyes. I can't imagine a better place, or better people, to have been there for us through our journey.
