Our family moved our 92 year old mother into Summerfield this week. From our first visit to the facility, we were so impressed with the appearance, the tasteful decor, the size of the room, and especially the cleanliness, which are all outstanding. Jamie has been with us every step of the way, and continues to be supportive and communicative these first few days as we all adjust. On the actual move in day, we were all surrounded by support and welcoming hearts. Although we are just now starting to meet and work with staff, the kindness of Sheree, Vance, Krystle, and Alondra all come to mind. We look forward to getting our mother to avail herself of the variety of engaging activities offered on a daily basis, as well as the special events. For example, there is an upcoming Chinese New Year celebration scheduled, and that sounds fun! We recognize that the transition will take time for all of us, but we trust the capable and kind hands of the staff at Summerfield.

We just moved my sister into Summerfield of Fresno. I was in tears when she exclaimed, "we love it here!" The staff are caring and patient. Each resident we met was clearly so content and comfortable being there. There are safe outdoor grounds to stroll in and group activities involving art and music. We are so pleased to have found this facility and look forward to a long relationship!

Summerfield is one of my top favorite Memory Care community’s. I’m there quite often and see nothing but love and kindness towards each resident, it’s so heartwarming. The staff are so engaging and involved with each resident, laughing, dancing and just enjoying life with the residents. Summerfield takes great care to provide every advantage for the residents, no matter the level of dementia. The staff that works with my husband treats him with gentle, loving care. I never worry that his needs are not being meet. The food is cooked on site and is balanced and nutritious. His food is even especially prepared for him to easily eat. My family and I had met with Jamie first. We were very impressed with the facility. I loved when the Med Techs referred to their residences as mama and pops and not just patients. To my husband and I it felt as though the residents counted and that they met something to the staff. As time went on our father had a hard time adjusting. He would always tell my husband and I to take him home and we kept telling him he was home. My husband and I can't say enough about Krystal, the event coordinator. She could see our father was struggling at times, but she would always come to the rescue. Krystal would go to his room and get him. He absolutely loved bingo. They called him the bingo champ. We have other favorite staff there. Our father had to go on. We have some difficult days when we pass by his room.We go often to see them. Michelle said we are family and to come anytime. ©’’’™©’

Jamie was the first person we met and instantly felt comfortable with her and her knowledge of memory care along with Krystle activities director and everyone one of the staff. They are all great! Its a difficult transition (more for family) but the genuine kindness, sweet catering, getting to the solution and arriving at the desired result is phenomenal! It is a very emotional process to place a loved one in a facility of any kind, much less a memory care facility. I was very fortunate to have been guided to Summerfield by a friend who was familiar with the facility. We were introduced to their beautifully kept campus and living quarters by a very caring administrative staff who provided all the information in making that decision and transition. It is extremely painful process, but they were exceptionally kind in orienting me and caring for me as well as my loved one. They were mindful of the difficulty and worked with me every step of the way. The personal care and love shown to us in the process is priceless. Thank you!

We have had a loved one at Summerfield for the past year. We have been very happy with their facility and their level of care. Summerfield has been amazing to my grandmother. One thing that i love in particular is the activities program. They offer a variety of activities on a daily basis for the residents to engage in. Krystle has been great regarding communication for family events as well. She goes above and beyond and also provides communication and photos of my grandmother enjoying the activities.

I am so grateful my father lives at Summerfield. The staff is so warm and loving. I truly feel they care and treat him like family. I even feel like they are an extended family to all the residents and their families. He was in a very expensive fancy place before this. However, I felt he and the other residents were ignored and not cared for. I left upset every time I visited. At Summerfield I see residents talked to, hugs, choices, creative engaging activities, dignity and you'll hear laughter. If I want something done, employees are easy to find and they will do what I ask. The employees smile and interact so well. It feels like a home away from home. Memory loss is a tough road, but Summerfield helps my dad still find his sense of belonging and pleasure. It is night and day difference from his expensive place. Summerfield even does bi-monthly free lunches with the families and the residents. This way every gets to know each other. Definitely check out Summerfield if you need a memory care facility that feel like a home.

I would highly recommend Summerfield to anyone who is looking for a great place that provides memory care for their loved one. I know many of our hope is to keep our loved on home with family as long as possible. What I love the most is I feel like my father has an extended family here. Summerfield will become another family for your loved one that will provide the love and care during those times when we are not able to be there. Summerfield prides themselves by treating residents as family. It is a night and day difference from where he came from. Prior to coming to Summerfield, my father was at Oakmont but we were deeply unhappy with his care there. My father improved so much after his arrival to Summerfield. He smiled more, engaged more and became a lot more active. The employees at Summerfield truly care about the residents. Residents are constantly greeted, talked to, hugged, and there always seems to be laughter around. Summerfield has a great employee to resident ratio and I always see employees helping residents, smiling, and talking to them with dignity, care, and humor. Summerfield has a fantastic activities director who is great at engaging the residents. Another employee discovered my Father enjoys playing checkers and often challenges him to a game. Yet another employee bonded with him over their shared love of football and makes sure the Fresno State games are on for him. At his previous place, so many residents were agitated or checked-out and un-engaged but here I see happy residents that still can find joy. I think it is the set-up of the community feel, the choices, and most important the dignity and love that is given daily to the residents by the employees. Memory care and loss is hard on everyone, but Summerfield is the next best thing to being home and provides great memory engagement and activities. Meals are homemade and served family style and the residents can choose what they would prefer to eat. They even have family lunches twice a month where families can stay to eat with their loved one and get to know the other families. Every time I visit my father I am so grateful we found Summerfield!

As the conservator for my uncle, I was compelled to seek a memory care facility for him because managing a live-in caregiver was driving me crazy. At Summerfield, my uncle appears to be benefitting from a better diet, a more stimulating environment, and more compassionate staff members. My wife is now a resident of summerfield. I cannot say enough positive things about the staff and facility. She is treated like family and is thriving with the stimulation, good food, positive interaction, and beautiful surroundings. This has been a very tough transition for both my wife and i, but Summerfield has helped to Comfort the most difficult moments. Not only do they treat my wife as if she's family, but they treat me like I'm family too. This is definitely a place of comfort for a difficult time of life for anyone.

I visited 9 facilities in the Fresno / Clovis area. Some I visited more than once. When I came to Summerfield it was immediately my front runner. Outdoor space and a homey feel. Jamie was awesome showing us the place and getting us started. Michelle is always on point with assisting with any questions or concerns I may have. The activities director Krystal is awesome!!! You can tell when someone loves what their job. She always has my mom smiling, always has her busy. Been 8 months now and I’m happy with our decision but most of all my mom is happy. Sommerfield’s activity director Krystal has gotten my grandmother so engaged in activities that no one had been able to do. Since Krystal has been at Sommerfield I get pictures of her smiling and helping out. I drop in unexpected to find her laughing and walking and helping with different activities such as picking fruit from the trees outside or making paintings. This facility has been such a blessing to our family with the care and love they share for their residents.

My 94, almost to be 95 year old mother has been at Summerfield of Fresno for about 8 months. After searching a long time for a facility for her, I came across Summerfield of Fresno, and knew that was the one. Jamie was the best when giving me the tour of the facility. It has such a homey feeling, and the grounds are beyond gorgeous. Every room practically has a great outdoor view. The front office staff is wonderful, and welcoming always. The facility is spotless and very well decorated, and they did accomplish a very homey feeling. The aids are so very caring and there are some very outstanding ones. I love the smaller feeling of Summerfield instead a huge facility. The residents get more care I feel at Summerfield, than a large facility. It has a great feel to it.

Our relationship with Summerfield was short, my Grandmother was only there for 4 days, but from the initial visit by my parents, so her being brought to the home and cared for was wonderful. The staff is warm and caring, knowledgeable and kind, both to the residents and for us, family. Their COVID protocols are above par, and we were very thankful for the safety they gave Grandma and us. The grounds are beautiful, clean, and feel very homey, which is so important for those with memory issues. I would highly recommend Summerfield to any family looking for a safe and comfortable place to move their loved one. We would give 10 stars if we could.

Somerford Place has always been a place I have referred families too. They have an amazing staff who care deeply for all their residents as if they were their own loved ones. This community is different from the other memory care communities in town from the outdoor walking paths, butterfly garden and many daily activities that it offers. I was able to gather all the information I needed in Somerford with the help of the Executive Director Jennifer, she was able to answer all of my questions and even some about the facility during covid and how they were handing it at their building. She was knowledgeable and honest on may parts of the process. Also the building is in a great location compared to other buildings in Fresno.

Somerford Place was there to help in my time of need. Jamie and Kathy were so helpful and eased my mind as we went through the process of moving my dad. My dad had to transition, of course, and all the staff have been so helpful and positive through it all. My dad is doing great and it turn I am relieved.

Sometimes, finding the right place takes time...and sometimes, you do NOT have time. My sisters and I toured two other Memory Care facilities in the area and were not happy with how our father would "fit". Strapped for time, somebody recommended Somerford. What a BLESSING. My dad was NOT "on board" and I was so worried about how the transition would go - - but I received assurance from the staff at Somerford Place. The first time I met with Kathy and Jamie, they understood the difficult situation we were in and assured me their highly trained staff could deal with it. They wanted to know as much about my Dad as possible, in order to make the move as easy as possible. That was two months ago. I have NEVER regretted the decision and while this journey is never "easy", the community at Somerford has made it as smooth as I ever would have imagined. My dad's room has NEVER been dirty (as it had been in his prior Assisted Living facility). The staff is always on top of the laundry and that is huge. One time, the staff noticed when my dad had had an accident and they handled it in a calm, cool and NICE manner. It's very difficult when your loved one feels they are more capable than they are - but the staff at SP never make him feel any less important, or any less a person. We feel confident in the health and mental care he is provided, and know that he is safe and well-cared for. SP also promotes family visits and offers a family lunch one day a week where any family are invited to dine and visit with their loved ones. I have received calls from the staff just keeping me up to date on his progress and activities and that is such a refreshing change! I felt like I had to be on top of his health at the prior facility, but truly feel SP is trained and capable of dealing with my dad's "issues". I cannot recommend Somerford Place any higher that I do. If you are lucky enough to find an opening when you need it, DO NOT HESITATE!

I am a volunteer at Somerford Place and spend time there every week. The staff is exceptional; their care and concern for residents is apparent. Erica and Nicky work hard to keep residents engaged in purposeful activities. They are familiar with residents family histories and are interested in helping each resident to make friends and connections with others. Kathy, the director and Jaime, the marketing director ensure that each "neighborhood" is clean and well kept. I hope that when I reach a point in my life where I need this kind of care, I will be able to live in a place as welcoming and well run as Somerford in Fresno.

We were pleased with Blanche's and our reception last Monday. Your pleasant demeanor matched your prior telephone etiquette. We're fortunate that Somerford is so close to Fig Garden. The close proximity, especially on a hot day, made the move easier. Our initial favorable impressions came immediately when we met you and Kathy. You're both very competent, capable, friendly people. It's impressive that there are systems in place that allow the facility to function effectively. We noticed that the staff made quick efforts to acquaint her with other residents. When we left Blanche we felt that she was quickly adjusting to her new caretakers, surroundings and neighbors and will adjust to her new location relatively easily. We had to place my grandmother here from her home. The staff here goes above and beyond with the care they provide for the residents. Marissa has made my grandmother feel loved and cherished. We have toured several places and have not found anything that compares to the type of loving environment that is created here. They also do a lot to make the families welcome as well. We moved my grandma to Somerford from another facility and she is much calmer, and seems much happier. They have been able to get her in a good routine, which is helping with her sundowning. They are able to redirect her when its needed and never make her do anything she doesn't want to. The staff at Somerford Place are extremely welcoming from the minute you walk in the door, and throughout the "neighborhoods" they have. Everyone says hello and all the residents seem happy and content. Patrick and Kathy were fantastic at accommodating us to move my grandma quickly. Deondra was out to do her evaluation very quickly and never made my grandma suspect anything strange was going on (as she sometimes can be quite cautious). Once we arrived at Somerford Place with grandma, Erica quickly took my grandma on a tour of the grounds and showed her what they do there while we arranged her room. Grandma bonded with a nurse, Serena, very quickly. Serena has been able to make my grandma very comfortable, even allowing Serena to help her shower, and painted her nails. The entire staff has taken the time to learn what my grandma liked to do in her earlier years and they use that tool to help them create a bond with her. My family and I are continuously impressed with our "reports" of how grandma is doing in their care.

In November I attended an event at Somerford Place that was benefiting the Animal Compassion Team of Fresno. The staff of Somerford made that event run so efficiently and with class. One of the volunteers of ACT has her mom as a resident there and she expressed such sincere gratitude and love for not only creating a wonderful event but how the staff cares for her mom that is living with dementia. There is something to be said about a business that their heart into everything do. If they do this kind of work as a service to the community, imagine what they can do for families.

Grateful for Somerford Place. Our story began a few years ago when my father became more challenging to care for. We searched several locations around the Fresno/Clovis area and finally decided to go with The Somerford Place. There were a few reasons why, most importantly they provided the care, a clean environment, friendly staff, craft/enrichment exercises and provided various programs that we would be able to participate in too. Their staff helped our family by providing resources and seminars to learn more about Alzheimers and help us better care for him. We grew closer as time went by and we grew closer to the staff too. I have been to several events with my 89 year old mother in law and family and really was impressed with the facility, care takers and the Director was so compassionate with my mother in law. I have recommended Somerford to my friends with aging parents. I appreciate the expertise but mostly and above all the expertise they provide and knowledge.

My mother moved in to their Seaside community in May. Every Tuesday they do a live "sing a long" that is so touching, beautiful and fun. Every employee participates either by singing or dancing with the residents. The residents have a connection to the songs and will sing, tap to the beat, or dance. It is such a happy time filled with lots of smiles as the singing moves to each of the four communities. On one particular day, I watched a wheel chair bound lady struggling to stand and beginning to get agitated. Erika, an employee walked over and held her hands and the two of them danced together. I wish I could have captured this moment. The love for the woman was evident in Erika's eyes and it was reciprocated by the resident with gratitude for knowing what she wanted and giving her time to feel like her old self by dancing. We all want to hang on to our loved ones at home. However, Somerford is the next best thing. I feel each employee truly cares for the residents. It has a very homey feeling full of love, respect, dignity, and humor. I would highly recommend Somerford to anyone faced with this difficult decision.

Somerford Place has such amazing staff. They go the extra mile to make sure all their residents are well taken care of. They are like one big, happy family. Their management team takes the time to listen and follow up with any questions or concerns very quickly. Thank you Somerford!

Somerford Place hosts concerts as a way of giving back to the community. They recently hosted a concert with Eva Scow and The Experience...what a beautiful evening for all of us--and they gave the proceeds to our Greater Fresno Parkinson Support Group! Awesome!

The best place for those with dementia and Alzheimer's. This smaller community allows for more of a personalized care. The latest therapies surround the residents. From the moment they wake up till the time they go to sleep.

Somerford Place is a wonderful residence for people with memory issues. The staff is warm and caring and the atmosphere is calm and welcoming. The building is neat and clean and the grounds are beautiful! I am thankful there is such a place for loved ones.
