Honestly... unhelpful staff.

After visiting several facilities we chose Seacrest for my grandmother, and while there were a few positives, overall the service fell short of what we needed during such a critical time. The facility itself is clean, well-maintained and has a beautiful patio with a koi pond, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives mostly ended. Once services started, the level of follow-through and support was inconsistent at best. It became difficult to get timely responses, and communication started to fall apart. During moments when my grandmother’s condition was clearly declining, we often found ourselves alone, unsure of what to do, and waiting for a nurse to come. The care from therapists was also very mixed. On one hand, there was Cody”a standout physical therapist who treated my grandmother (and our entire family) with genuine care and compassion. He listened carefully to our goals, took his time, and worked with real patience and kindness. He was easily the best part of the experience. On the other hand, there was another therapist whose approach was the complete opposite. She was rough, dismissive, and careless. On our very first day, she moved my grandmother up in bed and hit her head against the headboard without so much as an apology. Several days later, she instructed my grandma to use her arm with a broken wrist”still in soft cast”to move to edge of bed and to assist her to stand with no care for her comfort. When I asked if that was necessary since her wrist is broken and clearly in pain, the therapist insisted it was important for recovery. It was incredibly upsetting to witness, especially during such a vulnerable time. The next day her arm was in excruciating pain and we had to schedule an appointment with her orthopedic specialist. There were a couple of truly wonderful nurses who clearly cared about the well-being of their patients and went out of their way to make my grandmother comfortable. Unfortunately, for every great nurse, there seemed to be another with a bad attitude who didn’t communicate, didn’t stay on top of my grandmother’s condition, and made little effort to ensure her basic needs were met. If she didn’t eat on the first attempt, they wouldn’t try again”meaning she often went without eating at all until family arrived. The social worker was completely clueless. Never returned calls. Doesn’t know the facilities protocols. Would tell us she did things, that she didn’t actually do. She also kept pushing hospice on us. Another reason we chose this facility was because they advertised 24-hour visiting hours (none of the other facilities had this option). My grandmother was uncomfortable being away from her own bed and wanted someone with her during the night. However, when we tried to stay overnight, the staff initially insisted we couldn’t. After explaining that the 24-hour access was one of the main reasons we chose this facility”and even pointing out their own policy”they finally agreed to let us stay, but only if her roommate didn’t object. Thankfully, her roommate was incredibly kind and had no problem with it, which allowed us to be there for my grandmother when she needed us most. We went into this hoping Seacrest would provide the kind of support families desperately need when their elderly parents or grandparents are recovering or entering end of life care. While they made a strong impression in the beginning, the actual service fell short in too many important ways.

I am grateful each day that my aunt lives at Seacrest Village. She is safe, happy, and surrounded by caring staff in a beautiful, clean, and secure environment. Staff from housecleaning and maintenance, to cooking, to activities, to care taking and nursing, to physical therapy, to administration has been exceptional! Thank you, Seacrest Village!

My mother spent the last 6 months of her life as a resident here. Drastically better care than the previous facility she had been in. The staff treated her with respect and kindness. They also rigorously engaged with her. She actually said that she liked it there and that she was treated very nicely. I really can't say enough good about this facility. Formerly Jewish only, now accepting folks from outside "the tribe". They also take MediCAL.

I just helped my adopted dad move into Seacrest last week and I have to say it was the most incredible experience from start to finish.Matt was incredible to us and my dad is so happy in his new home..They all went out of their way to make him feel at home from the very first day.We all know that moving can sometimes be a very stressful experience especially at 84 years old but it was a flawless and perfect experience..Seacrest is simply amazing..thank you SO much

My family is so fortunate that Seacrest had a space for my mother-in-law when she was ready to leave her apartment. She is 96 and until recently lived independently. Once she fell and broke her arm we all knew it was time to have care 24/7. The Staff at Seacrest understood her needs and made sure she met like minded friends and made the transition as smooth and comfortable as possible. She actually loves living there even though she misses her apartment and her independence. She loves everything about her knew environment and especially the food. Matt Schiff is a delight to work with and helped with all the unknowns. Cynthia Cranmore made sure that she was safe, happy and well taken care of. We would recommend Seacrest without reservation.

Outstanding care for my Mother after broken hip and operation. She stayed in the Goldberg section of this facility for 19 days. Every single staff-member we encountered was wonderful, kind, caring, and ensured my Mom received excellent care. The food was top-notch and the entire facility sparkling clean. The grounds are gorgeous, too with koi pond, putting green, bbq, and numerous patio lounge areas. My family members and I were there a minimum of 8 hours a day, so we saw first-hand how they care for the patients. We appreciated their attention to detail, always being careful of my Mom's privacy and dignity. They have activities every day, and PT + OT 6 days a week. The security is very good too: front desk and all doors are secure. We worked closely with Lydia (CNA), Marcia (Admissions), Thai (CNA our favorite!), Arlene (PT), Rosalinda (CNA), Jackie (OT), Rebecca (CNA), Athena (OT), Raquel & Armando (CNA)...and I'm sure I forgot some of the names. If we ever have to go back to a skilled nursing facility, heaven forbid, I would not hesitate for one second to return to this facility.
May 2018
The Goldberg Center (the skilled nursing portion) does NOT live up to its reputation. While some nurses and caregivers are excellent, the level of professionalism, attention to detail, and plain common sense and care is nowhere near the level that one would expect. Residents are often ignored, left in soiled briefs for hours, and some nurses do not know how to do their jobs. If you visit often and stay on top of them, you might expect better results but even then the staff will sometimes ignore your concerns because they are "too busy" or claim that they know what they are doing. On the positive side, the therapists do a great job. Oh, and if you are on Medicare, expect them to kick you out after 20 days regardless of your condition.
