Fantastic place for loved ones. Excellent care and lively ambience. My favorite quality of the place is their staff. The staffs preparedness, knowledge, transparency, and compassion is why I chose Downey Retirement Center and why my mother (who suffers from dementia) continues to happily reside in the Oasis Memory Care living quarters. The staff has been welcoming, very understanding, and incredibly helpful from the very beginning, not only to my mother, but to my family and I as well. I like that I can communicate easily with the staff; talk and even text them about any concerns at any time. I feel safe knowing my mother is happy and is always in good hands. In a way, I feel like the community has become a part of my family too, which is more than I could have ever asked for!

The best place for your love ones. All the staff from reception, managers up to kitchen staff are very helpful. They take care of your love ones as their own family. Ever since my mom moved here, I always have the peace of mind that she is in good hands.

The staff here is excellent. I found them to be extremely knowledgeable and professional. They took the time to answer all of my questions and provided me with beneficial information to really understand the admission process.

This place has changed so much within a year. With the new management, it feels more welcoming, the people are nicer, and the building is very clean too.

Decent. Doesnt smell, staff does their job; always friendly and helpful. At times, they are short staff in the memory care unit. My mom was there for 3+ yrs until her death. The problems I had was I purchased expensive lotions and soaps for mom's dry skin and even though they were locked up and her name was written (with a blk marker) on them, they came up missing; from the beginning clothes, sheeting, and blankets are (i guess) mixed in the general wash...very few ended up in her room even though her name was marked on them (not really a big deal, so i started buying used clothing for her since she would ruin them with human waste).

Just started looking around for my father. So far Mochi B. has provided excellent customer service. Very accommodating, helpful and informative. Compared to another facility we visited residents we encountered at this facility on two visits seem happier...more alive. One visit was unannounced! We asked folks on the way out if they were being taken care of and happy there they replied "oh yes." I witnessed this but their smiles, and that look in the eye. Dr. Sharafi my father's primary physician associated with this facility has had "excellent" references. Personally attesting he has provided excellent care for my father. He not only has a heart but remembers important details not on the chart. Placing a parent or loved in a retirement home is a sad season in life period. We have asked ourselves if my father will be lonely. He already is alone at home especially at night which is concerning because he needs monitoring due to his health issues. My father is social and active and from the look of it yesterday he will remain after moving in this coming Saturday. Granted he uses a cane and walks slow. By the time we left he had already made 3 new friends. We are giving this place a try. If it doesn't work....we can always make a change. Only thing I would suggest is to spruce up the lobby a bit...needs color, pictures...plants. The rooms or apartments can be made to feel cozy if you set aside a little decorating time for your loved one. We will try to make it feel warm and homey. It will be dad's place away from home, so why not? The key is to not forget about them, and to continue showing your love by visiting often.
