We had no experience in finding a residential care home place for my dad. He was unable to take care of himself and my mom being overwhelmed with his diabetes and daily meds and night time care.... Or just getting up from a chair and walking. He showed signs of vascular dementia we believe. At the hospital he was very confused and recovering from a root canal procedure dealing with a tooth infection. We thought with all of this, how could we find the best place for him.We found APCH online and met with David the owner promptly. We knew we did not want to go to a large institutional facility right away for my dad, no way and right away the home spot available here --- was the perfect place with up to 6 residents, 24x7 care, and the staff is so pleasant. The home is clean and the opposite of institutional. My dad adjusted extremely well is more cognitive, regular on meds, diabetes under control and actually, enjoys his home cooked meals from the staff and of course the care. He is out of bed at 7am and in bed by around 8pm I try to see him daily and I am always welcomed along with anyone of our family. It feels like a home and it actually is a normal warm and friendly home.Davids team is so compassionate, friendly and consistent. The amount of daily laundry is amazing! They accomodate all of our requests! Most of all, I always ask my dad if there is anything we can do, or any food that he doesnt like here! He says, no, everything is good!So if you are in need with your family to have a place like home for your loved one..... Truely a place called home should be on your list to check out.

We were so happy with the care our mother received while at A Place Called Home. The caregivers were skilled and extremely compassionate. Their greatest concern was for our mothers comfort and safety. Equally, they provided insight to us regarding her well-being. As a whole, our family was comforted and confident that our mother, who was unable to advocate for herself, was receiving the best care possible. A Place Called Home provided end of life support through coordination with Hospice along with a doctor, podiatrist, and even a hair dresser who served our mother in the home. We never had to struggle with transporting her to appointments; these services came to her. Thank you to the wonderful caregivers and vigilant owners of A Place Called Home. Our mother enjoy her best care in her final months.

For five years my 88-year old mother lived with my husband and me. We loved having here here, but over time it became harder and harder to care adequately for her. In April, 2015 my sisters and I visited six or seven residential care facilities. Hands down, the very best we found was A Place Called Home (APCH), owned and run by David Murchison. He now has multiple APCH homes scattered throughout Clovis. The home we visited was beautiful: brand new, lovely open floor plan home with large windows and easy access to a well-landscaped fully fenced backyard. Each of the six one-person bedrooms were large, carpeted, and beautifully painted. One or more had private access to the backyard. The home was purpose-built, it wasnt a modified single-family dwelling: hallways were wide, there was adequate clearance for wheelchairs, and the bathrooms had roll-in showers. I cannot stress enough how well-thought-out these home are. Davids background as a former ER and hospice nurse shows: hes thought of just about everything. Hes a very caring soul, and it shows. Each APCH home has live-in staff. The home my mother is in has a husband-wife couple who provide coverage most days; on their days off, a second couple comes in. The beauty of this is that my mother can count on having the same people caring for for her week in and week out. When we found APCH, I felt like we had hit the jackpot. My three sisters and I all agreed (a rarity) that this was a place we would feel comfortable putting mom. She didnt want to move, and didnt really understand why a move was necessary. Nonetheless, once she toured the home, she, too, was sold. She has been at APCH for about two months now and is happy. Im able to bring her dog to visit, and that makes her doubly happy. My sisters and I have easy access to her, and we come as often as we like. Like all visitors we sign in, but otherwise it is just like visiting any private home. The only drawback for me is that I live so far away. The homes are in Clovis and I live in Northwest Fresno. David, can you build one of your homes near me next?

Mom needed to be moved, suddenly, from a semi-independent living situation to a facility providing full-time care. She has been in David and Olindas care for three weeks now. We cant really call it a facility. It really is a home - a beautiful, new, clean home! Mom has a large bedroom of her own (with her own TV!), a large sitting area for visiting, reading or group TV watching and a very inviting patio that she has thoroughly enjoyed using. We are impressed with the care she is receiving. Mom gets daily walks, medicines are dispensed to her and they are seeing to all her hygiene needs. She raves about her home-made meals and is thriving in all the attention she is receiving. We have overheard her telling friends and family members that if she cant live at home, she would want to be exactly where she is now. That says it all for us!

This home truly is a home and not one of those cold, hospital like, minimalistic assisted living places. I was wowed when I walked in and saw how beautiful and clean everything was. The furniture is nicer than anything I have ever owned and the staff are so nice. It just felt good being there. I would not want my loved ones anywhere else.

I have volunteered many times in this facility and every time I go I always feel welcome. The environment is homelike and inviting. The residents are always well taken care of. They are all dressed up with their hair done and their nails painted. I always see them engaged in some sort of activity and they are happy. I frequently see improvements in the residents.
