My wife, Joan,.has been cared for over the last 10 months at Brookdale. During this time the few incidents , falls, have been handled in a professional manner. The staff is excellent and show strong interest in the residents. I feel the choice of Brookdale to care for Joan was a good one.

The new management (director Jerilyn) has been so communicative and supportive. If I have a question or concern I receive a response within 24 hours or often much sooner if it is during business hours. The camera, which detect any falls, has captured multiple falls and should be standard in any facility. The med techs (specifically Sarah) have been kind and call me if there is a concern or question instead of just assuming. They have honestly gone out of their way personally to be sure my loved one is living in dignity. The space is generally very clean (my loved one has pets which is unusual) except for a couple of times having to be proactive in alerting staff on how to maintain her room due to pets. I know this is unusual and after discussing with director it has been remedied. The program director, China, is so loving and sweet and is easy to get into contact for any reason. It is very clear she knows the residences and is always willing to be flexible to make changes to assure they are comfortable and well cared for. The previous community my loved one lived in was quite beautiful when touring, but after 3 years I never spoke with any of the 3 directors. The care team was in constant turnover and I had to beg for a phone call back. When visiting it was clear there was neglect as dentist and doctor appointments were missed and hazards not removed from her room to name only a few issues. After touring 4 other Communities, BSR fulfilled all of our needs. It is so difficult to make a choice to move a loved one into memory care and each person has very specific needs, but I finally feel comfortable knowing she is safe and well cared for in this season of her life. With this new management and care staff I see Brookdale Sylvan Ranch only growing in a consistent, positive pattern as they take their roles seriously and make this community a home.

My dad was in a couple of different places for assisted living as well as some Skilled Nursing Facilities, although this was the only dementia care facility. That said, I was very impressed with the facility and service he received. More than anything, I think you want a place where the staff are kind and attentive and the director and management are attentive. Brookdale Sylvan Ranch earn high marks on both accounts. Issues occasionally popped up (as will happen with dementia patients with health issues), but I was always impressed with the willingness of on-site management to work with us (and my Father). The staff were also top notch. I could see my dad really took to them and was comfortable around them. I also never say a staff member ever get frustrated, which I was impressed with. Unfortunately my Father recently passed away from complications of some disabilities he had. However the staff there made a difficult time as easy as it could have been. I was very thankful for that. The grounds and layout are also very accommodating for residents and the single rooms were wonderful. If I had any gripe it would be a little more turnover in management that I would like, but its a minor gripe. Overall, I would definitely recommend this facility.

My Mom has been in 4 homes so far and Brookdale Sylvan Ranch is the BEST! The staff is attentive, caring, insightful and coordinate with the family. The last place she was at had OK staff, but nothing like the quality here. I can't say how much I appreciate their patience and efforts to keep everyone safe and entertained. I highly recommend this location for your loved one living with any form of dementia. Mom is safe, well fed, cared for! Thank-you!

I would like to start by saying “Thank you!” to the staff and facility management at Brookdale Citrus Heights. When my friend of 30 years recently took over care for her aging father, it became clear that his memory was rapidly declining. She began searching for a facility that was qualified to care for memory care residents. She found Brookdale. Brookdale at Citrus Heights is the perfect fit for my friend’s father. The staff go above and beyond to make him feel at home and comfortable. He loves milkshakes so they make him one every day and he goes for walks whenever he wants to in the gorgeous, secure yard. There are always fun activities for the residents to do and my friend is able to participate with her dad when she’s there. The staff and management are always willing to sit and talk over any concerns she may have. You’ll never feel like your loved one is being ignored or forgotten at Brookdale at Citrus Heights. So, in closing, I say Thank You Brookdale for giving my friend peace of mind knowing her father is in safe, capable hands when she can’t be there. She is important to me and he is important to her. It’s nice to know he’s just as important to Brookdale.

Brookdale Citrus Heights is a very nice place in a quiet location. I brought my Dad here because of the spacious and beautifully landscaped yard. My Dad is a walker so this was very important. I spend quite a bit of time there and everyone is willing to talk with me and help in any way they can. The current activity schedule is filled with a variety of things to do and is always improving. I look at the activity calendar everyday I am there and even participate with my Dad. I am looking forward to the outings that will be scheduled in the future when the Covid restrictions are released. My Dad loves the food and they make him milk shakes everyday at lunch since it is one of his favorite things (Thank you Serena). While I was there I witnessed someone from their Corporate office working with the chef on food protocols so I know that Brookdale is continually working to improve the food that is served daily. I gave a 4 star rating as I feel there is always room for improvement at all places. Brookdale is being proactive in improving their facility and practices. Currently they are doing a remodel and I can't wait to see how it turns out. Having a family member in memory care isn't easy so for me it is a relief that there are so many knowledgeable and loving people that are caring for my Dad. Thank you Pam, China, Serena, Roberto, Jerilyn, Jan, Thomasa, Trinea and Rachel. I appreciate everything you have done for my Dad and I.

I give this three stars. Direct care staff are generally pretty good for my mom. They get 4 stars. The have some entertainment-functions, but not as many as we were told before we moved her in. What they provide is good, but not enough. 4 stars. Management is not responsive and not dependable to resolve the issues they themselves create. 1 star.
