My mom just moved here and seems to like the Townsend house, lots of activities to do. Still says the veggies are not cooked enough, but we all know you cook the vitamins out if you cook too much maybe one day there will be a happy medium. 🙂

We came to Townsend House a little over two years ago while searching for an Assisted Living facility for my in-laws, in their late 80s. We were in a bit of a crisis: a sudden downturn in health, limited finances, and a short time table before they would need to move in. By the time we reached Townsend House we were at wits end. Once we met the team we were sure there must be something we hadn't asked because they were responsive, flexible, affordable, kind, expert and they had a room available. Fast forward two years and now we are sure that it was NO mistake that we came to TH (as we call it). When we walk into the front door, we are always welcomed by all the staff, fed any day of the week (no additional charge and excellent food), and feel like we've joined our home team. This team of caregivers is run by the owner. No corporate layer. Just real humans who love seniors and care deeply for them. Hair is done, earrings on, beds made, food prepared just as they like it (without being asked). When my father in law passed recently, the team was a gentle presence, shared a tear, and reached out to us and continue to love my mother-in-law. We look forward to our visits to TH. Its just like a home. Our home.

Three years ago I visited several small, medium and larger assisted living residences in Chico, California for my mom. Townsend House, as a medium sized place (30 to 35 residents), offered everything I was looking for: It was large enough to support numerous in-house activities (Bingo, Current event discussions, Group crosswords, Varieties of card games, etc.), yet small enough that the staff would know each resident intimately. Residents range in abilities and are very supportive of one another. The atmosphere is that of a home rather than a care facility. Meals are communal; medications are administered by staff; there are endless opportunities to engage in activities; singers and other groups visit to entertain (During Halloween, local elementary kids trick-or-treat at each resident's door); and, once or twice a month residents who wish to, are taken on a field trip to see almond blossoms, Christmas lights, Farmers Market, lunch, etc. Celebrations are organized for holidays such as Christmas, Mother's Day, St Patrick's, etc., and family is encouraged to join in. The staff is comprised of angels. They are professional and friendly, know each resident by name, and genuinely care about the well-being of each resident. All residents are treated with respect. The basic fees are fairly competitive, but there are add-ons for additional care (assistance with dressing, bathing, monitors for wandering, etc.) the owner is very open about discussing the bottom line expenses. Overall, I couldn't be more pleased with moving my mom to Townsend. One day when she passes, I will look back knowing she was happy, safe, and well cared for her last few years.

The staff at Townsend House was extremely supportive and caring for my Mother as she declined in her health. I felt they always put her needs first, no matter what time of day. I am so grateful to them, they provided the 24 hour care that would have been impossible for my wife and I to provide. I have recommended them to any one that has asked about my experience- I would not go anywhere else. When you are faced with placing a loved one in a facility, you need to feel you can have the utmost trust in their abilities- the Townsend House staff is the best there is. I will always think of them fondly. Jeff Ford

My father was a resident of the Townsend House for almost 12 years. He was always treated with love and respect. The management and staff treated him as part of their family. They were incredibly attentive to his needs. They knew immediately when he was not feeling well and would communicate to me and his doctor. Their attentiveness kept dad out of the hospital many times. Dad was not always the most congenial person and at times could be difficult, but the management and staff were always able to turn the "grumpy" guy to smiles! He loved playing poker, the exercise program, the men's breakfast outings, Christmas Parties and special dinners. At the end of dad's life they were so supportive and helpful. I do not know what I would have done without them. I cannot say enough good things about the Townsend House. They were family to me also.

I've worked at Townsend House for a little under a year now,and I am very proud to work there. I love how you feel like you've joined a family. Everyone is so caring not just for our residents (who we love like family) but for each other too. the one thing i disliked from working other jobs was lack of team work and working together, but at Townsend House everyone jumps up to help. I Love my job, My residents, MY co workers, my admin and the knowledge I've gained working there.

My mother-in-law lived at the Townsend House for many years and loved the facility and all the staff. They provided the best loving care, friendship, and everything else she could need or want. There was always entertainment, encouragement, love and care for the residents as needed or wanted. I thank them for giving my mother-in -law the most wonderful last days of her life. She truly loved living there and the family loved visiting because we and all the families were also treated special. An awesome care home and staff. I have told them that I am reserving my spot for the future!! Thank You so much for all you are and all you did!

Our 93 year-old mother passed away last week at Townsend House after residing there for the last two years. She was surrounded by her family and the kindest, most caring group of caregivers anyone could wish to have near. They not only took excellent care of her needs, they also were so considerate of us in our sadness. Our experience was that our mother was treated with kindness, respect, and dignity. She considered Townsend House her home and had made many friends there, both residents and staff. When a family member is no longer able to live independently and must enter an assisted living residence, definitely consider Townsend House. Our family gives it the very highest endorsement.
