This letter is from the sisters of a resident at La Marea. We came into town in March to celebrate our sister's 80th birthday, and we wanted to make sure we let you know how impressed we were with this facility and the amazing staff that so lovingly works at this location. We have had much experience with numerous assisted living/memory care facilities in Michigan, Arizona and California. We have never been so impressed as we are with your care facility, the programs offered to your residents, and the positive/cheerful attitude of your staff. Your dedication to our service members, older residents and successful daily events means so much, to so many. Our sister is very happy and always tells us how much she likes “this place” and how nice everyone is. She looks forward to the activities, daily walks and especially loved playing the drums and visiting with the small horse that comes to La Marea. We are so pleased that our niece and nephew found this amazing care facility for our sister. Thank you SO much for your caring attention and love for your residents... it really shows in the faces of staff and residents!

It was time. Mom had resided in a senior community for over 8 years, transitioning from independent to assisted living, and then the need for memory care. IF we found another community that met the caliber of staff and care as she was receiving, would we consider moving her closer to my home. La Marea Generations in Carlsbad is that community. Melissa and Rebecca, in sales and marketing, guided us through the transition with genuine concern for Mom's best interest. At this time, Mom has been in her Generations private room for 5 months. New is nice, and La Marea has that appeal. Mom has her friend group and especially enjoys the music enrichment programming. But it is the staff that makes this home for Mom. We have great confidence in the med staff and we communicate often with Julie and Glen. I am fortunate to visit often and they always make themselves available. Jesus and his maintenance crew run a tight ship on cleaning! We are especially grateful for the Generations Care Team that we've met: **Reyna**, Alijandra, Gladys, Dani, Sandy and Tamara. Besides keeping her and her room safe, clean, and put together, they have learned what makes Mom smile.

I read the 5-star reviews and as a result I moved my loved on to La Marea. I hope I can provide and update later with a worthy 5-star review, but for now, it's 3-stars at best (1-star for the executive director and 5-stars for the staff). The prior executive director (ED) led a 5-star facility (and hence the 5-star reviews from months/years ago) but she left and the new ED leaves so much to be desired for families, residents, and even his own staff. The facility is gorgeous and new, and most of the caregivers (med techs and caregiver staff) are outstanding, but leadership is dismal. There's NO communication about anything to the family -- always reactive, and even then, families are often ignored. So many things slip through the cracks around La Marea. Interestingly, on their website, they have NO MEDICAL/NURSING leader profile, yet they are a medical facility. They have a delightful, temporary nurse who is exceptional but she is not permanent, and she still has to answer to the ED which is a problem because he's more interested in running a business than a top tier senior care facility. ED has no connection to residents, no communication to families, and even his own staff do not like him or respect his absentee, scattered, leadership (I've asked around). La Marea desperately needs a compassionate, charismatic ED who knows the residents, proactively and genuinely communicates to families, and runs a care focused facility that will be respected by the employees. Without the right leader, even phenomenal employees cannot thrive. Why doesn't the owner/parent company of La Marea do something? Why don't they survey the staff? Survey the residents/family? So much potential, and such a disappointment presently.

Update to my review from several years ago. Nowhere near as glowing, unfortunately. There are still so many wonderful, caring staff in Generations, including the Director of Generations, Javier. However, when the previous Executive Director left, everything changed. The current ED is MIA, with almost no involvement with residents, families, and most importantly, staff. This is has resulted in lower morale, and higher staff turnover. Whereas previously I also felt that the parent company's (Integral Senior Management) management was involved and engaged, that no longer appears to be the case. I'm hopeful that there will be a change that will allow La Marea to be the special place that it previously was. The residents and the staff deserve better. My prior review: My mom was resident #1 in Generations, and it's been a joy to watch the number of residents grow, and to see how beautifully La Marea manages that growth. Javier leads the Generations team with more compassion and professionalism than I've ever seen. He is beloved by all the residents and staff. Gracie, Glenn, Alana, and really all the caregivers are so supportive and kind with both the residents and their families. I have complete confidence that my mother is being cared for with love and compassion. Joseph is always coming up with fun activities for them to do, and families are always welcomed and encouraged to participate. Food is delicious, and just one more indication that La Marea is different than many other memory care facilities that I've seen. My mother has a gorgeous view of the Carlsbad hills that is very reminiscent of Italy, and the facility itself is gorgeous. Launa Cornell, the MD was my lifesaver when we were considering where to move my mom, and supported us all along the journey. We feel so remarkably fortunate to have found La Marea as a place for my mom to live her best life, regardless of her diagnoses.

She's all energy, incredibly knowledgeable and clearly loves the Community she represents. All that, plus the serene location with mountain views makes La Marea the easy choice!

La Marea Senior Living is the best of the best! When I began my search for the best Assisted Living community for my parents, I didn't know what to expect. I toured more than 15 communities throughout north county. Some I really liked, some I walked into and immediately walked out (when you know, you know). When I walked into La Marea the first time I was immediately taken by the beautiful interior, the friendly staff, and the fantastic sales manager, Gaby. By this time, I had toured so many places that I simply asked Gaby to sell me on the care that my parents would receive (my foremost concern) and that is where La Marea shines brightest! She introduced me to Launa the Executive Director who is also an RN. Launa is amazing and leads La Marea like it is her extended family and not a business. She has a magical presence and is never too busy to talk with anyone, from residents to family members stopping by her always open office door. She has assembled an amazing staff of caring and competent people who follow through with her vision. Anthony is the RN who leads the care staff, and I can't say enough about him or the highly skilled and competent care staff that he has brought to La Marea. Within a week, my parents had met everyone on the care staff, and the caregivers had gotten to know my parents on such a personal level. They treat the residents like family and in my parent's case, quickly grew to love and care about them deeply. I can't stress enough the high level of experience and empathy that the caregivers exude. Any questions or concerns are addressed immediately and with the utmost care and competence. The med techs are top notch, as well. They are knowledgeable, caring, and quick with communication which is so important. Activities are a huge part of what makes La Marea so special. Lauren the activity director is amazing. She has an infectious personality that makes everyone around her smile. The residents absolutely love her! She has something special happening several times a day to keep everyone socially engaged, entertained, physically moving, and laughing! Field trips are so much fun as are animal visits, family paint nights, and live music which happens weekly! My Mom recently moved into the Memory Care level called Generations after the passing of my Dad. Javier runs the memory care level and is great. He has such a calming personality and his competence is so reassuring. Questions and concerns are addressed immediately. He and his care staff know every resident personally, their likes and dislikes, and how to keep them engaged and feeling peaceful. Moving your loved one into an Assisted Living community is one of the most difficult decisions you will ever make. I am so glad that I walked into La Marea!

We moved my partner, Don into La Marea in April. Don has had Parkinson's for 16 years. He loves the food, the staff and the overall environment: he says it's like being on a cruise ship . I am there at least 3 days per week and everyone is welcoming and friendly. Don is exactly where he needs to be; where all his needs are met and he's well cared for. We hit the LTC jackpot when we found Launa and La Marea 

Our father recently joined the La Marea Senior Living family and we couldn't be happier with the transition and the care that he has received during his first month. My father is a resident in their Generations Memory Care unit which specializes in those living with Alzheimer's and dementia. The team at La Marea has created a care plan that is tailored to my Father's unique needs. I toured a few facilities before making this important decision and I can tell you that success starts at the top (You get a good feeling the moment you walk in the door). This facility has a dedicated, experienced and knowledgeable Executive Director who has built a solid team of caregivers, culinary experts and support staff. In addition, La Marea is brand new; The place is impeccable! The residents look happy and seem genuinely interested to socialize with the friendly staff and other residents. There are plenty of organized activities and they do an excellent job of posting daily photos on their community Facebook page (It's my favorite Facebook page these days). It's comforting to know that my father is receiving the best care and enjoying his days (and meals). La Marea Senior Living is worth a visit! I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this community to anyone looking to place a loved one in an assisted living facility.

La Marea exceeded my expectations in every way. The executive director, Launa, is a registered nurse; she represents the professional, caring spirit of La Marea and dedication to providing quality care. With her extensive management experience, medical knowledge, and kind heart, Launa has created a loving, secure, and nurturing home for the La Marea family. Anthony and Javier, the care directors of assisted living and memory care are knowledgeable, competent, and caring, reflecting an attitude that every resident is unique and their care is tailored to meet their specific needs. The outstanding caregivers, med techs, sales, concierge and services directors- Glenn, Maxie, Gracie, Laura, David, Joan, Silvia, Gaby, Reika, Perla and Sebastian, are kind, giving people who strive each day to accommodate and make the extra effort to brighten my mom's day with a smile. La Marea is a community that considers all senior essential needs with on-site physical and occupational therapists Ramsey and Holly, who also conduct exercise activities. The community is beautifully designed, offering comfortable apartments with high airy ceilings, common areas, dining, and patios with views of the lovely Carlsbad hills. There are many amenities- a cafe, gym, hair salon, movie theatre, and fun activities such as live music, coordinated by Lauren, the enthusiastic activities director. La Marea has delicious food prepared by gourmet chef Mark, offering a wide variety of menu choices to accommodate all diets and preferences. Visitors can also enjoy a meal with their loved ones at La Marea's lovely restaurant with a view. It is comforting knowing my mother is happy and comfortable in a lovely environment and receives excellent care from kind, personable staff who take pride in their job and love what they do.

My mother recently moved to La Marea, needing a higher level of care. I can't say enough positive things about this community. Gaby, along the maintenance and front desk staff, were super helpful over the entire move in process. The staff have taken exceptional care for my mom. My mom has commented several times to me how wonderful and kind everyone is (including the other residents). Launa and Anthony have been super responsive in addressing any logistical issues that have come up during my mom's first few weeks being there. On top of all of this, the community itself is brand new (as of 2021) and gorgeous, the food is delicious, and the living units are top notch. If assisted living is the standard of care you seek for you or your loved one, I would highly recommend La Marea without hesitation!

This new senior facility is a home run.. I went to their grand opening this week and received a tour from Launa Cornell and was literally blown away by the beauty of the living spaces, the decor, the views which overlook horseback riding trails and are just plain stunning! The activities are first-class for the residents with award winning restaurant style dining, activity rooms, fitness center and salon and they even have a multi-media lounge and theater that with large seats and a big screen, giving off the luxury impression of a Cinepolis style theater environment. Equally as impressive as the facility is, the quality of the staff. Our tour guide, Launa, the executive director, knew every inch of the facility, and her professionalism and passion was contagious. It was easy to see how much she loves her work and residents will delight in this beautiful, safe, dynamic living experience nestled in the serene Carlsbad countryside.

Making the decision to move my mother into an assisted living facility was one of the most difficult of my life, and I had a great deal of trepidation prior to arriving at La Marea for a tour of the facility. From the moment I first sat down with Gaby Alvarado to discuss my options, I felt at ease as if I were talking to a lifelong friend. She guided me though all the options and made me feel very comfortable with the whole process. My mother was the first person to move into the facility and I can tell you it was not easy to convince her it was the right decision. Launa, Gabby, and the entire staff made her feel welcome from day one. Thank you for all that you do every day to assist others in this transitional phase of their life. You truly are a blessing.

There are so many reasons that Peter and I can give you for how magnificent La Marea in Carlsbad is for residents as well as their families/close friends. We visited and interviewed several assisted living facilities for our dear friend, and though we saw a few that we especially liked, La Marea stood out to us. Their Director of Sales and Marketing, Austin Irwin, warmly and genuinely met with us a couple times, gave us a thorough tour, patiently answered all our questions, and introduced us to their exuberant Executive Director of the facility, Launa Cornell, RN. Since the first day that we stepped into La Marea, EVERYONE we have met of the staff - the desk people, the financial directors, social director, the care staff, health staff -especially the head nurse and his assistant, restaurant servers, and most impressively, Austin and Launa, have been extremely pleasant and helpful with any of our needs or our friend's needs. We visit our friend frequently; everyone always makes us feel very comfortable and welcome. Our friend tells us and her out-of-state family and her many in-town friends how kind and respectful the entire staff is to her, especially the care-staff. She loves that they call her, "Miss Helen." The entire staff reflects how much they care about the welfare of the residents at the facility. Additionally, our friend is very happy with the variety of selections of the menu for all meals, and loves that the chef offers a "special of the day." The facility has a food committee, comprised of residents and culinary staff, and welcomes the suggestions of the residents in an effort to please. Our friend loves the jumbo shrimp that she has for an appetizer almost daily! The facility also offers a range of social activities and entertainment to please the interests of many. Our friend especially appreciates the musical performances and activities. One day recently when we visited, there was a group of college students assisting with a music exercise class. The older residents love having the younger people work with them. Because the facility was built during the pandemic, the administrative staff made sure that the building was constructed with state-of-the-art tools and materials to enhance the safety and health of the residents. We are so happy that Helen is the first resident of her attractive and roomy apartment. We are thankful that the facility offers many services, including a hair salon, gym, theatre, and lovely courtyard for afternoon drinks and snacks, and that they also take care of all of Helen's laundry and cleaning needs. If Helen must give up the independent lifestyle that she has enjoyed in her own home for over fifty years in San Diego, she and we are very grateful that she has the opportunity to live at La Marea, where the staff all contribute to giving the residents the best possible living environment. Awesome Team. Beautiful Place. Sales Director Gaby Alvarado is a true knowledgeable professional and walked me through the entire process long distance. We arrived fairly late at night (8:30 pm) from Arizona after traveling all day. Luana was awaiting our arrival and was so welcoming. She stayed late into the evening and made sure mom had a delicious warm meal and all she needed. Gracie, Glenn and Bertha are wonderful caring people with great attitudes, and attention to detail. They made me feel so comfortable leaving mom with them. We are very confident Mom has great care at LaMarea. Thank you Team LaMarea!

My Mom has been a resident of La Marea for 2 moths now. The building is new and has many fantastic amenities and daily activities (coffee cafe, library, gym, hair salon, movie theater, restaurant with chef, bar and arts and crafts). It's located in a beautiful area close to the ocean. The staff has been very attentive and receptive to my mom's needs and requests from me and my siblings. Launa, Gabby, Solana, Sylvia, Anthony, Javier, Vanessa, Lindsey, Sandy, etc. have all been wonderful! If I forgot to include your name, my apologies. I highly recommend La Marea!
