My parents moved into Glenbrook Assisted Living in Carlsbad about two months ago , and I couldn’t be more grateful for how smooth the entire process has been. Joanne in admissions was incredibly helpful from the start, guiding us every step of the way. The nursing staff and Sadie in administration have also been wonderful- consistently attentive, caring and supportive. It’s clear that the team genuinely cares about the residents and their well being. A very special shoutout goes to Kate at the front desk, who has truly been the MVP of our experience. I had questions nearly every day, and she always greeted me with a smile, patience and kindness. Her welcoming personality really sets the tone for the entire community. What stands out most is the overall atmosphere-everyone seems happy to be there, both staff and residents alike. The facility is always clean, bright and inviting. It’s reassuring to know my parents are in such a positive and caring environment.

Preparing to move your loved one from their home to an assisted living community is never easy. JoAnn Ramsey at Glenbrook has helped our family navigate this conversation with care and understanding. From independent living to assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing, La Costa Glen/Glenbrook truly offers it all. They are a one-stop shop for our needs and help mitigate the likelihood of having to send my parents to the hospital. What makes Glenbrook stand out most is the culture within the community. There is a true all hands on deck approach. The Executive Director, Sadie, stays very involved in the day-to-day operations, which is a big reason why so many staff members have been there for a long time. The Director of Assisted Living, Kahina, was also wonderful and able to answer every question my siblings and I had. You can tell the staff look up to Kahina. Social worker Joean Heineman was extremely helpful in addressing questions about the skilled nursing facility. Kate at the front desk is also always friendly and welcoming! From the nurses to the caregivers, the staff consistently demonstrate patience, professionalism, and genuine concern for residents’ well-being. They take the time to listen and respond to individual needs, which makes a meaningful difference for both residents and their families. The facility itself is clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully organized. Common areas are comfortable and inviting, encouraging social interaction, while resident rooms provide a sense of privacy and dignity. Safety measures are clearly in place, which adds peace of mind. Recently I participated, with my husband and a cousin, in helping our 96-year-old aunt move into an assisted living apartment at GlenBrook Health Center. We started with many positives on our side. First of all, our aunt was living in LaCosta Glen and had visited the GlenBrook Health Center on several occasions. She liked the community very much. Additionally, she confidently asserted that she was ready to make this move, in fact, looking forward to it in many ways. Another positive, the community is small and personal. The community spaces are absolutely clean and maintained well, it is all very charming. Staff and residents seemed to like one another. During our move-in process, many staff members went out of their way to answer our questions and in many cases stopped what they were doing to find a solution for our needs. Natalie from the Wellness Team took extra time to address many of my questions and helped me better understand the management structure that the Wellness and Care staff work under. Her time was valuable and I appreciated her help. I think it cannot be easy to accommodate interruptions to routine which included our aunt arriving after dinner to occupy her room for the first night. I wish I could name the 3 Care Team staff that all came together to our aunt’s room that first night. It seemed like an honest and sincere welcome, not just functionary. Residents also smiled often, introduced themselves and answered some of our questions. Many offered us their own positive assessments of their community and the GlenBrook staff. I liked the all-around happy vibe. Moving from a large, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment, I wondered if we would be able to make the small, apartment at GlenBrook work. I’m happy to say the room turned out better than I could have imagined. Our aunt said she thought it was more beautiful than her larger apartment. More positives, the GlenBrook apartment floorpan is surprisingly workable, the closet space is reasonable and the bathroom is very spacious. The apartments all have widows looking out to a courtyard and the daylight that streams-in is uplifting, cheerful. Kudos also to GlenBrook as the new paint and carpeting were very nice. We had extra help from JoAnn, the Admissions Director, ensuring we had access to paint and carpet samples to choose from. JoAnn also provided info on the apartment’s electrical outlet placements, provided valuable handouts on items and quantities to bring and gave us information on movers, resellers and donation options in the area. GlenBrook’s Wellness Team has jumped through hoops getting our aunt’s medical needs addressed. I especially appreciate Snezanna taking time to answer my many questions and get our aunt’s needs met and her routines established. Snezanna couldn’t have been more helpful. Our aunt seems happy meeting residents and socializing. She’s been very appreciative of the food and dining experiences and she’s acknowledge having an interest in activities saying there is always something going on. I am sure she is in the community that is right for her. The transition to a new living situation is a process and I don’t expect everything will go smoothly immediately. As staff and resident become more familiar with one another I hope the confusion subsides. It’s difficult to generalize how long it usually takes as each new resident has a unique situation and factors that will dictate this transition period. I love the care I receive from Dr.Aida Berdasco. She is very thorough and listens to her patient's healthcare problems. Before coming to be her patient, I had no care for a month and a half, and having major surgery to open my arteries. She has done so much to insure my health in just three visits! I recommend her to some many , she is a wonderful Doctor. I feel blessed to have found her! I had less care and less visits with my prior PCP. I love the staff at Green Brook Medical. They are so kind and caring! They go out of their way to make you feel welcomed, and they all make sure you understand any and all purposes of any tests, medicines, and report their findings to you promptly. You don't have to be stressed, they comfort you and encourage you as you go along in your journey of your healthcare.

This was not my first Rehabilitation experience, but was definitely my best experience. The nursing staff and the therapy staff were exceptional. And they helped arrange my Dr. appointments. OT and Pt staff gave me a great support. I felt respected and cared for every minute of every day. I had a private Caregiver during part of my stay at GlenBrook and she was also treated with respect. There are few words that truly capture my deep gratitude for Glenbrook. Having had prior (and often difficult) experiences with skilled nursing facilities while caring for my uncle, we were honestly terrified when it came time to place my dad”83 years old and our walking miracle”into rehab care. But Glenbrook exceeded every expectation. If most skilled nursing homes top out at two stars, at best, Glenbrook deserves seven! The staff went above and beyond at EVERY turn. The facility itself is beautiful, but more importantly, the care is exceptional. Every nursing technician, including PT/OT, treated my dad”and our whole family”with dignity, patience, and expertise. We never felt like just a room number or a body in a bed. We felt like part of a community. Even the food was amazing! We spent afternoons outside with my dad, watching hummingbirds and doves by the fountain. The entire space felt peaceful and healing. There were some medical bumps in the road for my dad, but Glenbrook was by our side the whole way. Over the course of five weeks, we experienced something rare in healthcare: consistent, compassionate, quality care. We are home now and he is cruising up and down the stairs with safety, skills, recovery, and confidence he gained at Glenbrook. Every skilled nursing facility should look to Glenbrook as the gold standard. I don’t know what’s in their water, what their secret sauce is, or how they’ve managed to build such a cohesive, mindful, and expert team”but I’m endlessly grateful they did. My husband had a fall with Parkinson’s and he needed rehab after 5 days at Scripps Memorial. We were very pleased with the care and Therapy he received! Everyone of the staff were very attentive and help! Afrin was efficient in checking my husband in and explained everything to the tee. Joanne a Admissions showed me the facility and explained everything well. We are so happy not to have gone to another farther facility. His prescription meds were dispensed and given to my husband with care. Sara greeted us with open arms, Angel is a sweethart with professionalism and care, all the other staff including Edwin was all highly impressive. Hubby says he feels stronger than before he came to Glenbrook. Not a complaint at all compared to 1 other facility we were at 3 years ago! Food was also good! Just a great place to rehab and get back on track

I truly cannot say enough good things about Glenbrook. My mom was transferred here from La Costa Glen Independent Living during the COVID pandemic. I handled the move almost entirely on my own, and the support I received made all the difference. The recommendations for movers and extra help were incredibly useful during a very stressful time. Since arriving at Glenbrook, my mom has gone through several transitions”from Assisted Living, to Memory Care, and now to Skilled Nursing. Each step of the way, the staff has shown an incredible level of care”not just for my mom, but for me as well. Kahina and Efrain, in particular, were both compassionate and understanding. They guided me through each difficult decision and made sure my mom was always in the best hands. Their kindness helped me feel more prepared and reassured during each phase of this journey. Just yesterday, I even received a picture of my mom participating in a group activity. My Mom was in a Skilled Nursing Facility before and had a terrible experience in Carmel Mountain. We were very nervous going to another SNF. Once entering Glenbrook we knew we were in the right place! The Physical/Occupational Therapists, RNs, MDs, Administrators, Admission Staff, Cooks, Rooms, and Hair Stylists are AMAZING!!!! I wish I had the words to, truly, express my gratitude for everyone that is caring for my Mom during this difficult time. I would NEVER consider another facility, EVER!!!!! I live in Los Angeles, and had the opportunity to transfer my Mom to a 5 Star Facility near my home. But, after one day at Glenbrook my Mom refused to be transferred! From admission to discharge, (month long rehab), my mother was treated with great care. Mr. Quintano was wonderful as initial contact person. Nursing care, physical and occupational therapy were top notch. Everyone was so encouraging that mom would work a little harder each time. (Thank you Henryka for getting mom on the stairs.). Activities in the sunroom were inviting. Kudos to the planners. Days with dog visits were wonderful for the residents. Quiet time in the library was very healing. The food menu was varied and interesting. Many thanks to all who took care of not only my mother but all the residents.

I brought my mom to Glenbrook to recover after a pacemaker implant and congestive heart failure and highly recommend this facility. Glenbrook is clean, well maintained and they have some amazing staff members. I am so grateful for the nursing staff who have been there for her through 2 unexpected health issues. They have some really special CNAs that go above and beyond to help her with daily living activities. The food is good and they offer plenty of activities. The PT and OT staff are exceptional and get her on her feet even when she doesn't want to move. They offer everything you need to get rehabilitated and return home

We never expected he would have many post op complications, but the nursing staff were quick to recognize his problems as they occurred and acted immediately to return him to the hospital each time. A close family member stayed at GlenBrook for several weeks. The care they received, even down to the smallest things, was excellent. Every single member of the staff was kind, capable, and compassionate. They went above and beyond on multiple occasions, working with us to find creative solutions to problems, and, despite having dozens of other patients to look after, always found time to answer questions or provide assistance. Every single aspect of their services was excellent, from the food, to the laundry service, to the nurses and nursing assistants, to the physical therapy team, to the administrative staff. The rooms are spacious and fairly private. The grounds are beautiful and tranquil and help bring patients and their loved ones a sense of peace and calm. We didn't make much use of this, but they have activities every day, and I could see how much those meant to the other residents. All that said, what really makes GlenBrook special are the people. I would never have believed this when we first arrived, but I was a little sad when we left, because I felt like I had made friends there. When you see people working so hard to take care of someone you love, you never forget it. I will never forget the people at GlenBrook for their dedication to their work. They truly make the world a better place. The results speak for themselves: in our case, our family member was well on their way to a full recovery, thanks in no small part to the excellent care provided by the people at GlenBrook. If you are in need of a skilled nursing facility, I absolutely recommend GlenBrook.

You take very good care of my grandparents. But, this new rule that we have to let you know 24 hours in advance if we plan to stay for lunch is unreasonable. I Drive more than 80 miles to visit them, I don’t always know when I can do this, or how long I be able to stay. They were very embarrassed that I had to just sit there while they ate their lunch and you refused to serve me. Really, a little more appreciation for the guests of your residents would be appropriate. Refusing service because I couldn’t anticipate the visit is pretty cold.

My 96 year old mom was just admitted to Glenbrook skilled nursing after a brief hospital stay. This experience and process can be harrowing, especially when one is 96. I am so grateful that my mom was accepted here - it is her second stay at Glenbrook to help regain mobility after a hospital admission. It was an evening admission and that can be difficult on mom as she is tired and stressed from being in the hospital. Mom's transfer and transition to her room was seamless and smooth. Glenbrook staff arrived to her room just after paramedics brought her in and everyone quickly moved to get mom settled and comfortable.Two CNAs came in immediately as well as two nurses.This is uncommon and does Not normally happen at most skilled nursing facilities! I must give a huge shout out to my mom's amazing admission charge nurse, Arkady. He greeted us kindly and spoke with me about medical details, daily schedules, and mom's history. (At the same time, another nurse - Jennifer spoke with mom, reassuring her and answering mom's own questions - I can't express enough how helpful this was as it made the entire settling-in process go quickly. Arkady is a very special RN. I have a medical background and have been in many hospitals across the country, meeting and working with countless RNs, including some of the best at UCSD, Rady Children's, Scripps and Sharp as well as the NIH in Washington, D.C. I can say most assuredly and confidently that Arkady is hands down one of the best RNs I have ever met. With his knowledge, patience, thoroughness, attitude, and a big welcoming smile, I can tell he goes above and beyond the call of duty for his patients and their families. He was also quick to ask if I had questions, something often overlooked. I am not easily impressed as I have met many amazing RNs over the past 30 years but Arkady truly impressed me. Wow. Thank you Arkady! I need to also acknowledge mom's two wonderful CNAs that greeted her upon arrival, Harley and Marilou. And a special shout out goes to Harley. Mom can be anxious in the hospital and rehab and he immediately got down on mom's level, spoke gently and calmly to her so she could hear him and immediately responded to my noting that mom had low vision. It really struck me how quickly he intuitively came to mom's side, reassuring her with care and empathy, especially when he showed her how to call for help (for someone with low vision it is so difficult to find the nurse's call button on the remote). Mom's call button was quickly replaced with a small plastic ball to squeeze when she needed assistance. Brilliant! This admission process, for my mom and me, is the most difficult part of any rehab stay and none of this would have been possible without Joanne, Admissions Director, who managed to accomplish the impossible of getting mom admitted within just a few hours before mom's transport to Glenbrook from the hospital. All the while Joanne was so friendly and helpful to me, dotting the "I's" and crossing every "T," as well as answering every one of my many initial questions. Without Joanne's knowledge, skill and patience this could not have happened so quickly, I am indebted. I am looking forward to mom's mobility rehabilitation with Glenbrook's wonderful Physical Therapy staff and for her to quickly recover as she is being taken care of in every possible way in this beautiful facility. There is a relaxing garden with a soothing fountain, fun activities and great dining, even a beauty salon! For the first time in months, I have been able to sleep through the night without worrying about my mom. Thank you for that Glenbrook staff and thank you for taking such exemplary care of my mom.

My dad came here for about a week after getting a pacemaker. This is the nicest rehabilitation center I've ever seen! The staff is friendly and helpful. It is so clean and beautifully decorated. The physical and occupational therapist are motivating and knowledgeable, the equipment is first rate. There are the usual activities which are terrific. One day they had a Hawaiian luau with entertainment, Mai Tai or Pina Colada and a wonderful plate of teriyaki chicken on a skewer, Hawaiian meatball with pineapple, a crisp warm vegetable bite and a Hawaiian roll. The weather was wonderful and the company delightful. I am so impressed with Glen Brook.

I have been a RN for 49 years and have lived in fear of ever having to go to a Snf. Those fears were eradicated upon my admission. I fell and broke bones and went by ambulance to Scripps for a few days and then to Glen Brook for rehab. The facility is clean and odor free. The staff is amazing. I was treated like everyone’s favorite aunt. I never waited for someone to answer my call light. I observed the interactions among the residents and each other. Always kind and cheerful. Someone checked on me often. My dog was allowed to visit. Medication was accurate and one time. Many activities were available. The rehab department got me up and ambulatory even when I didn’t want to. I bless them. For anyone needs skilled nursing, this is a wonderful place.

I found myself in an emergency health crisis with my parents wherein they both needed to move to a skilled nursing facility. From the moment of my first call to the friendly voice on the other end, I felt like GlenBrook would be the right place for my parents. When you are very stressed about a drastic life change, compassion and caring mean so much. Every single person I have dealt with at GlenBrook has been so completely helpful. Their nurse, Arkaady, has gone above and beyond in trying to help us manage their care. He is kind and patient and truly cares about the residents he is responsible for. Nursing assistant Sarah knows all my parents' personal preferences and hand feeds my dad now that he has lost a great deal of muscle control. And, you would not believe the food at this place! My parents are eating so well! They frequently say the food is "so delicious" and "excellent". I cannot say enough good things about this amazing facility. I know I made the right choice for my parents. I feel they are well cared for. I highly recommend GlenBrook Health Center.

Glenbrook Healthcare Center is one of the best Skilled Nursing Facilities that I have seen. I am always greeted by very professional and caring staff. Many of the patients that I have seen and spoken with are clean, happy and tell me that their stay there has been excellent. I have been working in the Senior Care and Housing industry for over 10 years and always refer Glenbrook Healthcare Center to the families that have/need this type of service/care.

Our experience here was very positive. My mother fell and needed good care while she recuperated. We found the facility to be beautiful and clean. The staff was attentive and caring. It was amazing to experience a place filled with so much genuine love. Yep, love. Thanks to everyone there for the wonderful work you do.

My mother has been there 3 times for extended stays for various health problems after being in the hospital. After leaving the hospital and getting transferred there it feels like checking in at the ritz carlton hotel!! The staff is happy and polite, and very doting on their patients. Each patient is treated with the utmost respect and compassion! They are just fininshing up on a beautiful remodel now. The physical therapy care is amazing. They walk her and do PT 3 times a day. They have activities, and the staff is so cheerful! She is really happy there, and takes the guilt totally away from me, having to keep her there, she will leave soon and we will miss the attention!

This would be amongst the hardest jobs I could imagine. Most of the staff are wonderful. A few could learn to smile. Some of the women attendants walk in the room and I can tell they resent what they are about to do. I just returned from there. One relative was in the same dirty pants he was wearing on Tuesday, three days ago. I bought him new pants but those have disappeared. His glasses were filthy. Previously his hearing aids were dead but I was told they changed the batteries. Not the case, the next person changed the batteries and cleaned the hearing aids - so we're back in business. How long did he sit in silence wondering what was going on around him? Well constantly actually - but in silence. Those hearing aids are important! I have a lot of experience with this place. My mom absolutely loved Independent Living. Its like a cruise ship. She had a great time. I'd call and she'd say "don't bother me - I'm playing cards with my friends." But the time came for Assisted Living. It is like a Motel 8. Not great but it will do. It was a very hard adjustment. Then the time comes for Skilled Nursing. I do not understand why they can't make those rooms just a little bigger. Why are the closets so small? Can't they have more than two showers a week? It breaks my heart to see residents in the hallway. "I need help!" I often hear. But they often don't have the staff to respond. It got to the point where I thought they should pay me - because I offer to help. What is really important - if you are shopping for a retirement home look beyond Independent Living. Ask to see Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing. Then move in with your kids. I keep telling mom that there is room in the basement with the ferrets --- only kidding, Mom! Actually we would have made room for her here and she'd be happier. I might be drinking more, but I'm sure she'd be happier. And my advice to the management of Continuing Life Communities that owns this place. Listen to your employees. Reward the good ones. Pay more. Get rid of those who resent changing diapers. Any my sincerest thanks to the great ones, Marion, Carlos, Thai and others. I've already started drinking so I forget a few names. It sure isn't easy getting old!
