This is not the place for everyone. My mother can be difficult. I thought her complaints were over stated until we had to move her and I had to deal with the administrative staff. [name removed] definitely had an issue with my mother and decided that they could not care for her. It was definitely a personality conflict. I asked several times what the process was to move out. And could we get her medication and prescriptions before we left, so she could be cared for until we established a new doctor. I received no help and no response on the procedures. The elevator was broken down when we were trying to move out , the prescriptions were not given to us, and their doctor refused to cooperate. When we moved her furniture, there was mold all over the wall. For 8 thousand dollars a month, I feel that the care was substandard. In her first month there, she got covid. I think if you are an active person and just want to be social and participate in the events there, it might be the place for you. I would be very careful if you are a private person and want to keep to your apartment. We have since moved her to a board and care facility. It's curious that another previous Bayshire person moved here because her husband found on the floor of her apartment. It's hard to find the right care for your loved ones. I'm writing this just to let you know that it's not the Brochure lifestyle that they promote. I've read several of these reviews, and I actually met a gal at the airport whose mother was there before they changed the name and said it was lovely.

Bayshire has been amazing with my mom! My mom is a positive and independent woman who opened up our flower shop in 1974, 50 years ago. She built the flower shop from the ground up, she was amazing. She now is in her twilight years and needing more assistance. It is not easy for her to accept help with day to day activities. The community and staff at Bayshire have been invaluable to us and to our mother. They care, love and help with her care everyday. We wouldn't be able to provide the level of care she needed and this is why she moved to Bayshire. We recommend to anyone that Bayshire is the answer to help care for your aging parents in a dignified and respectful way. Thank you to the staff at Bayshire for your love and care everyday!!!

My father has been at Bayshire for the past 5 years and over that time the wonderful staff has become his second family. I live close by so I am there often and am always greeted with a warm welcome. ALL of the front desk staff are so friendly and kind to visitors and the residents. Olah the Activity Director is amazing. He has actually been able to convince my dad to do more activities than he ever did at his previous facility. Olah also goes above and beyond to plan fabulous events for residents and their families to enjoy. My father has needed additional level of care recently. I am truly grateful to the Medical Staff especially Ariana and Pam for their guidance whenever I have a question. Ariana and Pam keep me informed and have made sure his caregivers are checking on him regularly. It's a blessing to be able to leave your loved one in a place where you know they are being well taken care of and their family loves visiting them!!!

Outstanding. 5 Star. That's how we would rate our experience at Bayshire"s Skilled Nursing Facility. My wife was admitted and stayed for 5 weeks of rehab after surgery for a fractured hip. Without exception, all of the staff (nurses, CNA's, administrators and support people) were very professional, courteous, respectful and very caring. A special shout out to our case manager Nicole who expertly controlled, coordinated and arranged all of the many elements of our stay, down to finest detail, and with perfect timing, efficiency and compassion. If there is ever a future need for skilled nursing, Bayshire would be first on our list.

Broke my hip and femur and was lucky to end up in Bayshire for rehab. The doctor and staff were first rate. And not just with me. I witnessed them treat the truly in-need with endless kindness and compassion -- I felt that I'd stumbled into a nest of angels. Special shout out to Dr. Mark Kyle who's knowledge and bedside manner calmed me though my worst days. And Grace, dedicated, loving and always smiling. Nealani from Social Services who made the overwhelming paperwork make sense. I would highly recommend Bayshire Carlsbad. Following my mothers surgery, I toured 5 facilities and chose Bayshire as my favorite for her short term stay and course of physical rehab. The people, the facility and how organized and quick they were in connecting with her case worker at the hospital made it an easy favorite! I spent the entire day with her for a week and watched nurse after nurse care for her with great attitudes and extending the TLC she needed following surgery and in pain. Everyone in our family had the same sentiments as they visited. From day 1 to checkout (almost 5 weeks later) this place did not disappoint.

My husband had a recent 2 month stay at Bayshire, Carlsbad and consequently I was there every day except one for 5-10 hours a day. After advocating as much as I could trying not to step on anyone's toes, my husband's med schedule was followed as best that the nurses could (it was an every 3 hour med schedule). Having witnessed the work that the staff does including nurses, CNAs, PT, OT Speech, kitchen/dining staff, entertainment gals, room cleaners, front desk and management, I can say that Bayshire is a well oiled machine! EVERYONE was amazing trying to accommodate all the patients (and caregivers like myself) on a daily basis. They took the time to teach me how to do what I would need to do once my husband came home. They were encouraging to all the patients lending a. helping hand, giving a hug or pat on the back, kidding with the people, laughing, and creating a positive environment. The staff has to deal with a lot of difficult situations. I only attended to my husband because I wanted to be there for him not because I was spying on the team and I spent whole days doing that running myself ragged! Imagine what the entire staff must do for many more patients than just one! And they did it with a smile regardless of how taxing it might have been or how tired they might have felt. I cried when I knew "we" were leaving. I exchanged numbers with a few of the staff and one CNA even came to our house just to say hi to my husband and to see how he was doing. Without a doubt, this is the absolute best place for your loved one to be at. I get why they were given 5 stars. I would give them 20!!!

My mother has been with Bayshire a FIVE STAR FACILITY in Carlsbad easily accessible from Carlsbad Village Dr at El Camino Real, for 18 months and is so happy that she moved here. Mom was at a very similar facility for 7.5 years in the Del Mar Heights area. This facility was 4 stars and slowly declined to two stars and then quickly declined to one star. Mom has loved Bayshire from the day she moved in. All the programs entertain her , the food is so much better than other places. Bayshire is very clean and very well cared for. The staff is VERY accessible and is kind. Mom needs the very reliable Bayshire shuttle that can take wheelchair folks to their medical appointments. Bayshire follows the state and county standards set for independent, AL, SNF and memory care. They have been reasonable and efficient about following protocols for COVID. During our time, the Executive Director has changed but all the staff is still here. All the ED have shared their numbers and emails and communicates with families. I recommend Bayshire for their services to their residents, the kindness to guests and families and mostly the respect for all the residents. All of the management teams business cards are at the reception counter, I'm so grateful my mom has moved here. Mgr nurse Pam has been very accessible with moms needs and the AL manager nurse and staff are always available in the health office and answer their phone. The receptionist is VERY friendly and can help direct me to solutions when I need help. Parking up front can be limited. Call the receptionist and they will tell you about optional parking areas.

I first became aware of this places existence when I had woken up after having been hospitalized from a stroke in addition to some vascular procedures that had been done. One moment I was in docs office next I was in a comfortable hospital bed enjoying a great breakfast. I wasn’t aware of the level of true professionalism that even existed in facilities like these. I am at somewhat at a disadvantage because I use Bayshire as a means of rating anywhere I’m in a position of NEEDING a team of truly devoted, knowledgeable, group of human beings to give me the care I need to recover from a significant medical event. My wife, Sheryl (Room 174) was so fortunate to be attended to by the incredible staff at this facility. She had become infected with sepsis following a kidney stone related infection. Her condition was one of extreme weakness and not being able to take care of herself in an independent fashion. Thanks to Dr. Mann, Sylvia Delarosa, Tessa, Shay, Lori, and everyone else at this incredible facility, she was able to resume her normal lifestyle in a safe and consistent fashion. While there for 5 weeks, she was treated with the utmost degree of courtesy, genuine concern, professionalism, and superb patient rapport. The best word to describe this facility is EXCEPTIONAL. I would like to recommend this assisted living facility to anyone who is looking for a safe, clean and caring place . We moved both my parents into Brookdale Carlsbad in 2015, after touring several facilities in the area. After our first visit with Deanna Meier (who was so great and easy to talk to), we were impressed with the caring staff, great food, and warm feeling of community. I can easily say my parents life changed for the better after they moved in.They began right away eating three meals in the dining room and making friends. Everyone at Brookdale was so helpful in getting them settled and involved, with the right balance of attention while still allowing them to have autonomy. My mom was 92 and my dad 87. My husband and I live in Montana so we were especially worried about the care they would receive. The staff kept in constant contact with us about their medication, activities, and health concerns. We visited my folks several times as did other family members. We were all treated with kindness and courtesy. Overall, the care we witnessed for my folks and other residents was good. Sasha Hightower, the director was always available for us and called us directly on several occasions regarding questions we had or suggestions on ways to make my mom and dad more comfortable. After several months there my dad was moved to the memory care unit, so that they could assist him more and keep a closer watch on him. The staff made this transition as easy as possible for my dad. Ana Briones, the memory care Manager was especially helpful to us and made such a great effort to keep my dad happy and comfortable, which was not always easy. My dad passed away in Jan.2017, and the staff once again was so helpful in his last days, (even checking on him at the hospital). My mom enjoyed several activities at the home. She also got her hair done weekly in the on site salon, and loved to visit with the office staff. She enjoyed the daily snacks and treating guests to a meal in the dinning room.We were able to coordinate a birthday party for her 94th birthday a week after my dad died, and the kitchen and wait staff took special care to make it a wonderful celebration. My mom passed away in June of 2017. Because we had hospice in place (she had had a series of strokes 5 weeks earlier, ), she was able to pass away peacefully in her room. The nursing staff and aides were so sweet with her and helpful to us during the week she was dying. We also had caregivers for my mom from Golden Care in Carlsbad who came in two or three times a week during her entire time at Brookdale to help my mom with correspondence and small tasks, and just to be a friend and companion. I feel like this was a key ingredient in helping her to thrive at Brookdale, and would highly recommend this company. They were able to provide the extra companionship my mom needed. The staff at Brookdale was great, from Michael the Driver, Oula the Activities Director, Sasha the Director, to Henry in the dining room, and Ivy in Nursing, to Doris at the front desk, as well as all the other great aides, med techs and office staff that work there, and I feel like there is real concern from the top down to make all of the residents feel at home, and to work hard to ensure that they are well cared for. While there were some things that fell between the cracks here and there with communication, and we had some issues with my moms care in skilled nursing there, we know that overall Brookdale was a good fit for my parents and we are so thankful that they got to spend their last years in such a nice facility with people who cared for them in such a loving and kind way.

When a crisis occurred in my 100-year-old mom's living situation, we were suddenly in urgent need of a new residence for her. We visited several senior homes in the Oceanside/Carlsbad/Vista area and chose the Brookdale Carlsbad. (We also liked the Brookdale Oceanside, but Mom grew up in Carlsbad and liked that connection.) Her then current living situation was getting much worse by the day, so we needed an immediate solution. The remarkable Brookdale Carlsbad staff could not have been more responsive. The Executive Director got her settled even before we'd moved her things. The nursing staff were quick to get everything in order for her meds, and everyone was kind, supportive and solved our desperate problem, going out of their way to be helpful. From the executive director and front office staff, to the dining room servers, maintenance office and housekeepers, the Brookdale Carlsbad was wonderful. They have been a life-saver (literally) that has given our whole family full confidence that she will be well cared for. We can't praise the Brookdale Carlsbad highly enough. Exceptional!

My mom has lived at Brookdale Carlsbad for almost a year now and the care she receives and the staff are wonderful. Today my family had Easter brunch with her and the food and service were excellent. Even my sister-in-law, who by her own admission is a very picky eater, finished her plate. It was obvious that Marco, the chef at Brookdale, had put a lot of thought and effort into the menu. Everyone at Brookdale is so thoughtful and caring and I feel very comfortable having my mom live there.

I would like to recommend this facility highly. I have been a patient here for over 4 months. Sylvia and her team, and her assistants Judy, Adrina and Ray have the most knowledgeable and experienced group of nurses and CNAs that I have ever come across.They are compassionate and empathetic to your condition and needs. Randys team of Physical and Occupational therapist are also highly trained and experienced and help you right through your full recovery. From the cleaning staff, to the laundry staff, everyone will go out of there way to assist you in getting you back on your feet. The reason I feel so strongly about this place is that prior to my stay at Brookdale, I stayed at another SNF in Carlsbad and contracted 5 different strains of infection, which led to several unnecessary operations, which prolonged my recovery by months. So if you or your loved one needs care, do yourself a favor and consider Brookdale. I would sincerely like to thank each and everyone there for all they have done for me!

Both of my parent are residents at Brookdale Carlsbad. I feel that a review is warranted based on the unmatched level of care and caring that my parents receive on a daily, hourly and minute basis. My dad has stage 4 Parkinsons disease and mother has a history of strokes. The level of care required is high for both. Brookdale comes through in shining colors for the care of my parents. Brookdale is a warm and caring environment. Patty at the nurses station feels like she is one of our family members. Eli is a caregiver that manuevers my dad with ease and both of my parents have mentioned his name multiple times as someone they feel is essential to their care. I am literally tearing up as I write this because of how important he is to their care. Ivey and Sabrina are always informing me of anything my parents need. The communication is awesome! Connie, Henry, Elena and the entire wait staff in the dining hall treat every resident with respect and care. They deliver high quality food with a smile and are always accomodating to our requests when we have family visiting. My parents absolutley devour and love the food! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Wesley is one of the nicest people I have ever met and is very proficient at getting his job done. Sasha and Doris and both Tinas in the managment office are just amazing. They are heartfelt and very attentive and sensitive to anything you need. The feeling of warmness starts with them and trickles down to the entire staff. I have witnessed nothing but compassionan and caring at Brookdale. I dont know where they get the personnel they do but keep up the absolutely amazing job that you all do for the residents. And if this review sounds too amazing, I can assure you it is not. If you want your parents well taken care of look no further. I think the care can best be summed up from a quote from my brother who was visting my parents a few months ago. He said I have witnessed the staff being so nice to mom and dad that I almost feel like they are putting on a show. But I have watched and heard when they dont know I am listening and they are genuinely nice and caring all the time. It is heartfelt and amazing! I only give this place 5 stars because more are not available!!!

My mother moved into Brookdale about 2 months ago and she absolutely loves it. The staff is wonderful and they have been so attentive to her needs. My mother has MS and is in a wheelchair 100% of her day and the staff has been terrific caring for her and assisting her in every way they can to make sure she is comfortable and safe. I cant say enough good things about this community and the staff. I highly recommend it. Jackie one of the staff members has been exceptional with my mother as have the other staff members such as Olah and all the others. They have gotten her to play cards and participate in activities she hasnt done in years. Thank you.

This is a great place for my mom. They warmly embrace the residents and make them feel at home from the minute you walk in. All of the staff seems to enjoy being there, which is unlike other assisted living facilities we have tried. Mom really likes the chef, who tries to interact with the residents and find out their lives and dislikes. The activity director makes a great effort to tailor their activities to the interests and abilities of the residents. The nursing staff is caring and listens to the residents. We are pleased that mom is enjoying life again.

Sasha manages a fantastic team committed to providing the best living experience for their residents, and the Skilled Nursing Facility has a brilliant nursing and care staff overseen by the Director Of Nursing, Sylvia, and Social Worker, Adrina. Additionally, recent renovations and room makeovers mean that the community is as aesthetically pleasing at it is a wonderful environment to recover and live. I would trust the team here with my own familys care and would not hesitate to recommend it to other families in search of Skilled, Memory Care or Residential Living!

My mother had been at Brookdale Carlsbad (formally Emeritus) for almost 3 years. Her attitude initially was very negative and critical but with the encouragement and kind interest of all of the staff (food services, activity director, housekeeping and health techs), she turned more positive and warm toward others than I have I have seen in years! The staff knew her interests, which activities she would enjoy, her favorite foods, and looked for opportunities to engage her in conversation. The same continued in her stay in Skilled Nursing after a visit to the hospital. After her recent passing, many staff went out of their way to offer condolensces and tell me stories of their interactions with my mother. Thank you, all!

Recently we put my mom and dad in Brookdale Carlsbad. They are both 97 years old. A friend of mine had told me to check this place out so I did. As soon as I walked in the door I knew in my heart that this would be great for them. The office staff was fantastic in working with us financially to make sure they had a place here. Once they got in there room things only got better. There room is just the right size and its very bright with alot of windows and they love it. Now that they are here I wondered if things would change but they havent at all. All of the staff go out of there way to make them feel at home and welcome here. Im here 2 times a day every day and I see alot that goes on and I have never felt more comfortable about having my parents here. And they have always made me feel welcome. There are many other things I would love to share but I would take to long.
