Our mother lived at Bressi for about 9 months, until her recent passing at age 99. What a wonderful facility--from deeply caring staff members, fantastic activities, flawlessly clean housekeeping and laundry, and an attentive nursing staff. We are so grateful to everyone who made our mother's last few months so meaningful, safe, and happy! Special thanks to Carmen, the brilliant activities director, and Darren, the nurse on site, and to all those wonderful, compassionate staff members who cared for Ceci. Truly, Bressi is a refuge of loving care.

In the long, difficult and painful process of searching for memory care placement for my dear mother, ActivCare Bressi Ranch seemed at first to be just what we were looking for. I felt like I could breathe easier at the prospect of a program where she might be able to thrive as a high functioning resident. Everything was going smoothly and falling into place with the deposit, paperwork, and evaluation. However, the day after her positive evaluation, I received a call from the director that they decided not to accept my mother with no explanation. I rarely give negative reviews, but I wish ActivCare Bressi Ranch had the professionalism and compassion to provide me with clarification and guidance moving forward in seeking care for our mother during this vulnerable and challenging season of our lives.

My dad moved into Bressi Ranch almost a year ago after a decline in his mental health. The staff has been extremely supportive and compassionate. On my regular visits, I consistently observe the care givers treating each resident with kindness and respect. I'm impressed with the sensitivity and authentic concern the entire staff demonstrates.

My mother has been at Bressi Ranch ActivCare since February of 2020. I am always impressed with the staff. I absolutely love Carmen, who has been leading the activities, since my mother arrived. She is kind and very engaging. Caregivers are well trained and so calm in their approach to the different needs of the residents. They truly are the experts in memory care. My mothers room and bathroom are always clean. The facility is kept up with fresh paint and seasonal flowers in the outside patios. I was especially impressed during covid , that the staff worked, as a team, with strong policies to keep residents safe. I so appreciate the nursing staff, in their consistent approach to my mother's care. I always get a call back from the LVN, if I call with a question. Jason the director, is approachable, and supportive!! I did have my mother at another facility in Cardiff and decided to move her, as the staff was not trained well in memory care and had terrible housekeeping issues. At Bressi, I love that there is a park across the street from the facility, where I can take my mom out for walks. I also appreciate that Activ Care has such lovely patios and lots of space for my mother to explore. I am so happy to continue to have my mother in such a nice home.

I learned about ActivCare at Bressi Ranch long before my mother needed their care, from family friends who had moved a loved one to ActivCare and said it was the best of all the places and staff they had interviewed in San Diego North County. I completely agree that ActivCare is the best. I learned there is a huge difference between memory care facilities. ActivCare specializes in all levels of memory care, so their management and staff have the experience, skills and insights to provide the right care and tailor the care to help each resident thrive in terms of physical well-being, eating, mental stimulation and happiness. My mother needed help with eating and sometimes drinking. The ActivCare staff gave my mother the time, attention and encouragement she needed to try to keep her nutrition and weight up. The chef and staff were able to create a tailored diet for my mother with pureed foods, thickened liquids, nutritional shakes that my mother loved, with a variety that kept my mother from being bored by needing to switch to a pureed diet. ActivCare has a commitment to help keep residents hydrated, and uses snacks and drinks, as well a variety of mealtime drinks, to make this a priority. This was essential to me and my father given that at my mother's previous memory care facility, she ended up hospitalized twice due to dehydration. I can't say enough about the true loving attitude by the management and staff toward my mother and other residents. During meals, the management and administrative staff - who I got to know very well - often helped feed and chat with residents, knew who each resident was as well as family members, kept the conversation going with personal attention -- all while the excellent caregivers also gave each resident plenty of time and such personal service - really knew each person's likes, dislikes, hobbies, behavior and family story. My mother, who was usually very cheerful, loved talking to or even waving with the caregivers and management. My mother also commented frequently how beautiful the ActivCare facility was - she loved looking at the flowers and paintings. Another huge difference between ActivCare and the previous memory care experience we had at another facility is that ActivCare does have a nurse on staff, visiting doctors, and is proactive about any health issues in the residents -- whether it is something they can care for, or whether they need to call the family member to get an outside provider involved. (Not all places do - some medical staff are only administrative, not hands-on - we learned the hard way at another facility). When it became time for my mother to begin hospice care while staying at ActivCare, the experience was seamless. Everyone at ActivCare was extremely kind to me, as the adult daughter who was handling day-to-day decisions and care. My elderly father was still alive when my mother moved into ActivCare and we visited my mother daily until my father suddenly became hospitalized and passed within two weeks. It was very difficult trying to help my mother through this while I was also grieving. I can't say enough about how the ActivCare management, and every staff member including nurses, med techs, caregivers, housekeepers and front desk personnel treated me like family, and were very concerned about how I was doing in the midst of losing my father, and trying to keep my mother calm (she didn't fully understand what happened to my father, but did know he was no longer visiting). I know this sounds dramatic, but it is true. When my father was on his deathbed at the hospital, he told me, "The best thing we did is get your mother into ActivCare." He was able to pass knowing that my mother (his wife of nearly 76 years) was in great hands with people who truly cared.

Our 95+ yo grandmother was very well cared for at Active Care Bressi Ranch over several years. The team was thoughtful and caring. Grandma particularly enjoyed the activities (thank you!), and there were always bingo or bowling, or singing or movies to keep the guests engaged. Management and the team did their best to keep the facility clean and safe, even during COVID. Food was freshly prepared. They have a private dining room so that families could come in and share a meal with their loved ones. There is a beautiful inner courtyard where guests and their families can walk outside. Grandma made several good friendships at ACBR, and as an extended family, we found a team who took really good care. A family member has recently brought Grandma home (shes now 99.75 years old!) and while we are sad to leave ACBR, know it is the right time for grandma to be with family on a daily basis. I highly recommend ACBR for high quality memory care in North County San Diego. Wed evaluated several other communities, and ACBR was and is among the best.
