My friend has lived in the memory care unit of Elegance Berkeley since February of 2022 and since then I have seen many changes and shortages of staff and observed many things that need improvement. I do not believe that the staff are highly trained and informed as advertised. There have been problems with personal property disappearing and his room not being cleaned properly. I've made unsuccessful attempts to talk to the staff about my concerns but nothing gets resolved. There is a big lack of communication at Elegance and lots of room for improvement!!!!

Thank you Elegance Berkeley! My grandmother was in another community much farther away and in-and-out of skilled nursing. We wanted to move her closer to me and fast because she was declining rapidly due to isolation. That's when we found Elegance. Molly Gleason-Kodama, the Marketing Director, went above and beyond to tour me, keep in constant contact, and get things moving. She got her Executive Director, Robert Coe, involved with the skilled nursing facility so we could expedite the paperwork needed. Molly and Robert made what could have been a very difficult process so seamless for our family. We appreciate all of their efforts and highly recommend this community to others. It is physically very beautiful and has a great vibe. The staff are very dedicated, knowledgeable, and kind. Grandma has been there about a month now and she is so happy and doing much better. She loves her room, the activities, and we are so relieved! Thank you, Elegance Berkeley!

Memory Care floor was well intentioned, but woefully understaffed as of March 2023.

The building was built couple of years ago and boasts very attractive, elegant furniture and decor. The main room is very spacious with a grand piano. There are events and musical entertainment. The courtyard is lovely. The entire place is surrounded by open space with trees and birds. Elegance Berkeley is lucky to have many staff members who are very warmth, friendly, and attentive to the needs of the residents.

This place has been great for my mom! They respect her, the food is nice, they have great music shows and intelligent/interesting activities. My mom is memory care and we are happy with how she is treated with respect.

My parent and I had been looking for the right community in the Berkeley area for a while when we finally found the folks at Elegance. After touring the beautiful new building and meeting the leadership team, my parent decided that it was a great fit and was one of the first to move in. She has an amazing view of the San Francisco skyline and Golden Gate Bridge. The entire staff is extremely friendly and helpful to our entire family. Thanks to their patience and persistence, my parent is starting to get more involved in classes and other group activities, something she's shied away from in recent years. Other highlights at Elegance Berkeley are regular live music with local bands, social events for the entire family, and really excellent food.

Elegance Berkeley has the best staff, engagement, fun environment, and care that I've found in the SF/East Bay area. My family member entered Elegance when it opened in September 2022. Every day she has activities geared to her abilities and paced to match her energy. The community has arts, exercise, live music (which she really loves), karaoke (ditto), purposeful social hours, and a host of other fun activities. The staff are all experienced in memory support and wellness. They all engage with my family member with unconditional love and support. When you look for a community - whether it's for Memory Support or for Assisted Living, visit Elegance Berkeley and watch the engagement of residents in activities that they enjoy, see the love and interaction between the community members and team members, notice the socializing and the demonstrated acceptance/support for everyone regardless of condition. All the pretty brochures are just promises. This place really delivers. I'm so happy that my family member joined the Elegance Berkeley community.
