My husband (85 years old) suffered from an unavoidable illness, dementia, and spent nearly a year moving between hospitals (ER), nursing centers, and retirement homes (where he currently resides). This was a first-of-its-kind experience, and it was incredibly difficult to cope and navigate the entire process. However, sometimes, the warmth of people, as we all know, provided strength. Then, for the final two months of his recovery, I stayed at LaPalMa Nursing Center. He underwent emergency surgery for a broken femur and was transferred to a nursing home, and the hospital gave him the choice between SunMar and LaPalma Nursing Center. Recently, a friend from church visited me while I was hospitalized at La Palma Center. She praised the center for its excellent care, almost to the point of being annoying. She then told me to take a business card with her when I left. She simply said, "I'm Tina, the Korean manager." This was just a month ago. I happened to find her business card. I called her, but she didn't answer, so I left a message. A short while later, she called back. I explained, and she said she'd make arrangements soon. She was transferred around 4 p.m. When I first arrived, I felt a bit lost in communication (in a different language), but after a while, I felt like I quickly adapted, thanks to the Korean staff's thorough and consistent approach to each task. The nurses, activities, recreation, worship, and even my minor questions and requests were handled as quickly as possible, as if they were my own family. I was truly grateful for the excellent work they did. Tina (the Korean program director) seemed especially dedicated to her duties. Even when I asked for help late at night, outside of working hours, they would do whatever it took to get me in touch with the person in charge. If not, they would often resolve the issue themselves. Their enthusiasm was truly exceptional. Looking at all the staff, I was proud of the polite manners and sincerity of our Korean colleagues. I would recommend them to anyone without hesitation. I sincerely hope and support the continued success of our Korean staff and the continued growth of the center. Thank you! I love you all.

My parents resided at La Palma nursing facility recently for 3 months. It has been a truly wonderful experience. The staff was very professional yet kind and understanding. It’s not simple having to place your elderly parents in nursing care but I was reassured and witnessed that they were in excellent hands! I can’t thank enough the great staff. Thank you all for having made our difficult journey so much lighter!

I truly believe that the Korean Worship and Praise Program at La Palma Nursing has been a great blessing. Thanks to the teachers’ loving care and devotion, I have seen my mother’s dementia symptoms improve little by little. I am deeply thankful for the kindness and care shown to my mother and our family.

My husband spent 2 mos at La Palma. This staff has been a blessing. I could no longer care for my husband at home and I needed to find an assured living facility after he received rehab. The social services director walked me through all the steps I needed to take to make it happen. The place is always clean, my husband loves his aids and had a way better time at La Palma than he would have had at home. The physical therapy team really motivated him. So happy with this place.

My 74 YO brother is going in today 5 PM, some reviews are bad and unpleasant so will go visit tomorrow and see. My dad was poorly treated at the place he was at and died from a untreated UTI and days later the home was under new management so no one was held accountable.

My Mother-in-Law was in this facility for a big chunk of a year while she was being treated for cancer. The facility was very clean and the staff genuinely cared about her struggles. I was always updated on her condition or needs, which helped me feel she was well taken care of. When I visited my mother-in-law, she was happy and would tell me about the activities she did, the nurses she loved to joke with and that they would sing songs with her. I am so very grateful for the care they gave my mother-in-law since I was not able to be there as much as I wanted to be. My sincere thank you to Paula, the administrator, Joy, the director of nursing and the entire staff.
