We had a lovely visit at the Victorian as my mother is looking for her next move in life. Bruno was a wonderful, caring host and answered all our questions. He made my mom feel very special and welcomed. The entire experience and conversations we had with Bruno calmed a lot of my mother’s anxiety about this transition. From the moment we walked through the doors until we left we felt at home.

I have been a resident for the last 7 months and enjoyed this company facility very much. Becky and her staff work extremely hard. In particular I would like to recognize Alisha Pente who has been my room cleaner and sometime server in the dining lounge. Alisha has the appreciation of all the patrons she serves. You can see this by their reactions at their table. I highly recommend the services covered by the Victoria at McKenzie to anyone who is considering placement. The residents here enjoy the experience of three meals a day, weekly room cleaning and a busy schedule of activities offered.

Felt great acceptance moving into the community. It made it easy for me to adjust. An area of potential improvement is around staffing turnover. The young students in the dining room are so helpful and friendly. Tommy went out of his way to make me feel welcome on my early days here. Amelia is pleasant and helpful, as well. No complaints with any of the hard-working staff.

They always decorate everything beautifully for special occasions. Thank you for the many fun activities they organize for entertainment. Thank you to the kitchen staff. My partner and I put our name into a draw and won a lunch here. We were greeted by Bruno, who was very kind and welcoming. He sat us at our table and gave us a little tour of the area. The food was amazing as well as the service. Though we are not seniors yet, we thought that the Victorian at McKenzie would be a lovely place to live in the future! Special thank you to one of the ambassadors, Marilyn, who came to chat and welcomed us to the residence after our meal.

First I want to start on a positive note, Gheena was wonderful as well as the residents themselves. We were trying to find the right fit for my father who was diagnosed with dementia, Matt met with us and told us about the trial option for situations like ours. We thought it was a great opportunity to try my dad in independent living with a bit of extra support. It became clear that this wasn’t the best fit as the surrounding was very unfamiliar to him. We gave our notice for a week later, as Matt told us that he could leave at anytime during the trial. Then there was an incident that made us need to take him out the next day. To our surprise we got an email saying we were in a 3 month locked contract. We had never received the contract, during signing they had put the wrong unit number and said we would get an updated one ( we never got either) . Yes there was fine print that said 3 month lease when looking at the copy with the wrong unit but as we were walked through it while signing we understood it as a trial we had gone over this many times in discussion. So on a very hard day of moving my dad I had to negotiate to pay only $2000 ( when we thought it would be none) instead of the $7500 ( approx) they were wanting us still to pay , and they kept referencing the legal aspect of the contract that we were locked into ( with the wrong unit number etc). Also the person who we signed with was no longer working there so we couldn’t even have a discussion about it all. It was very apparent that the business of this was more important than ethical conduct.

My Mom lives at the Victorian on McKenzie and really enjoys living here. My Mom really thinks that her waiter Joey is a very nice young man who is very kind and goes the extra mile to help however he can. He always has a smile on his face. Cal says thank you Joey.

My Mom is at the Victorian, Mackenzie. Her suite is very bright and meets her needs well. The meals, recreation and care offered are top notch. The management are always helpful and professional in their dealings. This has been a great move for her.

I have been here for one year and can highly recommend the Victorian at McKenzie. The staff are great to deal with and I've made a lot of good friends. The activities are lots of fun and the meals are delicious. When comparing the Victorian to other assisted living facilities, I am very happy that I chose to move in here. All the staff are great, in particular Raquel who fills in where needed and is also cheerful.

I enjoy living in my roomy ground-floor studio suite with easy acces to the beautiful outdoors. My dog, Tiva, and I love our daily walks on the sidewalk around the building with abundant trees, flowers, and birdsong, and frequent encounters with my friends and neighbors. I appreciate especially Raquel who often cleans my suite and serves my table in the dining roomin the dining room.

My mom has lived in the community for almost 10 years & has made some good friends & appreciates the care all the staff provides: Becky, Doug, Jenna, Matt, Ghinna, the servers & cleaners & all the island health care aids. Mom especially loves the Bingo run by one of the residents & Horse racing. She finds it too difficult to go on the outings but they have those too.

My daughter, granddaughter and I visited and toured this lovely facility yesterday. Matt has a wealth of information and knowledge about choosing and navigating the process of applying for assistance for a loved one. We found him to be patient in listening to our needs and concerns and at no time did we feel pressured into choosing this facility. Judging from the happy residents, I believe they have no problem in keeping this place full. I would be happy to recommend the Victorian to anyone considering a retirement community, even in the not-so-near future. Make sure Matt Silva is in the office when you come, as he will make you feel like you are sitting in your living room speaking to a trusted friend. Many thanks, Matt for your kindness.

When my Dad passed away I needed to move my Mother into Assisted Living. I called the Victorian at McKenzie. What a gem. An awesome community with incredible amenities and staff. Everyone was so friendly and Mat (Mateus) was awesome. My Mother is moving there next month and we couldn't be happier. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Today I was invited for lunch and a tour of this Independent Living location. While it may not on my agenda at the moment, it was time well spent. I was very impressed with the cleanliness and cheerfulness of the staff. Considering the cost of living in the area versus the services offered here; I feel the monthly rental fees are great due. Thank you ,Rebecca for the time spent with me today. The pride you showed me throughout the luncheon and tour was refreshing!

My mom and I went for a viewing at the Victorian at McKenzie and we were both pleasantly excited with what we saw. The building was lovely both inside and out The dining room was very nicely set up and anyone would enjoy having their meals in these surroundings. The staff were lovely and full of information. The rooms were a good size and my mom and I both think she would be very happy there. We look forward to meeting with Becky again.

My mother moved to BC in 2020 and The Victorian staff were welcoming and very considerate as Mom transitioned from living in her own home to retirement home living. The delicious meals, amenities and housekeeping complimented a very comfortable living environment. We are grateful that Mom was able to call The Victorian home!

Lovely warm community. Interior of facility is very cheerful with well-appointed rooms, great windows, nice grounds with a walking trail. Staff is cheerful and friendly. Food has had its ups and downs over the last couple of years but is improving. Good value retirement living. My mother lived here for 2 1/2 years and enjoyed many aspects of living here.

As a retired RN who specialized in gerontology, I knew what I wanted for my mother. My mother has lived at the Victorian on McKenzie now for one year. She has a lovely room, safe home, friendly efficient cleaning staff and maintenance staff. I have lunch at the Victorian about once a week. The meals are delicious and varied, and served by polite and friendly staff. My mom enjoys the bus trips and had said how nice the bus driver is. Lots of activities to choose from . The activity coordinator is creative and sets an inviting tone. Management staff are approachable and helpful. My mother has a quality life at the Victorian and I and our family enjoy visiting and when we leave we know she is in a safe and caring environment.

My Grandparents moved in years ago, it was a great place. Over time it was sold a few times, and every time the food quality and other things went down hill. Probably cost cutting to maximize Profits. I'm not sure if it's still privately run or the government own it. Definitely not worth the money but that's no different anywhere you choose.

I find it hard to believe that a widow would lose their significant other and a month later be expected to move from their apartment they once shared to a much smaller place. And on such a lower income now as well. Our friend lives there and has become friends with everyone and now the struggle is real. It's sad to watch really and I wish that somehow things could be different for them
