A living hell. Horrible. My family member, B, hasn't been given a shower in OVER A WEEK. They tell B they "don't have enough staff." I've been on the phone with B many times when aids come in - it's usually VERY upsetting to hear: >Some are very disrespectful, rude, and occasionally can get straight-up nasty. >One time I heard an aide talk very roughly toward B. When I asked B if that aide had ever been aggressive physically, B said, "I don't want to talk about it." >B understands B's meds better than the nurse's aids do. Yet they charge B thousands for medication "management." >They interrupt B when B's trying to speak, they don't have the time or patience to let B speak. >And that's just the tip of the iceberg. There were protests about mistreatment of residents: neglect, inappropriate medical attention, medication mismanagement, poor nutrition, and more. >I "saw" these things when on the phone with B: nurses confused about meds, neglect (not getting changed, showered, etc.) >They were charging patients crazy amounts of money for services they weren't providing. (still are?) >They owe around $643,000 in unreported taxes. >They are $1.5 to $2.5 million in debt because of criminal financial schemes. >They ask city of Homer residents to donate money to them - what nerve! The director said, "The community hasn't been super generous with giving us funds." They don't care for the residents, they don't pay all their taxes, then ask local residents for money! These issues were brought up to the board and multiple board meetings attended by many local Homer residents. The latest director said those things are going to be addressed. That was last year. But nothing has changed for B. B still experiences neglect, medication mismanagement, terrible nutrition, disrespect, and bullying. B still sits in dirty Depends for hours because they "don't have enough staff" to change B regularly. B still has to ask repeatedly for even a weekly shower. Expired lumpy milk was served last week causing at least one resident vomit. But, they continue to clean B out financially for living in their "hellhole."

To whom it may concern: We appreciate all that you do for our seniors, but this I have a wonderment about. I do see that Mr. Walker had a luncheon at your facility - what a nice thing to do, except that as any person running for office would know - all that is done in a public arena is a type of fund raiser. I am a senior and would hope that your administration would be of trustworthy standing...therefore as the people of the nursing home would think as well. So, if you have gone the extra mile for Mr Walker, I pray that as others who are running for office in this district and our state request a time or luncheon, they would be shown favor as well. This is an encouragement for all public facilities - that way we all can have the option to receive the information given, and to search it out.
