I've been a resident of Ya-Po-Ah Terrace since March 2024 and have been very comfortable and pleased with my studio apartment, the building in general, the services and the staff. I must note in particular that the management does an excellent job communicating on matters regarding the relevant activities that go into maintaining the comfort and safety of the building. For example, as I write this review, I am awaiting building staff that will be checking the fire alarm system sensor in my apartment today. I was notified of this inspection around a week ago, in writing, and based on my past experience, assuming there are no issues with my alarm sensor, this job will only require 5 minutes or so.

I moved into the newly remodeled YaPoAh Terrace Apartments in early 2020. I couldn't be happier with the way that staffmembers, at every level, do their part to ensure that residents are comfortable, informed, safe, and having fun. Within HUD guidelines, they have made living at YaPoAh feel like First Class. I am particularly impressed with management's ability to remain professional, and yet communicate with individual residents on a personal level. Seniors typically have high expectations and YaPoAh Terrace delivers.

Every one in the office is very friendly and willing to answer any questions. No matter how many times I asked the same ones move in day was a little complicated. One elevator was down so we ended up waiting a long time to go up and down. Thankfully I only had furniture but it was still not as hard as I thought it was going to be because everyone who lives in this building was very kind, caring, compassionate. I've been here 2 months now and so happy to finally be home. It may take a long time for me to remember everybody's name, but nobody minds if I ask them more than once or twice or three times. So I'm really having a good time getting to know people. It's such a beautiful place. I love sitting outside in the garden in the shade in the sun. Just breathing in all the sense of the flowers and vegetables that everyone has planted here and they take such incredibly good care of their gardens

I love Ya-Po-Ah Terrace! I just moved here this past October. It was the best decision. This isn’t just an apartment building, it’s a community of lovely, friendly, caring neighbors. The administration is extremely professional, kind, thoughtful, and caring. Ashley and Kathleen are the cornerstone for the incredible atmosphere of serenity and joy. Renee is always happy to help with anything you need. She is amazing. The building, apartments, grounds and gardens are amazingly well maintained. It is a clean, comfortable, safe and happy place to live. The beautiful flower gardens and community gardens are phenomenal. Pure joy to sit on the patio and enjoy spending time with friends, family and neighbors. Once a month you will receive an itinerary for the up coming events and a news bulletin. There are so many activities every day. You can be as involved as you like or not involved at all. It is hard not to be involved because everyone is so welcoming and it’s fun! Thank you for making this retirement community the best it could possibly be!

After taking a tour and realizing how clean, safe, and well-run YaPoAh is, I filled out the paperwork and waited. The list was crowded, but I finally got the call my number was up and I could move in immediately. With built-in community--an array of painters, writers, musicians, and multi-media artisans--beautiful garden, excellent work-out equipment, yummy meals served twice a day (if you don't feel like cooking), it's such a pleasure to live here. You have the privacy of your own space, but a variety of social events to participate in. A big draw for me was the advocates in the office to help you with whatever you need, and with a smile. They schedule agencies to come in and help newbies traverse Medicare, hold vaccination days, and offer rides to grocery stores and fun outings--scenic drives, concerts, restaurants, baseball games, etc. It's not just a job to management but a calling for the three-women power team consisting of Ashley, Kathleen, and Renee. They treat the residents like we're family. It was well worth the wait to get in, and one of the best decisions I've ever made. It truly feels like home. I can't recommend YaPoAh highly enough!

I've been living here for over a year. It is the best low income senior living apartment complex in the Eugene area. That being said, this week there is going to be an inspection by the "financial institution" and we, the residents have only been notified of the day, not if our apartment has been chosen or not, nor the time of day if we are chosen. Doesn't this violate the landlord/ tenant law in which a landlord must give a 24 hour notice? It feels more like prisoners/ warden relationship. Keep us on our toes and insecure. If not for this type of inspection I might give this place a higher rating.

It is a nice place to live. I have no complaints yet! Was on the waiting list almost 2 years. And was offered a studio apartment. Was not allowed to see it in advance. But was able to scale down belongs after a while. Finally got a parking spot in main parking lot after 7 months of parking in the gravel pit parking lot. It is on the other side of the gardens and pet yard. They allow animals. Smaller dogs and cats. My Bella is enjoying inner actions with the other small dogs. And the humans too. "But" there is always a but! Sometimes there are some who have disagreements and spats between them. Management will stick their nose in and try to calm it down. Best bet is to be an adult and work it out yourselfs. But if not feel free to tattle. There are very small studios, the ones by the garbage chute. And then the next studios up are at the front angles around the middle of each floor. There are full size studios that kind of have separate areas for the kitchen with apartment size refrigerator and stove/oven. An area for your living space, about 16'x14' with 3 very large windows. A nice big walk in closet and a shower in the bathroom. Then you have an alcove studio. It is a L shaped room 25'long with 5 large windows and an joining kitchen. With walk-in closet and shower bathroom. They also have one bedroom apartments but they are for couple's. They have programs for your individual needs. Like they will come and say good morning at 10a.m. a good nite at 10p.m. You must hang a needle point tag on your outside door handle by 10p.m. and bring it inside by 10a.m. if you don't they will knock on your door to check on you. There is a laundry room and cafeteria on the second floor. A library and game room and even a dance floor for those who still enjoy cutting a rug. They have over 80 security cameras “ throughout the complex so is very safe and secure. Ashley sees all!!! Two elevators, but you still have to wait sometimes. All in all it is a safe and enjoyable place to live. Oh, and they even have a beauty shop and small store. To buy things you may need but don't want to go to the big stores.

I have been here about five weeks after living in Deadwood and caring for my mom for 14 years and I am beyond Thrilled. I spent a couple of years in Monroe after my mom passedin a 40 foot RV and it was a struggle on a few different levels with crazy high utility bills and trying to keep from freezing to death in the winter, short showers, and of course being many miles from everything. I have never had central air and this Is just wonderful, no utility bill, 20 minute showers and located downtown with easy access to everything I need. Another big plus is being next to the bike trails and I use them a lot. I have an alcove apartment facing Skinner’s Butte on the 12th floor and I got very lucky ending up here. The staff is fantastic and it’s a great to be around people that like their jobs and respect and Genuinely like all of us who called this place home. I waited over two years to get in and I had to tell you that it is worth the wait Dave

Ya Po Ah Terrace is a wonderful community, largely because of the caring and dedicated staff. We’ve had the pleasure of providing safety training on three different occasions this year, including CPR and AED Safety training for their team. It’s not often that I encounter an administrator like Ashley, who is so genuinely invested in ensuring her staff is equipped with the necessary training and resources to maintain a safe environment for their residents. The staff is truly remarkable, and I’ve enjoyed meeting each one of them. It’s clear how close the staff are to their residents, often resembling a family or friends visiting together. It’s heartwarming to witness a community that genuinely cares about its residents and goes above and beyond to provide a safe, nurturing environment. Highly recommend!

In the almost 5 years I've been living at Ya-Po-Ah Terrace Retirement Apartments there hasn't been a bad day. Not one. And that's because the wonderful people that take care of us make sure there are No Bad Days. That's saying a lot considering in that time we've experienced a remodel and a pandemic at the same time. That was a herculean task in itself. Add a huge number of testy old people to the mix and it could be compared to herding cats, with most of them hissing and spitting and quite possibly biting. A sight to behold! And all was handled with grace, kindness, and reassurance that we'll all get through it together, and we did. This is the place you could move to and know that all is right within these walls because No Bad Days happen here.

I was fortunate to get an apartment here at Ya Po Ah 2 years ago. It's ideal in so many ways - affordable, near the river and the butte, near the shops downtown, safe, private, with daily social activities to choose from. It's a great neighborhood to live in.

I have resided at YPA for six years. In that time there has been many changes in the administration, maintenance staff and of course residents. I am involved for five years as a custodial guardian, and worked in property management in different capacitys. YPA has a terrific administrator staff and maintenance crew. It has functioned more efficiently now than ever before. We are blessed!
