Clean community with a very helpful and friendly staff!

I moved into Tumwater Apartments in February 2023 after close to 5 years on the waiting list, but it was so worth the wait. I have been here almost 3 years and am so grateful to be in a safe, subsidized one-bedroom apartment. It is a small complex (50 one-floor units), and though not new, it is attractive and well-maintained with big trees and landscaped greenery. There is a clubhouse/meeting space equipped with a kitchen, bathroom, library, and laundry room. My apartment has considerable storage, and I have a parking space right outside my front door. I am very close to the bus line and its Dial-A-Lift service, with several pharmacies and three large stores for groceries and household needs. There are several raised garden beds along with a large cleared gardening space shared by many of us who enjoy growing food. Beyond these important conveniences, my quality of life has vastly improved due to living here. The Site Manager and the Resident Services Coordinator make a huge difference for residents. They spend time talking with us, providing info about other support resources, and participating in our group events. They coordinate a monthly delivery from Thurston County Food Bank and ensure that less-mobile residents get a food delivery to their apartments. They also work with us to plan and coordinate frequent pot-luck celebrations. There is Bingo each week, along with craft-making groups and other social/educational activities, where we can get to know and have fun with our neighbors. So, while I am incredibly grateful for the affordability and safety I have found here, I am even more grateful for the community life we have, and the staff that work so hard to make sure everyone can participate. I love it here!

Nice place to spend your retirement, if you can't afford to move to Florida. Ground level apartments, you can have flowers in pots or help with a community garden, have your own raised bed for veggies, activities galore like Bingo and Potlucks. You are allowed to have 2 pets. It is almost level for walking your dogs, or just walking. Within Walking distance to many services, too. Management is nice here, and very helpful.
