I live in the Bay Area, my sister lives in Los Angeles, and my parents live in Brea. Identifying a suitable retirement community for my 86 y.o. father and 80 y.o. mother felt daunting and overwhelming, especially since English isn't their first language and communication can be a challenge for them. We started our search in December 2022 and visited 4-5 facilities including Belmont Village Senior Living (Westwood), Capriana (Brea), Emerald Court (Anaheim), and a few others that aren't worth mentioning. Morningside was the last facility we visited and after our first visit to Morningside in early February 2023, we felt like Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We immediately felt like we found the perfect community for my parents! Since then, we've spoken to and met numerous residents (and their adult children), enjoyed numerous lunches/dinners onsite (the food ranges from good to excellent and that's coming from a major foodie!), attended a lecture on downsizing and selling a home, and toured Park Vista (on-site skilled nursing, assisted-living and memory care units). I'm an uber researcher and you can be sure I did my due diligence for something so important as the care and welfare of my parents whom I adore! I asked endless questions of Taz (our initial contact at Morningside) and Monica (who took over for Taz after her departure). We had such a positive experience with Taz that we were fearful of what might happen after she left. Thankfully, Monica turned out to be a total sweetheart and we've really enjoyed working with her! She handled the transition seamlessly. Truly everyone we've met to date seem to genuinely care about the residents in their care. The workers we've observed throughout the community at both Morningside and Park Vista appear happy in their jobs! They are very kind, respectful and patient with the residents. My parents joined the waitlist for a 2BR/2BA unit in March 2023 with a target move-in date of spring 2024. They could have probably moved in this year, but they aren't ready to leave their home of 21+ years just yet... We encountered absolutely no hard sale, and absolutely no pressure to enter into an immediate contract unlike some facilities we've visited in the Bay Area for my mother-in-law. Also, you know it's a great place when the scent of Clorox doesn't hit you in the face whenever entering a building! For anyone hesitant about scheduling a visit, I encourage you to give Monica (residency counselor) a call. My sister and I were beyond picky in selecting a suitable home for my parents and so far, Morningside has met and often exceeded our very high expectations!

If living stress free in a 5 star resort sounds appealing, Morningside is the place for you. If the idea of having Continuing Care gives you peace of mind, Morningside is the place for you. If you like to interact with friendly and interesting people, Morningside is the place to be. For all of these reasons Morningside is the place for me. I feel fortunate to be in this very special place.

We moved in on January 4th with Tom Stone doing the moving. It was like a party moving in because we received two bouquets of flowers and an appetizer platter. That day our mentor, Jan Taylor, came by to introduce herself. Then we began receiving invitations to meet people for dinner and every night for two weeks we had an invitation for dinner. We have been trying out many of the activities, the gym, the exercises, the morning walks in the park, the lectures, the videos, and the 7:30 a.m. pre-breakfast. The housekeeping and maintenance staff have come by and been very efficient in their duties. A few of the directors have come by. Even Richard came by to check on us. I lost my car and a worker drove around in his cart and found it and took me to it. Sharon, Amanda, and Liz have been very helpful in getting us off to a good start. We intend to continue to check out more activities like card games, bingo, and parties. We are very happy with our decision to come here. Jay and Jane Stibal

Great place for retirement provided you have the means to pay for it. Not everyone will be able to afford to live here because of the prohibitive cost. The place is really like a resort with all the amenities and daily scheduled activities. The food they served us at the "open house" seems to be really suited for seniors. I will consider this place for our retirement plans.

Morningside is more than a continuing care retirement community; it's a place that comforts me in mind, body and spirit and where I can see myself aging in a "wholelistic " way. Living here, I benefit from resort-style and/or stationary cruise-ship type living with choices of elegant and comfortable apartments and villas, exquisite cuisine and new friends who continue to appreciate life to its fullness. I admire their sense of professionalism. I can choose to be low key or active in the many daily activities. I can't tell you which of the activities I like best because I love them all - I do know that I find myself welcome wherever I go and in whatever I do! What convinced me that Morningside was the place for me was the congruency in responses of both staff and residents. Both groups LOVE being here, those who work here and those who reside here, what a beautiful combination. Seeing their smiles gave me a lot of confidence and an overall sense of comfort; I knew then that I would be living in a safe, spacious and comfortable, elegant and caring place for the remainder of my life. For now, is great independent living, for later, great higher level of care. Dr. Nida.

This is a place where you can keep as busy/active as you want. I find this is conducive toward keeping healthy and happy. I originally felt my move here was because for security, but it is so much more than that. I've found there are many volunteering activities available, so I don't really have a whole lot of "free" time. Everything is so interesting, I find it hard to say "no". I have lived a relatively colorful and outgoing life, so I am very comfortable here. Getting to know and actively interact with our family here is a great adventure. What do I consider exciting about the future? I am always thinking, "What's next?" Every day is a gift - and another opportunity to enjoy sharing. I love to entertain and see people laugh, with me or at me. I have made so many friends, and almost all of them have a story or ability that contributes to the "feel good" atmosphere of this "Garden of Eden". Your first and lasting impression will be that you are on a grand cruise, so what are you waiting for..."All aboard".

I moved to Morningside in order to be close to the campus of Cal State Fullerton where the "Osher Lifelong Learning Institute" is located. OLLI is a university for seniors offering 140+ classes taught by seniors. I take several classes there and I teach two French classes. Although I did not know anyone when I moved to Morningside, I quickly made friends and quickly felt "at home". Living at Morningside rejuvenated me because of the increased social interaction and because Morningside, too, offers numerous classes and activities in order to keep residents socially engaged and physically and mentally active. They did a superb job to help us "weather" the pandemic.

Well it has been almost 6 years since we traded our lovely home of 43 years for one at Morningside. Why? Both my wife and I were getting old along with the house which was having middle age problems to deal with. You come here not knowing anyone but you are welcomed by everyone. Trading stories with other couples at the wonderful dinners makes you comfortable. Participating in some of the many activities connects you with other like minded people. So here we are happily at home. George Rost

Moving to Morningside was an eventful time. I made the decision to come here and seven weeks later had sold my home, sifted through 51 years of "treasures" and moved into my apartment. Tom Stone and crew, who moved me, knew the setup of my apartment and every piece of furniture was placed exactly as planned. Everyone is so friendly and it's comforting to know I can call on help if needed. When I moved here there was always a gathering at the coffee table around 8am each morning for coffee and muffins. That was where I got so many tips on life here at Morningside. I treasure the friends I've made here and my children are thrilled that they don't have to worry about me. In fact they are jealous of all the amenities that I have. I appreciate the hard work of the staff has they attempt to make life as normal as possible during this trying time.

My husband and I have been at Morningside of Fullerton for 3 years and haven't had a single regret. It is beautiful, just the right size, and has a staff (top execs, marketing, maintenance, food services, wellness, etc.) that is unbelievably competent, friendly, and caring. When we have family or friends visit, they can't rave enough about all the amenities, friendliness of the residents, and the wonderful food choices - they say it feels like they're on a cruise! While we have heard some folks express that it's just too early to move to a 3-tiered community, we say sooner is so much better too late - one never knows when something might happen to you or your spouse that would make it difficult to qualify. We are totally satisfied with our decision and were able to begin the process of downsizing. Now it's time to relax and smell the roses!!

My husband and I moved to Morningside 71/2 years ago and it has lived up to all our expectations as the years have gone by. My husband was with me for only 3 years before he became ill and passed away. A question on every resident's mind when they move here is whether or not Morningside will honor their commitment to continuing care through all phases of our remaining life. Well, they do. As promised, my husband was cared for totally throughout his final years and death. Accommodations, staff, activities and a sense of well being is a constant here as well as providing an opportunity to make new and lasting friendships. Making the decision to come to Morningside will be one of the best you will ever make!

Living at Morningside has exceeded our expectations. Residents and staff have been so warm and welcoming and we are already forming friendships to replace those we left behind. People are upbeat, energetic and involved socially as well as with the many activities available. It keeps folks young. The decision to sell your home is a big one - physically, mentally and especially emotionally. Everyone advised us to do it sooner than later. We are so glad we did.

We moved into Morningside about a month ago and are very happy with the facility and the staff. Everyone here has been friendly and helpful. Our punch list was handled in a timely manner. The residents have been very friendly and welcoming. The quality of meals in the dining room has been very good. It's very quickly feeling like "home".
September 2019
My parents were among the first residents when Morningside opened. They were young (early 60's) and it was the best decision they ever made. My dad lived to go through assisted living and skilled nursing. Every single day was a positive experience. It was like resort living. They loved it. The employees really are like family. They hire the best of the best! The dining areas are beautiful and the food is delicious! Every single thing about Morningside is fabulous. So much so that my sister moved in as soon as she became old enough a couple of years ago. The entire place is spotless and every employee is friendly and welcoming.
August 2019
My wife and I consider our decision to move to Morningside of Fullerton as the best decision we have made in the second half of our lives. We have never had a single moment of "second-thought" about our move from our home of 45 years to Morningside over 5 years ago. From the quality of the physical environment and its excellent maintenance to the carefree and "busy-as-we-want" life style, it could not be better. The concern for us and our well-being by the staff that has been demonstrated repeatedly is a real key to our high level of satisfaction. We did not need confirmation that this is THE PLACE we should be until, on separate occasions, we who are otherwise healthy and active, needed to be taken to the hospital ER. One call to Resident Services was all that was needed to be examined by health-care professionals on staff within 5 minutes of the call. Determined to need urgent, additional medical attention, a call was made and we went through the hospital ER door less that 20 minutes after that one call was placed! How much more traumatic and time-consuming that experience would have been had we still been in our home of 45 years . . . in a real sense, isolated to make several critical, possibly life and death, decisions. My greatest Morningside disappointment is my difficulty convincing my peers that they need to seriously consider moving here . . . NOW. The frequent response I receive after having them here for a meal, a tour of our villa and the complex is . . . "WOW, This is Great! When we are ready, we just may join you here." When I hear that, I earnestly respond, "When you are ready, it's too late . . . you don't know what tomorrow holds." Art & Garnette Black

I live in North Carolina and can't speak personally to the resident experience or care provided because I don't know anyone who has lived here. However, as part of my career at myLifeSite I have the opportunity to visit communities all across the country. I've been very impressed with the staff at this community (and other Continuing Life communities), as well as the way the organization is managed/operated.

We have been Residents of Morningside for over 1 1/2 years now and have had a totally positive experience. 1. People- both the Residents and Staff are truly fine people and have made our move here a very happy adventure. Congeniality is evident with the vast majority of Residents. Staff are very helpful and friendly. 2. Activities- there are far more than one could ever participate in. Not a dull moment! 3. Living quarters- we are in a villa and could not ask for a more pleasant environment which works well for us despite a major downsizing move: Quiet, spacious, view, and practical. 4. Meals- we generally go to the dining room for dinner and get a delicious meal with ample choices of good wines. We usually eat with other Residents and find the social aspect delightful. All in all, our experience has been just great.. PTS

My parents were very hesitant to downsize from the 4 bedroom house where we'd lived for 40 years, but with just the two of them having to maintain the house, it became too much of a burden. We toured several retirement communities, and Morningside was by far the best. It's like being at a resort, where all they neighbors are in the same demographic. Needless to say, my parents love living there (it's been almost 2 years now), and would have made the move a lot sooner if they knew how much they would enjoy it. The now have more friends (than I think they've ever had in their whole lives!), and actually have a social life. My mom competes in Wii Bowling, my dad sings in the choir, and they both enjoy eating nightly in the restaurant-quality dining room. (I like eating there when I visit too!) The grounds are kept clean, there are dozens of activities (putting green, croquet, dog park, gym, etc), and it's located right next to a grocery/shopping center. Plus, there are medical facilities on site, and St. Jude medical center is less than a mile away. Shuttles are available to guests for shopping, movies, medical appointments or whatever. There's a beauty salon on site for hair & nails, and even a masseuse. The pool is huge, and heated year-round. The facility is also gated with a security guard, which is a huge advantage compared to other facilities we visited. I highly recommend Morningside for any families that have oder parents who are living alone, or living in houses that are more work to maintain than needed.
