My mother was there and after her hip replacement, the place was good clean. Physical therapy went well. The staff was great and is a place that I will send her back if something should happen again and it is local.

Highland rehab center went above and beyond with my husband’s care. Everyone there was caring, compassionate and understanding not only for my husband, but for myself. Would definitely use again.

My Great Aunt was recently at this facility for rehab after a fall and was extremely impressed. The staff was very helpful and engaging, she loved the recreation department and all the programs offered during her stay, the physical therapy department was great in helping her get back on her feet and the nurses were kind and understanding. She said while she hopes to not need to go back, if she was to have to she knows she’ll be cared for there.

Highland Rehabilitation and Nursing Center deserves enormous gratitude for its role in servicing Middletown local community’s needs. It is justly the place where folks from surrounding neighborhoods and towns find good, family like, secure work environment, where local retirees and their families can rely on comprehensive, well planned and well administered rehabilitation programs that will bring loved ones back home as quickly as possible. Highland’s dedicated employees deserve standing applaud for staying with the home through enormous pandemic challenges while diligently ensuring that the community could continue to rely on their service and support no matter what. Well, It is time for us to recognize all of these great professionals that work there with 5 star review. They truly deserved it!

My mom has been there for a month. I find there’s a shortage of help. I find the help does not follow through with complete needs for patient s. Things aren’t always followed through. Connecting with staff can be IMPOSSIBLE. Please. It’s our loved ones. Correct. Connect. Family members hope for full proper care for our loved ones.

I don’t usually leave reviews but in this case I feel compelled to. I was hesitant and had reservations having my mom go here for rehabilitation. The admissions director was aware I had concerns. The reviews both online and personal from people I know were not the greatest. I can say that the nursing staff and PT’s were great. However, that’s about it. When I was doing a training there, I was contacted by the financial department stating that my mom owes $4700 and they would need it in the next 2 days before she goes home. They needed at least $1500.00 before she left. I asked about a settlement, as was discussed with the financing manager weeks before when I talked to him about something else. The woman acted like it wasn’t an option until she went and asked. She came back and said they can settle the bill for $2700.00 but it would need to be paid in full. The next day, I paid the $2700.00. She said she would email me the receipt when my mom was to leave the following day and my mom would have a copy. When I saw the copy a few days after my mom was discharged , the original amount stated on the form that was given was $3400.00, not $4,700.00. Feeling as though that was a little shady and we were taken advantage of, I called and left a message asking for a call back. I wanted to know why I was lied to and told that my moms bill was $4700.00! This was on September 23rd.... not a peep from them.... until my mom gets a call today from them stating that they need her to take care of her debt. She explained that her daughter paid it in full and they said they would mark it down!!! Why is it not marked down already?! I sent another email saying I want another call. I would advise people to really make yourself aware when it comes to finances in this place. Your loved one could be taken advantage of. I’m giving the stars for the nursing staff because they were great.

Although not able to see the place because of Covid, our father had good care and recovered from Covid nicely. He had no complaints.

The staff and volunteers are some of the best around! They are helpful, compassionate, patient (my Mom requires A LOT of patience) and responsive to any questions that we may have. My father-in-law and grandmother had been in another, hospital run, facility and my Dad is currently in a facility in Rockland Co. I can truly say that I prefer Highland to both other places. Highland treats their residents like family, not patients. The building may not be as new or modern but the care and the people are what count! Thank you, everyone at Highland!

The doctor was good and when she finally returned my calls I was relieved that she was able to address my concerns and answer my questions. My mom did improve. But the staff was unbelievably and irresponsibly uncommunicative. We were not informed about important developments and decisions. No one there returns calls. Half the staff doesn't even have voice mail so if you, for instance, need to speak to the nurse manager and she is on the other line or not at her desk, you cannot even leave her a message. No one seems capable of looking at a chart or getting an update from whomever they are relieving, so if someone "just came on duty" or "just got back after two days off" there is literally NO WAY they will give you any information. All of this did not engender confidence in the care they were providing and I became increasingly worried that my mom might be in danger-- because of the COVID quarantine, I couldn't be there in person. Maybe if I'd been in their faces more they would have been more professional and responsible, but I would never take that chance again. I do not recommend this place at all.

I admit that this was not my first choice for my dad to get rehab but it was all that was available. Despite the low ratings, they have taken very good care of him and he likes it there. He has made friends & is quite comfortable. All his needs are met & he is happy. We are thankful’•
