PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONE TO THIS HORRIBLE FACILITY!!! My father, who has dementia, moved into this home back in April and we were reassured at that time by Casa Dolce that my father would do well there. I do not recommend this place at all. Most of their google reviews are fake and I am ashamed I even selected this place without doing my homework first. Unfortunately we didn't have the time and needed to find a place fast. This all starts at the top and we had a couple of unpleasant conversations with the CEO [name removed]. This woman is just rude and has no compassion. She basically told us to leave if we didn't agree to paying for 1 on 1 care. We took my dad out before having to paying a full months worth of the 1 on 1 care which would have cost us approx $11,000 total for the month. Unbelievable to think we started at $4000 per month back in April and then would end up paying $11,000 per month a few months later in July. Right from the start my fathers meds were not being administered properly even though we were paying for that service. My sister and I had to drive to CDC many times to help their nurses. After reporting this to the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority we realized that Casa Dolce is not even equipped to handle anyone with dementia! This makes me even more furious and we are currently seeking legal counsel. The last couple of weeks there, when it was clear to us that we needed to find him a new home, my father was not cared for and just slept all day. His meds were not administrated properly and he wasn't eating or being encouraged to eat. I had a camera in his room and have video proof of this. I could go on and on but I really hope no one else make this same mistake we made of choosing this home.

My brother and I entrusted our Father Luigi Pigmotti to CASA Dolce CASA. Only some of the staff was kind and compassionate. The director at the time decided my father needed a haircut and instead of contacting my brother or I they buzzed his entire head. I walked passed my Father in the dining room because I didn't recognize him. My Father had a look of shame in his eyes that I will never forget. I had already booked an appt. With my husband's barber. It was June 2020 during COVID. His barber would come to give him a haircut at Casa Dolce. My Father was at Chartwell where the staff really care for and give elderly men and women the care they need with dignity and pride. Our parents truly deserve this. Our hearts were broken when we found out my Father was dying and he was in a place where only some staff were compassionate and the care he deserved and made him feel respected.he was there from June 2020 to the day he died November 16, 2020.

At 90 years of age, I believed the most fulfilling chapters of my life were already over. I never thought that moving into a new place at this stage would bring me such peace and happiness. Casa Dolce Casa has completely changed the way I feel about growing older. From the very first day, I was welcomed with kindness and treated with deep respect. The caregivers here are not just staff members. They are genuine people who look you in the eye, call you by your name, and take the time to listen. That human touch means everything. I still enjoy my independence. I can make my own choices, follow my own routine, and live life at my own pace. At the same time, I feel safe and supported every moment of the day. The balance they maintain here is something rare and precious. My favourite part of each day is the morning walk in the garden. I sit with a warm cup of tea, surrounded by flowers and birds. It brings me a deep sense of calm and reminds me of the simple joys I often missed in my busy younger years. Casa Dolce Casa is not just a residence. It is a place where you are valued. It is a community where you can live with dignity and joy, no matter your age.

My father has been staying at "Casa" for the last 6 months. I have been very happy and am grateful for the level of care and comfort he has received. The first thing that struck me about "Casa" when I toured the home was how clean and odour free it was. This place is spotless throughout, including common areas and resident rooms. My father requires a high level of care and the staff have been wonderful always attending to his needs with compassion and genuine concern. This place has a "community" feel about it and that starts with the staff who are always pleasant and care about their residents. If you have any concerns or questions the staff is always available to listen and accommodate your needs. A special thank you to Rosita, Marinette (head nurse) and the staff who have all helped to make a difficult life situation much less stressful and worry free.

My mother has been trying out Casa Dolce Casa for a month now. I have seen such a difference in her. She’s thriving. Her dementia symptoms have subsided and her depression has lifted. She loves the food and she’s a very picky eater. She’s making friends and she loves the staff who are extremely friendly, supportive, and work very well as a team. Her room gets cleaned spotlessly every day. My mother wants for nothing. No more cleaning, cooking, laundry, paying bills, shopping, being lonely, taking out the garbage, etc, etc. You could say that after a lifetime of sacrifices, she’s finally living an easy life being served like a Queen! My relationship with her is healthier and I’m happier because she’s happier. I can’t thank this retirement home enough and specifically, Rosita, who manages intake in such a welcoming and accommodating way, and Carole who greets you so positively every time you enter this boutique style home. I could name off so many other staff members but suffice it to say that this place has been a Godsend and my appreciation warrants this high praise review! Plus I want to add that compared to other places, the monthly rent is quite reasonable. If you’re wondering about your loved one, let them just try it out for one month and then they can make an educated and informed decision. I wish I read a review like the one I’m writing now because I wish we had done this move sooner. It would have relieved so much stress and anxiety from our family. Trust me when I say this that it could be a win/win all around!

They really care. My mom was a resident since 2017. She was cared for by caring staff. Mom lived here during Covid. During this time there were many long term care centres negatively impacted. At Casa, all precautions were in place to protect this vulnerable group. They impressed beyond expectation. In 2021, mom started to slow down. She was in palliative care at Casa. They have all the accommodations to support palliative care. The resident Dr is a palliative specialist. We had the option to go to long term care at this point or the hospital. We refused. My mom was able to be with her friends. We were able to take her on the beautiful grounds over looking the surrounding ravine. She spent her last days being cared for by an amazing team and around the clock. We wouldn't have had it any other way.

My mother has been a resident of Casa Dolce Casa for almost a year. We chose this home as a respite after she had a prolonged hospital admission, and after a few months, decided this would be a good place for her to live. Despite being a candidate for long term care, the public long term care facilities were being exposed as death traps during the pandemic, so I felt compelled not to send her to one of those places. Casa Dolce Casa has given me peace of mind, since my mother is safe, happy, and very well cared for. The staff goes out of their way to respond to her needs, and she has been very protected during the pandemic - I never needed to worry about the things we were constantly hearing about in the news regarding patients in public homes. If you can imagine any negative news you heard about public long term care, Casa Dolce Casa was the opposite, and they didn't sacrifice the security or the humanity of the people who work and live there. At Casa Dolce Casa, she is treated like a human being - they care about the residents' physical well being, but also about their emotional and spiritual well being. As my mother's care needs progress, Casa Dolce Casa has responded well to helping her through her final stages of her life. I am so glad that they have become such an important part of our lives, and I would recommend this place as a safe, humane, and caring retirement home for an ailing parent or loved one.
