My mother has been a resident of Messiah Lifeways for about 12 years in the assisted and skilled nursing units. She is in the latter stages of Alzheimer's/dementia and requires total care at this point. I have been pleased with the level of care she has received. She is clean, well fed, medically supervised and interacts with the staff and other residents to the extent she is able. The staff appears to know their residents: likes, dislikes, habits, needs, etc. and are caring toward them. I have rested easy knowing she is in good hands.

I am perplexed by several negative reviews I see on this site. My in-laws experienced all three levels of care - cottage, apartment & nursing care at Messiah Lifeways, while my own parents resided at another retirement facility in York. When comparing the two organization and the quality and empathy of care; there is simply no comparison. My in-laws at Messiah Lifeways received far more superior care than my parents did at their facility. In my mind, Messiah Lifeways sets a high standard for elder care and support.

This is a great community. My grandmother enjoyed the residents, staff, and amenities offered. After she passed, the staff was incredibly helpful, supportive, and flexible.

My grandfather lives in this community. Looks very nice, friendly residents, good buildings. Personally, I wouldn't mind moving to a place like this in thirty or forty years.

Wow what a wealth of information from Messiah Lifeways and the Cumberland County Commission for Women held the seminar: The Sandwich Generation - Parent Care Giving. Our panel Vicki Hoak, Aviv Bliwas, Laura Souders, and Sue Severino gave us lots of things to think about and to prepare for ourselves and aging parents.

As a continuing care retirement community, it's great they have all levels of care are available to the residents, along with a benevolent care fund for those that run out of money.

Community! I have friends who live here. I have seen over and over the sense of community between residents enjoying coffee together at the coffee shop, getting on some of the extended Vans to go on field trips, or just passing them on the walkways. I can think of at least two conversations over the last few years where residents told me their only regret is that they didn't move on campus sooner! Authentically caring, approachable people.... from the higher ups to nursing to housekeeping and maintenance. Messiah Village is something my wife and I have talked about for ourselves eventually...

I feel blessed to work for a well established organization that truly lives out its mission and vision to enhance the lives of older adults. My co-workers are great and I love having the opportunity to interact with residents and clients each day.
