I have a family member living at Astoria for the last 9 months. She does like the building and location in very convenient for getting to shopping and doctors appointments etc. The staff are friendly and most really go out of their way to help out the residents. I have heard that the food has been an issue. Sometime great, other days just so-so. Overall I am glad she's living there as i know she's being cared for well. I would recommend Astoria, but be aware it can be pricey.

It's more like a resort.

My mother in law is moving in and the whole family couldn't be happier and more excited. She starts a new adventure soon.

My dad moved into Astoria last year and it's been smooth sailing ever since! His room is beautiful, as is the rest of the building. Every corner is cozy, clean and homey. My dad adores the staff; they have great energy and take care of every detail. His health has improved tremendously as of late and I credit Astoria as an important contributor to that improvement. I couldn't be happier about his living situation, and I recommend Astoria to anyone who needs supported retirement living. It's the best!!

Helping to find your parents and loved ones a new home is a daunting task. The decision that you and your family make will leave you wondering just how well they will fit in and adapt.I made a extensive list trying to cover off as many issues I could think of.When you walk in the door ,whats do you see, smell , hear.Is the paint and decor fresh? Background music playing in the lobby? Do you walk in to a room full of people dinning ( this was a big one for me ), or people relaxing in a spacious lounge are reading the paper with a morning coffee. Are the carpets clean? My Dad moved in and absolutely loved it.We soon nicknamed it " The Lodge" for its warmth and caring atmosphere.Did I mention the food? Chef Lewis and his team are amazing. The activities and events are over the top. They even have there own car show in the summer , hot dogs, music and very good fun for everyone. My recommendation to you as you begin the search for a new home is to make a list and start your search and go look at as many as you can. When you walk through the front doors of the Astoria , you'll get what I am trying to say . My Dad passed away not long ago and I still go back to visit friends and the team at the lodge. The take away is this .Without the extraordinary caring ,companionship, love and laughter , this would just be another place to live. This is NOT a rest home ! Go see for yourself , your loved ones deserve the best . 5 stars all the way .

My friend told me how wonderful the Astoria was but I am so glad to say it surpassed all expectations! The staff are wonderful and go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome and at home and there is no end to the fun everyone has there! Keep up the great work!

I have worked at the Astoria for 5 years now and I have loved every minute of it! The energy when you walk into the building is truly remarkable. It feels like home. The residents and my fellow team members are like friends and family to me and they never fail to brighten my day. The Astoria will forever hold a special place in my heart.

I recommended the astoria to my parents and they absolutely love being there. The staff are excellent. The food is great. Lots of things for them to do.
December 2017
Caring. All staff cheerfully go out of their way to maintain a feeling of family and community ....not only on the premises ... frequently Dawn from reception will take little gifts or a lunch and visit residents who are temporarily in hospital. Excellent food, rich and varied entertainment programs & excursions. Additionally, a nice rotation of world class entertainers are engaged for happy hour, ice cream socials, High Tea .....very much like living in a stationary cruise ship. XoXo

As my Dad, my sis and I toured Astoria in Port Coquitlam (Vancouver suburb) - were pleasantly ssurorised... And then overjoyed at the luxury of Independent Assisted Living. There is a government grant available to help with rent - Safer Grant. This place is a resort! We are going to try to get our parents in here! Video on my YouTube channel @Dearest Dayna

Best Independent/Assisted Living building in Tricities. Respectful, fun, stimulating with an atmosphere that has you living in a 5 star Hotel...not an "old age home". Top marks. Dad has enjoyed his life there.
June 2016
Was there for tour about a year ago, researching private assisted living facilities in the area. Nice building, great interior, tasty food. I think overall it's a great place to live. One thing I did not like - it's a bit too far for seniors to walk to do their shopping and I did not see any pharmacy at a block-distance from this lovely place. However, if you not a major shopper - you will love this place. Loved their sea-theme decorations. All other amenities are very close (Senior Center, Recreational Center, Library, etc)
