The Pearl provided excellent care for my husband after an extreme spinal surgery. He ended up with an infection at the hospital requiring emergency abdominal surgeries. After all of the surgeries my husband spent a month in the hospital and he was kind of at square one when discharged. When he started at the Pearl he was unable to stand. After his month long stay, he was in good enough shape to slide transfer from a wheelchair to his bed or shower/commode. He was also able to stand for brief periods of time. He progressed enough to join the intensive Rio Rehabilitation Program at Legacy Health. During his stay he received top notch care from Rio staff. They were very caring and met him where he was physically. The therapists pushed him to get where he needed for additional rehabilitation. Thank you Colin and Debra! The nursing staff were caring and as timely as they could be and several nurses were standouts (like Carol and Sherry). The weekends seemed to have less staff so things could take longer. That said, they were upfront about other work they needed to do before being able to help. And when they were helping, they took all the time and care that was needed. The food was very good with several alternatives if the main menu didn’t sound good. Bambi was great in helping set up wheelchair transport for appointments, Sondra helped coordinate lots of appointments and helped make Rio happen. Tawnya was amazing at coordinating transition to Rio and backup plans. Penny was the nicest therapy pooch. She lifts everyone’s spirits. I highly recommend the Pearl as a skilled nursing facility. Thanks for all you did for us!

I just left the Pearl after a 7 day stay. Words cannot express the gratitude I feel for the excellent care that I received while there. The work they do is the hardest on earth, and they tackle it with kindness, compassion, and skill. They saved my life and, more importantly, my spirit. I am eternally grateful to all the staff and special thanks to Dalia, Sofia, June Bug, Lyric, Tiffany, Ben, Eli, Carol, Sara, Tearnen, Clinton, Emily, Nadia, the cleaning staff, the kitchen, and all the others who helped me or said ‘ while I was there. You are Angels. Blessing to you all, forever ™. Sincerely, Karen

Gave my diabetic mother ice cream twice and candy. She also needs assistance walking. She had to wait up to 30 minutes to be assisted to the bathroom while the staff was visiting outside her door.

I am so thankful my mom was able to get her after hospital care at The Pearl. First of all this is just a BEAUTIFUL facility. It's like you are at a fancy hotel. It always smelled good there with some sort of potpourri that made the entire facility smell wonderful! Everyone there was so friendly and helpful. Mom was NOT the easiest person to work with (92 and some dementia) but the staff was so patient and respectful. I was impressed with their level of expertise and care they gave my mom. The food was also very good and there were many choices given to the patients there so that they can get good nutrition. Mom had several room-mates as her room was semi private and that is the only thing that was a little bit of a bummer because both roommates were hard of hearing and had their tvs on full blast. Mom is quite easy going and didn't seem to be bothered though! Mom spent three weeks here recovering from a broken hip and I just felt completely relaxed knowing she was in great hands at The Pearl. I highly recommend this facility.

My elderly Dad in law needed to recover from a bad fall that required surgery, and needed expert wound care. We were very happy with the care he received at The Pearl, and I am glad I chose this SNF for him to recover after doing some research. Although there are staffing issues at every facility these days, The Pearl still manages to get the job done. Many of the Nursing Assistants are very kind and really care. Intake was easy and efficient. Social Services was amazing and this employee needs a "Thank You" for helping get my Dad in Law back to his memory care facility. The receptionist is also very friendly and kind and does a great job managing the comings and goings of Intakes and Discharges. One suggestion: Access after hours and on weekends is by doorbell only, and wait times can be long because staff are busy. Maybe an access code entry system with a code given to family members at Intake would be helpful. Overall, this is an excellent SNF and I recommend it for family you care about.

Mom went into skilled nursing after a hospital stay for a bad fall as a rehab patient. The Pearl was chosen based on experience from a family member and its’ proximity to family for visitation. On the phone they are excellent, good access and clear information. On person we had a rough start. Mom has orthostatic hypotension. but there was no real way they could monitor her getting out of bed. This caused us great alarm and worry. The care givers were kind and helpful, but it often took them a long time to answer a call button. The assessment done on day 3 was very disturbing, and most of the talk was about insurance vs a care plan for mom. We wanted to know specific goals they had for her to achieve before discharge, but they were not delivered to us well. We got a written report, but again, verbally the conversation was unclear and frustrating. Nurses seemed well trained and helpful. The door to visit locks when the receptionist leaves, which has no set hours. When locked, one of the care staff has to come and open the door. You can wait awhile for this. Working with Social Services on discharge was great! They were accessible and helpful in navigating the steps including ordering a wheelchair and transportation home for mom.

My 92 year old mother stayed at the Pearl for 2 weeks to recover from Covid (the Pearl is a State mandated Covid unit). Overall, we were very pleased with her care. The staff was compassionate and did their best to make my mom comfortable during her stay. The nursing staff was very professional, knowledgeable, and conscientious about understanding her health history. When my mother had health setbacks while she was at the Pearl, the nursing staff acted appropriately and expeditiously. I received regular communication from the nurses, administrators, and other caregivers throughout the duration of my mom's stay and always felt that they were genuinely concerned about her well-being. I was impressed by the competent care my mom received and think that some previous negative reviews of the Pearl don't reflect our experience. Also, I understand that the Pearl is now under new management and has been making important changes over the last few months to improve the quality of care. I hope people who are thinking about a stay at the Pearl take this into consideration. Thank you to the staff at the Pearl for helping my mom recover from Covid!

My parents both contracted Covid 19 in their assisted living facility and were transported to The Pearl for their recovery. I appreciate that the staff at the Pearl recognized when they both (at different times) needed to go to the hospital for more comprehensive treatment. I appreciate the way the in-house doctor, nurses and staff cared for my parents, helping them get stronger (with physical therapy), attending to their needs and providing delicious and nutritious meals. The reason I know they were so well-cared for is that my mom (whom I spoke with twice a day during their whole illness) was relaxed and happy (once on the mend), able to be near my dad (one room over) and trusting the care HE was getting as well as her own care. I did have trouble getting calls returned when I would leave messages at the nursing station. And there was one final issue that led to my dad's re-hospitalization upon his return home: A suspected UTI went undiagnosed (the specimen was lost in the lab there) when the order to retest was not included in his discharge papers, and only in a note on his medication list. I got an immediate response to talk through this issue from The Pearl's end (the really serious fumbling of the retest, diagnosis and treatment happened back at my parents' Assisted Living, then Skilled Nursing facilities in their community). I appreciated The Pearl owning the mistake and pledging to retrain their staff so it won't happen again. ...And that they asked about my parents. Being so far away and unable to see my parents during their illness, I was relieved to know they were getting really great care at The Pearl.

I'm writing this on behalf of my mother, who passed away March 2019 at The Pearl. My mother had dementia, which we handled at home until we couldn't function anymore. I moved her to The Pearl and for 2.5+ years, she managed there, with the help of their staff. They have 2 Memory Care levels with about 15 rooms each. The staff was very caring....dressed her and fed her and tried their best to entertain a group who was not able to respond mentally. Nurse Julie is top notch and did a fine job of enthusiastically holding the staff together. I can't remember everyone's name, but from the other Julie at the front desk to Alexis who dressed Mom, to the others who attended her in the last days, we are grateful. Their Memory Care administrators changed hands a bit, but Mom 'graduated' while Rachel was there. I have to say that during that difficult time the staff was at their best. We were steered to Signature Hospice, (Courtney) who helped Mom with her medical needs. Both The Pearl and Signature were sensitive, attentive and showed our family a lot of love and concern. We appreciate all that The Pearl did for us. Thank you!

Update! The Pearl and the people are what I remember from my Mothers past visit. After working the kinks out and having them listen to my concerns, everything is going great. I'm happy they took the time to fix these issues. The Pearl is a wonderful place. And I would gladly recommend and bring my mother back. Thank you for your kindness and care in addressing this. I truly appreciate it. My Mother has been there 4 times prior to this one six years ago. I think obviously they have changed management and all the nursing staff which I'm sure is common, but our first day after check-in was horrific. No one answering her call light. The first time 20 minutes the second time almost 30 she came out of the hospital needing someone to be with her when she stands. Because her oxygen levels drop to 70%. She's in oxygen so trying to get up, and get to bathroom is very dangerous. The morning nurse said she would change and fix her oxygen tubes because water was dripping down her nose. Just what she needs is another sore. It didn't get resolved until the next day when I was there. Now she is coughing. Her grilled cheese for dinner was burnt, and nobody came in all day letting her know what's going on or when Therapies start . She felt like she was pushed in a back corner and forgotten. Today the occupational therapist was the one to help me fix a lot of these issues which wasn't even her job. That was very nice. The Night Nurse also very nice didn't show anything in he's charts about oxygen problem. But tried to help. Also tried to help by giving her ice cream to make up for the burnt dinner. I filled him in that the morning nurse was supposed to take care of the oxygen and told my mother she would . But Never did!! I'm very disappointed with the staff as far as sharing info on her chart. They didn't seem to know anything about her. They called me to drive her to appts that should have been cancelled. She's there to receive therapies not go off site for them. I don't remember this place being so unorganized or uncaring 6 yrs ago. If you have a loved one there, stay in top of it. It's like having a second job. Yes the building is beautiful but the care is only as good as they hire. Which isn't much since they are so under staffed. This is only day 2. Hope it gets better.

Thank you. My dad had a short stay at The Pearl at Kruse Way. In the morning, his CNA (Hanna-kudos to her!) noticed something was wrong with him. Her knowledge and the courage to step up resulted in my dad being taken to the ER. One life-saving surgery later, dad is recovering. Thanks to the staff at the Pearl, dad is alive. 5 is not nearly enough stars. Great facility, great people, and great care.

Have you seen how gorgeous this place is? My parents worked in the skilled nursing industry when I was a kid and I didn't a lot of time in old school "nursing homes" - this is NOT like those at all. This is a beautiful, clean, and highly professional place to get healthy again!

My brother was at the Pearl almost 6 weeks due to a leg amputation. All the staff at the Pearl were terrific! Nate (mgr), all the PT/OT people excellent, Justin and Lisa were wonderful. John and Jamie were lovely and so helpful. We were all treated with respect and quick attention was given to my brother when needed. I guess the only draw back was the food. Although, my brother said breakfast was the best. We were happy my brother was at the Pearl.

From June 26 to July 2 I was a guest at your rehab center. I want to report that your staff, universally, were professional, friendly and caring. This helped me immensely in my recovery. I really enjoyed the diversity in your staff. I got a virtual world and US tour in visiting with them. You are doing a great job with your staff! Diane (did not get last name) in your PT department deserves special recognition. While all your staff were excellent, Diane stood out to me. She took time to understand my needs. She trained me in exercises that addressed not only my immediate needs, but that also looked after issues that I have had for a long time. She gave me high value. Congratulations on your management of an excellent rehab center! Roger H
